"We had another marvelous dinner at El Gaucho in Tacoma - Anne Marie, our server, made sure we had a wonderful dinner. The steaks and seafood were superb - the soups and salads we had as appetizers were excellent, and the overall evening was fantastic. The excellent wine and drinks rounded out a great dining experience."

"This is a very special restaurant, especially for special occasion dining. Lovely touches such as: I was offered a black cloth napkin since I was wearing black trousers (white cloth leaves lint) and little flashlights if it's too dark to see the menu well. The food was outstanding: we had the Chateaubriand for two, and it was perfection. Portions are very generous (We made another meal for both of us with the leftovers and a dessert shared by two is a good idea.). The service was impeccable: attentive without hovering. Live music, that began began at 6:00 p.m., was a bit loud at times, but I could find no fault with the music itself. We will go again! Save up, because quality comes at quite a price."

"A fantastic dining experience!! All the food selections were fantastic, especially the Steak El Gaucho. The wines, the service, the desert offered for my wifes’ birthday, the ambience---all were incredible!!!

"the prices are high but the food is excellent. The restaurant seems extremely dark when you first step in. but the lighting and the live piano make for great ambiance. They made the Caesar salad from scratch at the table. The waitress explained what each ingredient added to the flavor as she made it. It was the best Caesar I've ever had. The New York steak was top notch and they helped me pair it with a great Merlot. The 1978 Tawny port I had with desert was the best port I've ever had and finished off the meal perfectly."

"The service was excellent but we were not wowed by our food. It was good, but the steaks were overcooked. Their flavor and the meal as a whole was good, but being overdone was a disappointment. Our server told us that Medium would be a red center and there was barely detectable pink in any of the 3 steaks. We just expected more from El Gaucho."

"This is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. You walk up to a plain brick building and it's like OZ when you open the door. The ambiance is amazing; the piano was perfect and he played forever. As you would expect the steaks are top quality, salads are served tableside (Ceasar). My husband had Oysters Rockefeller and felt they were one of the best he's sampled. In addition, the service is perfect. This is a special restaurant to go when you want to celebrate a special night.
Unfortunately, you will pay for all of this perfection. Hence, if you're on a budget I would recommend checking their menu on line. Note: They do NOT comp your $6 valet parking ($10 w/tip). That's a bit of a slap!"

"Wonderful ambience and memorable cuisine that directly reflects the care and service lent by the staff. The enticing menu may be $$$$ for some but the first taste reminds you why you pay for such table side prepared meals. This establishment reminds me of greater inner city midwest/ east coast steak houses but with better service. As a self taught cook I enjoy finer foods prepared by myself at home than most enjoy at restaraunts.That being said I would highly recommend El Gaucho for any event or dining experience. The pianist is so enjoyable......great voice and fun songs!"

"This was our second time back to this location and we were very satisfied with the great service and awesome food. You won't be disappointed. My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary here, and we received the same royal treatment as we did the the last time we dined here. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this place if you want to celebrate a special occasion or want to have a romantic dinner with that special someone."

"We loved our experience once again. The waiter made our special evening the best experience there ever. We would have liked to sit closer together as the table made us feel like we were a mile apart. Other than the fact that you no longer have the osterich with the portabello mushroom sauce, which for years has been my favorite, I am always satisified with the food and service. The martini was one of the best ever and the waiters are always accommadating when I ask them for blue cheese stuffed olives in it! Wicked shrimp is the best! Wonderful evening!"

"This was our fourth visit to El Gaucho and we were not disappointed. We were celebrating our son's birthday and he was wished well by many of the staff. The service was prompt and pleasant, the food was exceptional, and we all enjoyed our meal. We loved the bar piano and the ambiance is lively while being warm and clubby. The one letdown was we did not remember being wished a pleasant evening by our waiter upon bringing our check. I guess this is a small thing but it left an impression that he had moved on after he was done serving us."

"The food was good and the service was good the only issue I had was I think I received & paid somebody else’s bill, I did not realize it till after I left.
1 Tenderloin Diablo $18, 3 people nice dinners (bass ?$, rib chop $68 & ribs $36) 2 drinks ea. 1 Bacardi & coke, 2 Stella’s 2 tangeri & tonic 1 don Julio sunrise. a side salad $9 a side potatoes $11 & 1 desert was $288 and tip made it $340, this bill should have been $210 or so?"

"The food at El Gaucho's is always great, they always take the time to prepare the appetizers ad entrees just right. The service was prompt and attentive. However, the manner in which they hovered over the table suggesting more wine and drinks was irrating. When my party decided that we were done with drinking full bottles of wine, they started suggesting glasses of wine that were over priced, $51.00. Really fellas!"

"I have been in the restaurant business for over 17 years and honestly was unimpressed. The server made us feel like we were a joke to him. Took a while to get a drink order in and when it wasnt alcohol we ordered it seemed even more unimportant to him. Quite a few other people that worked there had to check on us. I asked if the air could be turned down just a little and it never happened so I sat with goose bumps for over two hours. The time it took between courses was ridiculous also. For a salad, entree, and dessert it was over two hours. Yes this was a special occasion and a romantic dinner out for my husband and I but honestly I felt like we were starving or forgotten between each course."
