"Every time we visit Roy's we have a great time. The food is excellent, I love the well thought out and beautifully prepared meals, both for lunch, dinner and brunch. The chef is very innovative, it is always a tough choice to pick one entree, there is just so many delicious options to choose from. Service is always friendly, it feels as if you are on a mini vacation. Highly recommend the outside seating and bar."

"The appetizers were delectable. The servers paid special attention to the three small children we had at our table. They made sure the children were fed first and even brought a small plate of crudités to keep them occupied. Our entrees-the swordfish, tuna and butterfish were cooked to perfection! The short rib and filet were also tasty. We did finish with pineapple upside down cake and chocolate soufflé. Excellent dinner in a lovely location."

"I just celebrated my 65th birthday at Roy's. We were seated facing the windows looking out on the marina. The table was decorated and there was a special menu wishing me happy birthday. We split the Tombu sashimi appetizer. The Butterfish main course melted in my mouth. My husband's Mahi Mahi was a lighter preparation than we remembered. After we had ordered the pineapple upsidown cake they brought us a macadamia not tart as well. We also received a complimentary photograph of us. The food was as good as the original Roy's in Oahu! I could not have had a better experience on a special occasion."

"Disappointed in my main course dinner, the shellfish trio. Portions small and not really anything to make it note worthy. All the other food was great."

"Located adjacent to the Marriott Marquis making it easily accessible from the hotel with views of the marina and Coronado this Hawaiian fusion high end chain doesn't disappoint."

"Had a lovely dinner although the Lamb Chop was one single chop and was dwarfed by my guests steak. This is a spectacular setting and they have a great bar and fire pit outside. Unfortunately it closes at 9. Are you kidding me? We finished our dinner at 9:30 and were looking forward to a nice after dinner drink on the patio. Not to be."

"Awesome service, awesome food. However, our table was right on the edge of the entry way, and there forfore the rating was fair for ambiance. A lot of "service" traffic was going by and not a good view at all of any waterfront. Otherwise...fantastic!"

"While you can always count on a good meal at Roy's, the menu hasn't evolved much in the last several years. So if you've been to any Roy's location before, there's not much new on the menu to excite. At the Convention Center Marriott iteration of this chain, there was no prix fixe dinner option, according to the waitress because "...we don't do that here." Since everything therefore had to be ordered a la carte, dinner for 3 (including an inexpensive bottle of wine, tax and 15% tip) was $250. There are numerous, equally nice restaurants in the downtown San Diego area where one can enjoy delicious and more innovatively prepared food, in equally nice surroundings, for much less."

"We thought the food was excellent. However, the waiter was like a used car salesman. He kept trying to push food on us. Several times he tried to pre-sell dessert. Unfortunately, it took away from the evening and the great food. Otherwise, I recommend it."

"We dined at Roy's for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant in Marriott's was a scenic walk along the waterfront from our hotel. We sat inside but had a beautiful view of the harbor. Our server was very prompt and attentive. My seafood special included 1/2 lobster tail, scallops and prawns. All were absolutely fresh and delicious. My husband said his beef short ribs were very tender and the best he's ever had. Although the food and service are wonderful, we feel it's a little overpriced."

"From his 1st restaurant in Hawaii he now has about (27?) restaurants. We have eaten in 4 or 5, some more than once, and have never been disappointed. Food is always consistant, very good and a good value."

"the food was very good, the waiter was very personable.. the lay out of the the place leaves something to be desired.. Initially i wasn't impressed with the seat that I was offered and felt that the hostess was put off do to my request for a seat that wasn't located at the main entry. We were then denied a seat near the window overlooking the water front, even though there were a number of tables available. The table that we were given was right next to the hostess station, the light above the table had a short and the manager at one point stood on a chair and shook the light to bring it on.. Given the price of the dinner, which was fifty dollars plus per person, I would not recommend this Roy's to anyone."

"We had good food (as usual at Roy's) but a waiter who could not have cared less that we were there. I even had to literally flag down a bus boy to get a second bottle of wine. Really? For a high profit item I had to practically tackle the guy:("

"Excellent service. I didn't love the food. I had shrimp and the whole dish was way too acidic. Pineapple juice and vinegar with no rice or bread or starc as a reprieve (two tortellini). I wouldn't choose to go here again, but would go back as part of a group or if a friend really wanted to go. Mi tai was good. And I love that they bring edamame before the meal. Beautiful location."

"Last min Valentine's Day dinner date led us here w/the only open reservation for desired time slot. The only thing I LOVED about this place was their service. NOT in love w/their Valentine's Day prix fixe menu. I had the kumamoto oysters, Bartlett pear, Maine lobster,&lemon poppy seed. He had the baja roll, ramen, Colorado lamb,&the souffle.
My meal: Nothing to brag/complain about any dish, however I learned I'm not a fan of arrugula. His meal: The baja roll had a lot of interesting flavors in a good way. The 1/4 of actual meat was good. I've never had lamb so I'm not sure what's normal but the 1/2 portion of fat &1/4 portion of bone left him feeling cheated.
If I come back it'd be for the service&in hopes that their reg menu is bett"

"Made reservation on Open Table and linked to Menu. Menu referred me to Prix Fixe Menu for $27.95 Appetizer, Entree and Desert. When we requested the offer, we were told that "this restaurant does not participate in that offer." After ordering from the menu we waited for about 45 minutes for our order. This restaurant is inside the Marriott and parking is in the Self Parking garage. Our ticket was validated and we had to pay $8.00 extra due to a 3 hour dinner. We went straight to the restaurant and left immediately after dinner.I could have easily driven to the La Jolla restaurant with better parking and the pre fre offer. Don' t go to this restaurant unless you are staying at the Marriott. Obviously focused on the business/convention cr"

"Those who ate the butterfish loved the food. I had the mahi mahi which I cannot recommend. It was advertised as macadamia crusted but had more Panko than nuts"
