The legendary culinary vision of Roy Yamaguchi can be enjoyed right here in the Phoenix area. At Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, our menu features the finest seafood with a focus on delicacies from the oceans around Hawaii. Each creation is a fusion of flavors found in our freshest local ingredients with European sauces and bold Asian spices and served with the spirit of Aloha, creating a dining experience that leaves you feeling like you’ve found paradise. The Desert Ridge restaurant is located inside the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. We feature lanai seating surrounded by tiki torches overlooking the gardens and water features of the JW Marriott, and a spacious dining room. In the kitchen, Chef Mako Segawa brings his imagination and artistry to the plate every night. Chef Mako is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has worked beside Chef Roy since 1992. It is our pleasure to welcome you into our Ohana and we look forward to serving you.
"Very high quality world class food. A few comments, the "fusion" doesn't really work on the desserts. Do not go here unless you value quality over quantity.
Their parking validation only covered 1/2 the cost of parking, which seemed a bit petty after spending $800 for 9 people (cocktails, appetizers, dinner, dessert and tip)"

"Roy's was amazing. We experienced the Ono fish. Delicate and balanced. The waiter recommended a lovely white wine to accompany our meal, which complemented our dinner perfectly. Do not miss the chocolate mousse cake. Heavenly!"

"Over rated and over priced. Not a whole lot of selections in the menu. Most of the dishes are covered with sauce such as Hoisin sauce. Attentive and friendly service."

"Not sure if food and service are worth the inflated price. Food was good, but not great. Service was above average, but not spectacular. Restaurant was loud."

"Roy's actually refers to Roy Yamaguchi, the master chef and original owner of this restaurant brand in Hawaii and the mainland. This Roy's is located at the impressive Marriott Desert Ridge Resort, and it specializes in seafood and beef dishes with a Japanese influence evident.
Service at Roy's was prompt and courteous, and our waitress, Brandy, was very knowledgeable. We ordered the Appetizer for Two in a Canoe, which offered 5 different selections each. The BBQ ribs in the Canoe-A+. We shared a delicious entree of Bay Seared Scallops with spaghetti squash and Molokai potatoes (wow). It was perfectly paired with Meiomi, a velvety California Pinot, served in the proper glass. Highly recommended for quality of food & presentation."

"We had a very nice time and the waitstaff were extremely attentive. We were celebrating my birthday and we found a nice card on the table with the signatures of all the waitstaff. Everyone (Manager/busser/server) who came across our table said, "Happy Birthday." A nice dessert with a candle was served at the end of our meal."

"I was diappointed over all. We had to sit inside because the outside was full. There were many open tables inside but we were placed between two other tables where peopl were seated. These particular tables were very cramped as the back of my chair we just an inch or two away from the person's chair at the table behind me. We asked to be moved because of the cramped situation and we were moved to a boothe that was less cramped.
The noise was a little more than energetic. I would term it "loud"
The food was average
The outside dining looked like a much nicer atmosphere, however, we were there at around 8:30 pm and there was loud music playing in the lounger next to Roy's and it carried over to the outside dining area."

"We had tried Roy's a few years ago while on vacation in AZ, but had a so-so experience. But we decided to try it again while staying at the Desert Ridge resort. This time we were quite impressed. It was a lovely night to sit outside near the fire and later when the sun had gone down the heat lamps were lit and just added to the "Island" ambience. Our server was cheery and attentive and really sold us the restaurant all over again! We shared Roy's appetizer sampler which was an excellent start to the meal.My husband had the scallops and I the blackened ahi tuna. The latter had quite a kick to it-even though I had questioned the server about it-Fortunately the vegetable helped cool it down. Chocolate souffle was a wonderful finish however."

"What's not to like about Roy's? Sure, you're in a beautiful JW Marriott property, surrounded by attentive wait-staff, clean beautiful décor and a lively, friendly group of guests. The Sauvignon Blanc was crisp. clean and the perfect temperature.
The food is properly prepared, served hot and delicious. Their careful handling of the freshest ingredients is appealing. My trout was perfectly prepared, plated and delicious. The hangar steak was perfectly cooked, presented over asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes - a real filling dish. And the pineapple upside-down cake - a buttery, tummy old time favorite that was a thrill to eat along with the coconut ice cream."

"We had a wonderful meals . The appetizers were delicious. The main courses(Ono and Butterfish) were outstanding. We felt like we are at a Roy's in Hawaii. The soufflé was its usual decadence-the four of us shared one. We will return."

"Overall great experience here with very good food. Shared Butterfish menu item and iceberg lettuce, both worth the price of admission. Usually have the blackened Ahi, but the Butterfish may be better if not equal. Pineapple upside down cake very tasty. Atmosphere romantic, close by outside venue is a beautiful spot just around sunset."

"Another wonderful dining experience at Roy's Desert Ridge. The Blackened Island Ahi, and Misoyaki Butterfish are such delectable dishes. The food is served lookin' sexy, and the the taste on your pallet reaffirms that you made the right choice going to Roy's Hawaiian Fusion."

"First time at Roy's and we will definitely be back. Ambiance was lovely and the service was top notch. Calamari appetizer was out of this world, my husband had the short ribs and declared them the best he ever tasted. I had the mahi-mahi and it was delicious. Everyone stopped by and wished us a happy anniversary. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

"Our dinner was outstanding, just what we have come to expect from Roy's. The service was friendly, yet professional. Although the restaurant was crowded we received appropriate attention. We certainly will return when we want a fine dining experience.
(We were very impressed with the exquisite sauces used. Please thank the chef for us. He has done a fine job creating memorable dishes)"

"Wonderful evening with excellent service from the moment we arrived at the hostess station and until we picked up our car from the valet. We appreciated being placed in a booth as it afforded us a lot of privacy. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable of the menu, options and cooking techniques. The butterfish was unbelievably good! Must recommend the pineapple upside down cake as well - WOW - exploded with flavor and freshness. We will definitely return."

"We've eaten at Roy's for years and were a little disappointed this time - they were SO busy and had so many tables crammed in the back that the waiter had to walk around other tables to get to the far side of our table - service was not as good as usual - partly because they were so busy, but the waiter had zero personality and he doesn't really need to read the entire menu to you - The food still good overall, but the blackening seasoning on the seared ahi was very uneven - one bottle of wine we ordered was fine, but the other was really not very good - seems like someone is not tasting the wines on their list."

"This location does not measure up to other Roy's I have dined at. Located inside the J.W. Marriot this Roy's was a bit run down and seemed more like an Outback Steakhouse level restaurant than a Roy's. For seafood in this price range Wildfish at Fashion Square and Maestro's Ocean Club at Kierland Commons offer much better cuisine and service.
- Table not ready at time of reservation - Requested seating not accommodated even though many tables were empty - Very long time between courses - Fish overcooked to the point of being dry and rubbery. - Parking is not complimentary for diners
+/- Server was very professional but was not available 2 times we actually needed her + Manager paid for dessert due to issue with entree"

"My girlfriend and i went for a romantic evening. It was great. Our meal for two included the calamary apitizer, surf and turf for her and a margarita. I had the butterfish. The buttrfish was great, but we wont likely try the surf and turf again. The filet was ok, but the crab topping with turmuric sauce wasnt that great. The lobster was very good. We also shared the pineapple upside down cake which was absolutely incredible. We tried their Hawaiian vanilla creme brule' which is a mistake we wil, never repeat. The texture was weird, as if they used flour when making the custard. Our waitress was wonderful despite being very busy. We will give Roy's another try just because of how great she was. The whole experrience cost just under $"
