"I went on a Wed night, and they seemed busy but they didn't look busy. Service was not too great, and food was so so. Sea bass was dry. Calamari was too salty. butterfish was above average. But overall, we will not go again.
However, hawaiian margherhita was good. coffee and souflee was excellent."

"Roy's has always been a great spot for dining particularly with friends and we've always had a good experience. This time we wanted to have a nice "date" night, not necessarily celebrating a special occasion. The wait staff was very professional, pleasant and efficient. The meal however was rushed to the point we felt like we were "processed". Our meal showed up within 10 seconds of our finishing the appetizer. The petit filet was rare and the crab cake was luke warm despite having just come from the kitchen and we were seating next to the kitchen. This is a very busy restaurant and very loud; if you want a romantic evening - - or even be able to hear your own conversation, best to go during the week."

"Was celebrating a bday on a Sunday evening. Roy's was busy but not packed. Mike was a friendly waiter but the bar and kitchen didnt do him justice. Very slow turnaround in between courses and wins with dinner came after we finished. Mgmt made it right but I wouldn't return"

"So I've been to Roy's a number of times. I consider myself a foodie and usually stay far away from chains, but this upscale chain has the right formula. THe food is sublime, although I do wish they'd change up the menu more or I'd come more often. But what really stands out is the service. I spent mother's day there this time. Me, my husband, my MIL, my mom, my dad and my two sons (ages 6 and 4). My MIL is Celiac and they had a whole separate menu for her, which was refreshing. This is the only upscale restaurant that I'm aware of that has a children's "upscale" menu with options a child would enjoy...actually had 3 courses...just like an adult prefix. This kept them busy the whole time making it enjoyable for all."

"We went to Roy's for our first wedding anniversary. We had arrived early hoping to have a couple of drinks at the bar before dinner, but the bar was so packed because of happy hour (on Sunday night?) we could not sit down. This was disappointing that we could not start off our evening as we had hoped. The sashimi & sushi appetizers were great. The entrees were a too saucy for my taste...i like the fish to stand out on its own. The snapper entree had a lot of tartar sauce on the plate which took away from the wonderful snapper. The butterfish entree was unnecessarily drenched in a barbecue sauce. Overall a good meal, but not memorable. Probably would be better for a party of 4 or more, than for a special date night out."

"The food at Roy's is fabulous. It takes Hawaiian specialties and adds asophisticated flare. The ahi poke martini with spicy mustard has a nice zing. Try the lump crab on pretzel rolls. My macademia-crusted mahi mahi was perfectly cooked. And the chocolate souffle was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Although the tables are well-spaced, it can be a little loud when the restaurant is crowded. But the food and service are worth the noise. The restaurant staff was also very accommodating to one of my guests who is in a wheelchair. I'd definitely go back to Roy's."

"My first trip to Roy's was very pleasant. Valet parking out front, Awesome waitress, Excellent food. When my entree showed up I wanted to take a picture of it instead of eat it. The only thing that bothered me was how NOISY it was. I don't like having to yell at the person I am trying to talk to across the table. Not exactly romantic, but... the food makes up for that."

"From start to finish the service was poor. We were not seated for a 7pm reservation until almost 7:30. Insufficient staffing left long waits though out the meal. The wait staff was not able to answer simple questions about the menu and wine list. The wait staff did not recognize the birthday celebration at the table even though we had the card from the hostess. The final nail was the valet were we waited almost 30 minutes for our car."

"Our food at Roy's was awesome and we had a great time! I would highly recommend Roy's- I had the butterfish and my fiancé had the macadamia nut crusted mahi- both were terrific. We also had the spare ribs and the pineapple upside down cake. Everything was delicious. The service was very prompt as well. Only down side, the loud, obnoxious children next to us climbing on their chairs and jumping up and down. This isn't really a kid friendly place and it was very disruptive to have them there.
We will definitely be back!"

"We tried Roy's on our date night for my husband's 40th birthday. We spoiled ourselves and got a bit more than we normally would have (like the $26 appetizer), and the food was EXCELLENT. While we really enjoyed our experience, we did think it was overpriced. We got a total of 1 appetizer, 3 drinks, 2 entrees and a dessert, about our bill was more than $140. Our portions were reasonable, but not large. the $26 app had $26 taste, but $15 portion size. We both agreed that this is a great special occasion restaurant, but too expensive for a normal date night. This being said... I cannot overestimate how excellent the food was. Foodies would love this place."

"My party of three dined at Roy's on a Sunday evening around 6 pm. The bar area was full and people appeared to be having a good time. There were several tables reserved for large parties in our dining area. By the time we left, all tables were full. We dined in the room near the bar. The other dining area included a counter with chairs which overlooked the kitchen. Perhaps the other dining area was quieter, since it wasn't adjacent to the bar. If you prefer a more quiet atmosphere, request the back area. I thought the noise level was loud, but my companions didn't agree with me. I think this would be quite a lot of fun with a group."

"I enjoyed the atmosphere and the vibe, the only thing I did not like was the attitude of the hostess. The hostess is a pregnant lady, she asked my name and I said Sanchez. She then had this Batlimore attitude and said, "I cannot find no Sampson" I replied Sanchez, she asked again, and I again said Sanchez. Her next remark was, "you said Sampson" and I looked at her with a puzzled look. I know I said Sanchez! She then did this head and neck attitude expression and was like, "you are gonna have to wait for your table to get ready." This was the start to my evening in your restaurant. I was displeased but ignored it, the evening did turn out to be a good time. Just thought that the customer service at hosting needs to lighten up, thank you!"

"Roy's has gone downhill. The appetizers (canoe for two) were undercooked and the dinner was way overdone and cold (hangar steak). The scallops had good flavor but they were also overcooked. The waiter was nice but could have been more knowledgeable about the menu. We sat at the bar while waiting for our table and heard several of the waiters including a manager talking negatively about their tables. Definitely not professional. The whole experience was chaotic. They say that it is Hawaiian fusion but it was more like Hawaiian confusion.They will probably always draw well due to their location but you would be much better off going to any of the other nearby establishments. Would not go back."

"Service was friendly and thorough although our server had another table and was a bit late on our second drinks.. Her appetizer (mushroom ravioli with scallop) was overlooked but flavorful, however one of their signature dishes, butter fish, came out very overlooked and we sent that back. A new one came in 2 minutes . They apologized with a crime brûlée which was delicious and light. I did the sampler canoe for 2 as my entree and the spare ribs were the star. Wished the tempura roll came with wasabi or soy for dipping. We like it there but the 2 misses made this trip a bit peeving. We will go there again however, especially for aloha hour."

"Food was exceptionally good. The chocolate flourless cake was not as decadent as the first time that I tried it and my foody honey that was with me was not impressed, in fact he did not touch it at all. But, he loved the salmon and ate half of my macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, although he commented that he wished that they had a better variety of sides. Needless to say, he does not drink alcohol and they made a wonderful fruit punch for him out of some very fresh juice, phenomenal. All in all, Roy's did not dissapoint and we will be returning again in the future. Oh, he had a lobster risotto that he could NOT stop raving about!"

"Great food.My one complaint was that my steak came out very undercooked (for me and not what I ordered). So the waitress went back to get another one even though I offered her my steak. I wanted to keep my lobster so I would have something to eat while my dinner friends ate. She came back after a time and said they could make a new one (10 mins) or cook mine (3min) but this was after she was gone for a time dealing with other tables. I gave her my steak and it came back cooked properly (more like 10 min). It was delicious but everyone else was done, my sides were cold. This could have been handled differently. Everything was delicious from drinks to desserts, I just think this could have been better handled."
