"Energetic, semi-casual dining room, lots of people on Saturday night. Small plates so easy to stay on diet, except for that wonderful warm grilled bread that we had second basket! Food very fresh, well presented, eggplant parmesan melted in mouth, branzino is crisp and spinach fresh. Seafood pasta good, but not spicy enough - next time will ask for more spice/garlic. Definitely going back and ok to show up in jeans and sweater. Small, acceptable wine list. This place doesn't pretend; is comfortable restaurant. Hope this incarnation stays for a while."

"We visited on a Sunday and an off hour - two pm. We were greeted warmly by Maria. Immediately you have the feeling that the Italian origins of the establishment are authentic. The bread was delightful, the olive oil fresh. But the "veal ossobuco agnolotti with parmigiano sauce" was indescribably original and perfect. The portions were not huge so you can try a number of things - we had an excellent rapini and some lasagna with this and a very good house Chianti. There is not a huge menu as the emphasis is on making each item as best as it can be vs. appealing to a mass audience like some unmentionable chains masquerading as Italian restaurants."

"Although everyone is very pleasant, the busboys are slightly clueless. Point in fact: Without asking pouring regular water into a glass with sparkling water then bringing a new bottle of sparking water to the table for which we were charged!

The noise level is unacceptable. It is not understandable to me anymore how restaurants think that it's acceptable to have to scream at the person across from you to be heard. The four of us will probably never go back because of this."

"went for lunch on a sunday with a party of four. we all ordered different things; everybody's was good. excellent homestyle (if your home is in rome) pastas; branzino; good desserts. menu is more extensive for dinner, but i think something for everyone. well-priced for its quality."

"Minestraio has once again reinvented itself, although this time on a smaller scale. I liked the original change from the upscale La Terza. And it seems like they have listened to their critics. The menus are no longer printed on paper placemats and are now in folios. They've now changed the format to "Italian tapas". The pasta portions are now smaller...but at half the price. We frequent this neighborhood restaurant often, and now like that we can try many of the delicious pastas at essentially the same cost. The service is acceptable, although can be a bit slower when the restaurant is busier. I'm hoping this place survives the economy, it's a great place to stop in when you've got an Italian craving."

"Wow, this place sure improved since out last visit, six months ago. They now specialize in small plates and they are excellent! Don't count on a quiet conversation. It's a hoot and a great scene."

"I took my boyfriend and his family there for his birthday dinner and it was absolutely fabulous. We had been there before, when it was La Terza (which was really good), but they've outdone themselves. I love the idea of small portions/tapas style because we were all able to share our plates. We had the octopus salad (super tender and delish), the lasagna (best in town), the osso bucco with saffron risotto (fall of the bone, melt in your mouth delight), the meat balls (super tasty) and for dessert we had the tiramisu and the panna cotta with warm apples (absolute heaven). The prices were very reasonable as well. We will definitely come back!"

"I was there on Christmas so it probably isn't completely fair but they were only seating the lower level and the noise was deafening. It was a limited menu for that night but it was OK. As it was very hard to hear our friends-the evening was not as pleasant as we'd hoped."
