"Came to Roy's to celebrate a college graduation. It's nice to be able to go to a place where you can dress either casual or very nice and eat fine dining food. The ribs appetizer was very tasting, you get enough to share. Everyone in our party enjoyed their entries. Our server made the guest of honor feel very special. Thumbs up to this place."

"Extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this location. My filet was overcooked (I ordered medium rare and received medium). The artichoke hash was cold and under-seasoned with undercooked potatoes and no actual artichoke in it. The manager offered to replace the potatoes "right away." They arrived over 10 minutes later, after I had given up and finished eating (including the overcooked filet), The wine glass options were disappointingly pedestrian. Lastly, both our table and the table next to us complained of a stench of cigarettes. Lastly, both our table and the table next to us complained of a stench of cigarettes."

"I have been eating a Roy Yamaguchi restaurants since his very first in Beverly Hills and whether I am eating at a Roys in Woodland Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, Palm Desert, Oahu, Maui or Boston, it is consistent. Good food, good service.
I have never had a bad meal."

"My wife took me here for my birthday last week and it was amazing. We have been coming to this Roy's since it first opened eight years ago, and always have a great meal, but this time was better than ever. We each had the ahi, which is one of their signature dishes, and it was so delicious. To cap it off we shared the chocolate souffle which is always great. The service was incredible this time, the waitress so so attentive, as well as everyone else. Truly a great meal."

"My girlfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary here and we couldn't be happier! The ambiance was great and the food was fantastic. Service was great as well and they even gave us a small complimentary cake to share as well as a photo that they printed out for us and put in a fold up paper frame.
For all the couples reading this, definitely check out Roy's!"

"Restaurant was great for an unusual dining experience - Asian fusion food which was excellent. The service was outstanding with servers doing their jobs efficiently and pleasantly. The drinks were excellent with large tropical selection. . We will definitely return but after 7:00 pm because the cocktail hour is over then. Before that, the bar scene, while lively, is too noisy for our taste."

"Food was great and worth the high prices. We shared a "canoe for two appetizer" and also wanted to share the Butterfish, which was amazing. The waiter offered as an option to have the kitchen split the entree for us "as a convenience." He didn't bother telling us that there would be an additional $6 fee charged for the kitchen splitting the entree plate. He should have told us that additional fee up front. My main complaint about this restaurant is that the seat cushions on the chairs are extremely uncomfortable. I've been here are few times now, so not just a few bad chairs in the bunch. I've tried different chairs and they are all extremely uncomfortable. Don't know if the chairs are old or just poorly made. Booths are much better."

"very dissapointing...good sushi but the rest of the dinner was poor; ordered lobster tails and they were dry and tasteless; asked the server if they were maine lobster and she said yes but I guess I didn't ask "from what year". the plate arrived with 2 quite small lobster tails (maybe 3 small bites each), a couple of stalks of bok choi and a ramekin of drawn butter. there was absolutely no taste of lobster. we were a party of 5 and two of us ordered them...should have sent it back; the server never appeared to ask if all was satisfactory or I probably would have. service was less than wonderful. I am done with Roy's. Used to be wonderful when they opened in Newport Beach."

"the Meat quality of the Filet i had was average, i am finding nowadays many of these Corporate owned resturants are skimping on staples trying to save and emphasizing great service(which the customer tips for), when i go out i want something that will impress me....and my taste buds,...not that my water glass and beer is always full..or how impressive your Wine list is, stop resting on your Laurles and buy some top quality Meat, and far as the fish goes which my friend dined on( 3 fish sampler), I was told it was good, but not Im coming back here again for this and to try other things on the menu"

"The food is great, as always. Most impressive is the service and attention, even though the restaurant was very busy. Management is visible to the staff and guests which always helps.
Unfortunately, this location can be very noisy. We were seated up against a wall at a 2 top, which was good because the noise came at us from 2 directions instead of 4."

"I went here for dinner on a Monday night when they were offering a Spring prix fixe menu at $37 per person which includes an appetizer, main entree and dessert. I ordered the blackened ahi appetizer, the beef short ribs and the signature chocolate souffle, which were all delicious. I was here for an anniversary celebration and they made it extra special with a little note greeting us at our table. All the servers were attentive and friendly. They also gave us an extra platter of dessert; and they gave us a photo souvenir of us enjoying our dessert. Overall, a memorable and romantic evening!"

"Ordered vegetables Tempura appetizer for table of four. Very large pieces of vegetables, (incl. a 1/2 baby bok choy!)that were too big and wieldy to eat or dip in any graceful manner. Also, veggies were all clumped and stuck together in a big pile. We had to use a knife and fork to try to separate them. Veggies had NO seasoning. Asked for salt and was quietly challenged by two servers and had to say "I want the salt for the table" before they would bring it. At this point we all gave up on the vegetables. Never did use the salt after that as we no longer wanted to try working with the veggies. Other dishes and my Mowie Wowie salad and Pad Thai were well seasoned. Server was a bit chatty and interruptive although sweet and efficient"

"We celebrated a 90th Birthday at Roy's. The service was excellent and they had set us up in an excellent location for us to celebrate. They even included a complimentary picture of our birthday party for our guest of honor. Three of us ordered the Butterfish and two of us were disappointed as the fish itself did not appeal to us. The third person enjoyed the butterfish. The other three people in our party all enjoyed their meals, which included Filet Mignon, Rack of Lamb, and the 3-Sampler Fish Plate. Overall a very enjoyable experience."

"Great service. Had never been there with my kids before - they were awesome with the kids and their kids menu is fantastic. My only complaint is that the way they prepared the Butterfish during this visit was different than all previous visits. Not even close to the classic that I return for and expect each visit. Bring back the miso butterfish please!"

"I really enjoyed dinner at Roy's. The noise level was a bit high so it made it difficult at times to hear our server or each other. The food was very good. I would have given it 5 stars except I didn't like the sauce that came with my Roy's Trio. I don't recommend the mixed drinks (I ordered a Colada), they just didn't seem to have the right amount of alcohol or mix. I don't know. Aside from that, the service was outstanding. We were seated on time and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered recommendations. All in all we had a good time and would definitely go back and recommend Roy's."
