Americano features robust Italian farm-to-table cuisine with an emphasis on the philosophies of the Slow Food movement. Chef Kory Stewart features a refreshing interpretation of Italian classics prepared with ingredients from the Ferry Building's farmer's market and Bay Area artisan Producers.
"The Americano was an excellent choice for lunch. The atmosphere is lovely and the food and service are outstanding. The staff was very attentive but not overly friendly (which is a good thing in a restaurant!) Our party enjoyed our time at the Americano."

"I had a wonderful birthday dinner at the Americano. The service was excellent and the view on this sparkling, sunny day was wonderful. My companion and I started with a complimentary arancini. We shared a seafood risotto which had an incredible sauce that you wanted to mop up every drop of essence. We then shared a sea bass with prawn gnochetti and asparagus bits. This dish just shouted Spring! For dessert, I enjoyed the chocolate budino with salted caramel bits and creme fraiche whipped cream. My companion had the chocolate and peanut butter pot de creme. The staff was so nice. The maitre'd brought out my birthday budino with a lit candle on it and the server wished me a happy birthday at the beginning and end of the service. Great meal!"

"Loved the appetizers the most. We were happy to have a table where you could see the Bay Bridge, at least in part. I also enjoyed breakfast here, outside, after running the SF Marathon. What a treat."

"The restaurant was great, the bar, which is adjacent, was an absolute madhouse. We had a great table so the noise was minimal in comparison. Waiter was great, bought us a desert wine, the food was yummy."

"Very small portions for high prices. Ingredients seem to be of high quality but dish was bland. Lighting, especially in back of restaurant particularly poor. It was so dark menu was unreadable without flashlight."

"The bar scene was so exuberant on a Friday night--perhaps a private party?--that the noise level in the dining room was a bit overwhelming. But the food and service still made it worth the visit."

"The food was nothing special at all, in fact the pasta was over cooked and incredibly salty. The server was polite and attentive. The dining room was virtually empty on a Friday night at 8 pm but the bar seemed to be full of people who had lingered after work for drinks and appetizers. Overall, I'd not recommend the restaurant but the bar looked like fun."

"I dined on a Thursday evening about 7 PM. It was very busy with a lot of happy hour traffic that cleared between 7-8. Menu has a good variety of appetizers that can be grouped to make a meal or are large enough for sharing. I had the yummy kale. Mushroom pizza followed. It was very tasty with a lot of mushrooms. Focus on local sourcing.
Service was attentive."

"A bit quiet, as it's a hotel restaurant, but the Hollandaise was very good and I enjoyed my omelette very much. We were friends reconnecting across the continent so appreciated the good food and the quiet environment."

"This year's crab fest was their most outstanding yet! And interaction with hotel management as well as the chef was an added bonus. Excellent evening and excellent value."

"What I like about Cafe Americano: food is always tasty, great variety of menu choices, fun assortment of appetizers, SERVICE always both friendly and well-executed, and availability for reservations is great. The pizzas are EXCELLENT!
I almost hate to give Cafe Americano a great review because I love the ease of getting a table and the relatively quiet, relaxed atmosphere. I don't want increased popularity to spoil my new favorite spot for a "treat" lunch!"

"The setting was lovely, but the food was disappointing, especially the pasta -- mushroom flavor not distinctive. Overall, the food was too heavy. I would return for a glass of wine and 1 or 2 appetizers, but no main dishes."
