"Food was good, but not WoW! My colleague's bacon wrapped pork tenderloin (a "signature dish") was tasty but FAR too much food: three towers of 2 inch tall tenderloin was 2-3 too many. Two days later, I can't remember what I ordered. Maybe it was the Halibut. Good food, but not memorable.

Also, I was bit surprised when the waiter mentioned Char in a dish he was featuring. When I expressed enthusiam for the Char, and wondered if I could purchase an extra portion or a side order, the waiter said he did not think the Chef would permit it. (Whatever happened to "Give the customer what he wants").

Extensive wine selection with some good labels; far better than average...but very expensive: avg 3-4X mark-up."

"Dinner for four: The server didn't write any of our orders down, and had to return to ask us again what we ordered. When the amuse bouche arrived, all four servings had pork in them despite the fact we notified the server of one vegetarian. Worse yet, our vegetarian's appetizer (the beet carpaccio) arrived about five minutes after my duck and my girlfriend's oysters. Finally, the wine pairings arrived 10-15 minutes late for each course. When asked, the server could not tell us anything about the dishes other than what she believed was popular with other diners. Overall, the food was very good, but the service didn't live up to their Michelin star. For fine dining, I prefer Michael Mina or Jardiniere."

"In spite of living in San Francisco for many years, I really didn't know anything about One Market. I picked it, quite frankly, for its proximity to the BART station as girlfriends from the East Bay were joining my for dinner. However, when I told my husband where we were headed for dinner, he made some offhand comment about the fact that we never go anywhere that fancy. Only then did I look at the website are begin to undertand what he was fussing about. A Michelin Star right under my nose all this time?

I had the "Weekly Beast" 5 course tasting menu. I was a little worried that I'd be ducked out my the second course, but it did not disappoint... a very interesting mix flavors. Definetly workth another visit!"

"The last time we ate here, we had a wonderful experience. This time was quite different. While the food was good overall, the kitchen service was extreme slow to the point we were staring at the kitchen. We had waited all day to eat and this seemed to be a big mistake. Then, we had to deal with the table being uneven. It kept rocking back and forth. We were there for our anniversary and found holding hands very difficult with the table rocking any time you touched it. Also, once the waiter realized we went going to order much wine, he basically did the minimum. He did apologize for the slow service and that was appreciated. I am not sure if we will go back, but my husband feels it is worth one more try. The bar looked very lively for a tues"

"It had been two years since our last visit. This time we went on a fairly slow Friday evening. The service was pretty bad considering the restaurant wasn't that crowded. Our server did not check in very often. Our portions were small and they came out of the kitchen less than hot - I think this might have been the issue with our server. "The food is excellent. However, the wait staff is way too pushy and unaccommodating, enough so to make the experience uncomfortable. We made it clear that we were ordering one dessert and were asked if we wanted two. We were repeatedly asked if we wanted additional drinks. Also, Diners are made to feel that requests for simple substitions are a great imposition. What could be so difficult about substituting a side salad for fries?"

"I dine often at One Market because it's a great place for a business lunch--nice food and service. It would be better if they didn't insist on hard selling beverages, extra food, and dessert. How many times do I have to say, "water," before they don't ask 100 times if I want ice tea, special ice tea, sparkling ice tea, etc? It detracts from a great experience."

"I had the Beef Whole Animal menu. While the food was interesting, it was as not good as I thought it might/could have been. The oxtail consumme was delicious, the beef tongue salad was a little bland (I'm used to beef tongue tacos that are much more flavorful), the roasted beef heart was interesting and the braised beef shank was terrific. My wife had the 3-course dinner with the BLT salad, the Alaskan Halibut. Those dishes were all very tasty. Desserts were good but not memorable. In all, an excellent dinner."

They have a great 3-course for $39 if it's just a couple friends out, or right now they have "whole animal" menus you could really make it a treat. "Our dining experience was very good. Food was well-prepared with excellent presentation and very good pairing. Our server was excellent and very patient with our questions. Menu provided an excellent choice and portions were good. Very good value!

Only one minor negative note. While waiting for our reservation time, we tried to have a before dinner cocktail. It took about 20 minutes to get a drink and it seemed that the bar server was also trying to buss tables in the main dining room. She was pleasant but obviously trying to cover too many things at once.

I would recommend this restaurant to our friends."

"Our server was sweet and friendly, but she seemed to be very inexperienced and/or poorly trained. There were several errors with our orders, literally every course, from our drink order when we sat down, right through dessert; and we were eating early, before they got busy, and ordering straight off the menu, no special requests, substitutions or anything like that. It was a train wreck. The food was all delicious, but the service problems were such a distraction that it prevented enjoying what should have been a very nice meal. They really need to straighten out their front of the house if they hope to retain that Michelin star."

"Food was excellent and nice to see not resting on Bradley Ogden name from past. Had just received Michelin 2009 star and the kitchen was up to the recognition. We had a late lunch but everything worked with a nice corner seat with a fun view as a reward missing the rush. "Had an amazing birthday lunch! The restaurant staff made me feel very special with their attention to detail. Great food with a classic, only-in-san-francisco view of the Ferry Building clock tower and the Embarcadero. Hard to beat! We were a table of two there for a special occasion. Saw many "business-type" people having lunch, but everyone looked comfortable and seem to be enjoying themselves. Will go back as often as I can."

"The snapper, spinach, and roasted beets were all delicious, however our waiter was impatient and curt on several occasions when we asked him questions. The good part was that he asked the manager to speak with us and he was very helpful and responsive. It was a mistake for one of us to have ordered the tasting menu because the timing of the dishes was out of syn with the rest of our group. Unfortunately, the last dish was the only thing on the menu my sister really wanted. She couldn't order it as an entree so she ordered the tasting menu and then it came late enough that we were all ready for dessert."

"We were visiting San Francisco on a Saturday evening to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday.

We ordered the duck breast, the pork, Ahi and Scallops. All entrees were delicious. Our side dishes did not arrive at the table until we were already half way through the meal and only then after I reminded the waiter we had ordered sides. Also, I ordered the soup as a starter and it never arrived at the table. Drinks were watered down...not very good."

"Excellent Fine Dining restaurant. This is my second fine dining restaurant, and I have to say the tasting menu is VERY affordable. Where else can you get 6 courses for $79? I heard it used to be 7 courses. Even the 5 course is a steal at $49. Seriously. The table next to me got the cheaper set meal and I guarantee you it was delicious. So was my meal.

My server was definitely very friendly and helpful. Foodwise though, I expected a little more. I wanted a little more from a Michelin star restaurant. To be honest, Boulevard is a little better. I came here primarily because I saw this restaurant on Hells Kitchen. Yelp's 3.5 stars makes it seem a little meh. I'd say it's a 4 star in my book while Boulevard is a 4.5."

"The food & waitstaff were great. Menu is full of choices for everyone! We had a great time with one exception.... the Hostess was VERY rude to me, other diners and some of the staff who was setting up the tables for the dinner crowd. "Restaurant was extremely crowded - but even so, there is no excuse for it taking more than 20 minutes between the time one course is cleared and the next arrives - which happened on every course. "My best friend and I were celebrating out 5years anniversary with our significant others and our boss. Off the bat we were impressed with the overall ambiance and decor of the space, but it went down hill fast when our server Jo'phine started in about the specials. We asked about ordering some cocktails but she rambled on and on and on about the daily specials. Not to mention that she was impossible to understand - made it a challenge to figure out what she was saying to us, let alone a challenge to figure out if she was even listening to us. We never expected to have a our dinner last 3 hours!!! The service from the time we sat down to the time she took out order was on slow motion! We chopped the nigt up to an experience - a very long one"

"Sorry to say, we did not enjoy our dinner at One Market. Your restaurant came higly recommended, we were not as impressed. We were disappointed by the lack of beef entrees on the menu. My husband ordered the only beef item on the menu (NY Strip), while cooked to his liking, the side selections were disappointing, thus he ordered none. I was pleased to see halibut on the menu and promptly ordered same for my dinner entree, however, was extremely disappointed with how it was cooked, was that boiled? (poached or grilled, I love). Whatever it was placed atop was not palatable, the mushroom accompaniement was good. We're from San Diego and I love seafood, not deep fried if that's what you're thinking. We did enjoy the sorbet dessert."

"Having dined at One Market many times before I was disappointed with the service and quality of food we received on our last visit to San Francisco. We were required to wait 25 minutes for our table; our appetizers were served cold and on cold plates; the kitchen ran out of bread and one of the standard entrees without alerting the wait staff. All of this being said, the management acted accordingly once alerted by me. It was distressing that our server didn't feel compelled or empowered to notify the management. I realize that all newer restaurants can have an "off" night, but I would not expect an establishment the calibre or longevity of One Market to be one of those."

"Simply the best overall dining experience that I have enjoyed in the US in months. Would most likely make my all time best restaurant experience top 10 list in the world. This is a restaurant that takes pride in the fact that they have achieved a Michelin Star, but still has something to prove to the older standards in the city... Their desire and pursuit of excellence was clearly evident throughout the evening. I personally love to experience young restaurants that have achieved culinary milestones (such as a Michelin Star), before they allow it to "go to their heads". One Market is such a place. Keep up the the passion for culinary excellence and more stars shall be in your future. Thanks for a memorable experience!"

"The food including the quality of cooking is very good. I would have given them 4 stars for food also if it had not been for the high level of salt used. "Very good service. Main course (duck) was small in portion and very badly over salted - but because we ate it and only mentioned this after we'd finished (hey, we were hungry!), there was no compensation offered so if you have a problem let them know immediately (yes, I know we should have done that and I am sure they would have been very good about it). Dessert was pleasant though not startling. Well over priced for what was served up.
Unfortunately this was the second 'not great quality and poor value for money' experience here, so won't be coming back. There's a great Peruvian restaurant over the road I can recommend!"

"I took three visitors, who were here to speak at a conference, to dinner at One Market. It couldn't have been better. The food was incredible. We lingered over our meal with great conversation and couldn't believe how much time had passed when we finished desert. A lovely, leisurely, elegant meal.

"The waiter was excellent on the wine list and he was eager to accept our suggestions on how it could be better. I dined with an ex-owner of a major wine label. "One Market honestly surprised me - I had been there for drinks many times, but only recently had dinner there with a colleague. The space was beautiful and the service fantastic. The food was completely different to anything I've eaten before; I had the crab cake salad for an appetizer and the Thai Snapper for a main dish. Although both had a slightly bizarre presentation (e.g. foam on the snapper), they were equally delicious. Overall, a great place for a nice dinner out in SF!"

"I think the dining room is beautiful and the ambiance was great. The food was all pretty good. I had the halibut and it was very moist however the accompaning sides were a little weak. I found the service to be a little too attentive. There was far too much information and highlights given by our server. It was like he was reading us a book. The server got to the point of being overly chatty at the table. I was interrupted at least 3 times talking to my guests by the server so he could explain every single dish in detail. Every course that came he felt he needed to give the description again and again even though this was covered in the menu. It was strange to say the very least and all at the table found in intrusive and annoying."

"I have read some of the reviews posted here and here is my take for lunch: We were met immediately at the front and presented to our table. Menus arrived and drinks were ordered and delivered haphazardly. The 8 oysters ordered arrived in two plates since only 4 arrived first. Appetizers: smoked trout on a potato pancake was like smoked salmon and the crab cakes were mushy! Entres: the Halibut Cheeks I ordered were fair at best, the Ahi Tuna Burger was tasteless, and the Sausage was okay. All and all, not the ultimate dining experience and not at all economical. But the service was not as bad as others experienced. Try Boulevard on the next block over."

"One Market has earned a coveted Michelin Star, and after tasting their food, it isn't hard to see why. The food was delicious to the last bite, and the sommelier was very helpful in pairing the right wine with our dinner. We were served an amuse bouche of rare tuna with wasabi roe that was divine. We started with a tomatillo gazpacho that was refreshing and very flavorful. We both had the roast of the day - fresh Berkshire ham with an amazing spiced fig compote."

"One Market Restaurant was very fabulous !!!!! Chris, our Waiter, was very attentive and very knowledgeable !!! Chris was very friendly and very outgoing !!!

Our plates and our untensils were cleared, after everyhting, we ate.

Chris gave great Service, to us !!!

One Market Restaurant and it's Staff are very amazing and so awesome !!!!

My Husband, Jim, had a great expereience, at One Market Restaurant, for my Birthday Celebration !!!!!

Absolutely wonderful Restaurant with fabulous Food, Fantastic Ambiance, Outstanding Service, and a wonderful and great Dining experience !!!!!

"Our evening at One Market could have been perfect if we had a different server.

The ambiance was sophisticated (although the bar did not exude a feeling of warmth) and the restaurant well staffed. The food was beautifully plated and each dish lived up to the description on the menu. The Tomatillo Gazpacho was superb. Our table also ordered the crab salad, Caesar salad, New York steak and pork tenderloin and all were prepared with top-quality, creative combinations of ingredients.

With the exception of our server, the service of all of the staff was very attentive without cloying. Our server was another story, alternating between stalking and neglect. And downright rudeness."

"We were not impressed. The food was uninteresting and overpriced. If there are 4 or more of you, there are tables and booths, but if there are two of you, you sit very close to other couples - I was closer to my neighbors than I was to my wife. We weren't expecting an intimate setting, but we were expecting to be able to hear each other better than the conversation of the person next to us."

"One Market once again came through in all areas--food, service etc. were excellent. The Squash Blossoms were fantastic as was the halibut. The server did a great job of explaining the menu and making recommendatons. The only slight problem was that the white wine bottle was too warm and we had to request a wine bucket."

"My daughter and I had lunch at the restaurant as a treat for her birthday. The restaurant met all expectations as a special place for a special meal. The wine list was good, the service excellent if a bit "pushy". We had a waitress working hard to sell us extras, which was a bit off putting. My daughter ordered a Cobb Salad, expecting the ordered,structured salad everyone serves. When it came out, it was surprising but she ended up eating most of it. The soft boiled quail eggs were left on the plate. All in all, a very nice experience and we'd come again."

"One Market well deserves its Michelin star. Interesting and varied menu, great preparation, great presentation, great tastes. Large space, can get busy--but never noisy or bustling given the two-story ceiling and open space. And a bonus: good value. Portions are substantial, and surprisingly, menu prices are not. Our terrier was quite pleased with a leftover bite of pork tenderloin! The three-course prix fixe may be one of the best bargains in the city. Given its location this is the sort of place you'd love to see with sidewalk tables."

"For us few lovers of veal chops, be advised the Wed special has been changed to bavet slices - ho hum, not interested, thanks. Instead had stuffed squash blossoms with chevre - luscious! Pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon was perfect and like all of chef Mark Dommen's meat dishes, a massive serving that will satisfy the hungriest of carnivores. Dommen's plates are complex yet beautifully balanced on the palate. You can taste all the different ingredients individually, even as they blend together perfectly. He has really brought One Market up to the level it always should have been but never really was. Bravo, Dommen! (and we'll be back on Tues for the Prime Rib special...)"

"lunch was fab; good food, unusual combinations, plating attractive, service great; very loud, although when the people behind us - we were in a booth facing the street - left, the noise level dropped a bit, but overall the experience was just great. Both my friend and I consider ourselves "gourmet", or specialty food cooks, so the menu enticed, there were aspects of it which surprised and inspired."

"I made reservations in advance, and the place was half empty, yet they walked us over to a small table for 2 when more spacious ones with a window view were in sight. We asked for another table and got one where we had more room, although not near a window. We ordered several dishes, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 fancy drinks, dessert, side vegetable, etc and needed the table space.
We spared no expense for lunch $125 not including tip.It was good food but I always get turned off when one has reservations and receives a table as if one just stepped inside at the last minute."
