"I have been here many of other times. The food is always good. The service could be a little more freindly. They seem to be rushing everywhere and there was not alot people to have the wait staff rushing. It is a good restaurant to bring family from out of town to see the coast. Also to relax, an enjoy a nice wine or a warming drink. I would recommend it for the couples and out of town family visitors. It does have some nice history and ambiance."

"We went for Valentine's Day brunch so we expected the crowd and high prices. The service was great; they constantly refilled the mimosas :-). Both our server Debbie and the bartender (with whom we chatted while waiting for our table to be ready) were friendly. The look of the place inside was not what I expected though. The views were great, but the interior was neither historic or updated. It was kinda blue bland (after the Blue Lady I guess) and the downstairs lounge area kinda reminded me of a basement home bar or a dive bar at the coast. My one thought about the food was that I expected more oysters in my oysters and eggs. I only got two kinda small ones. I expected it mixed in or something. Oh well. The crab cake benedict looked yummy."

"The Moss Beach Distillery is a Gem among the scenic beauty of the Northern California Coast. To start, the location of the restaurant over looks the breathtaking coastline just north of Half Moon Bay. Everywhere the view from the dinning room was "AWESOME". The staff at the Distillery is always very welcoming and friendly. They are quick to address any needs and questions you may have about the food. "At busy times, parking could be a great problem, but I found a space, luckily, on Valentine's Day evening. Food was nothing shout about, but good, but VERY OVERPRICED! My guests and we were not please that we could not order from the regular menu. There web site said something like, "Valentine's Day Price Fixe Menu is available..." IT DID NOT SAY IT WAS REQUIRED!!! There was not sufficient selection from the Price Fixe menu, and, again, VERY OVERPRICED! Might try again on a non-special day or occasion, but not until I have a LOT of extra $$$$$!"

"The Valentine Day bunch arrangements were OK. The greeting into the resturant was a bit hectic. Wait staff were blocking entrance and some arguing between the staff. Once seated the views were stunning. Initial service was slow, but once it began, service was very attentive and prompt. Plenty of timely refills on the Mirmosa's and bloody mary's were top notch. Food was served warm but not hot and taste was just "good". Overall was disappointing in consideration for the $50 per person price tag. Would go back on a non-holiday to enjoy the views, grab a drink and appetizers. Dinner or lunch probably not."

"After this second visit to Moss Beach Distillery, we found the charm, value, and food excellence to be lacking. The halibut we had just two years before for $19.95 had jumped to $33! And the preparation had changed...in fact, it tasted frozen. The entire menu has jumped in price so much, I have to rate it overpriced for the menu and quality. Still the best fried artichoke hearts around and the view is fantastic."

"The view from the dining rooms is terrific. The food was just ok. We went for Brunch and the dishes came out barely warm. The place wasn't very busy at all, so I don't know why our food wasn't served hot. The dishes themselves were mediocre. My husband ordered eggs and oysters. When the dish came it was just two small oysters on top of overcooked scrambled eggs. On the plus side, you get unlimited mimosas and baskets of warm pastries - which were pretty good."

"1st built in the 1920's on the backside of the Half Moon Bay Airport on a cliff overlooking the ocean, we didn't get good vibes from the locals when asked about the restaurant. After our experience, however, we think it is because the food is very expensive ($$$$). While Executive Chef Brian was not cooking this night, the food was marvelous, the service attentive and the atmosphere enjoyable - including the mystery surrounding the ghost that haunts the place, the "Blue Lady." If you can brave the cool air, you can eat/have drinks on the patio overlooking the sea next to a roaring open pit fire. Highly recommended."

"I heard the view was fantastic, and was expecting high prices because of that. What I didn't expect was food that didn't compare. For $140 2 of us had an appetizer, drink, and dinner entree. Very pricey for less than average food. Our tuna appetizer was great, and my husbands linguini del mar was good, but my clam chowder was just average, and my skirt steak was not good at all. It was supposed to have a blue cheese sauce, but I think it was half a jar of blue cheese dressing on my plate. The decor was also unexpected. Old brown tables with expandable portions that fold underneath. Since we couldn't enjoy the view at night, we really did not enjoy ourselves at all."

"We had a remarkable time. Being that it was Thanksgiving Day, I can understand the "energetic" noise level. The "traditional" dinner looked and, I was told, tasted wonderful. The food was good; nicely seasoned, especially the stuffing and potatoes. The turkey was dry but tasty. The menu made it unclear that the pumpkin pie was not included in the meal, and the fact that we would have had to pay extra for the pie part of Thanksgiving seemed rather odd to both of us. They honored our request for a window seat with view of the water, even though the place was crowded that evening. I would suggest they invest in some new tables and chairs, as the ones we sat in felt as though they might collapse at any minute. Overall though, this place is a good spot for a casual meal with a nice view."

"Our experience was amazing, like usual. There was a mix up when we made our reservations, whch was no big deal to us, but we had 3 people apologize to us when we got there an could tell it was a big deal to them. We went early and sat in the bar for appetizers and service throughout the night was friendly and accomodating."
Special Features: fit for foodies, good for groups, romantic, special occasion, scenic view, great for lunch
