"The food was great as usual but the service was poor. We usually get great service but I am not sure if they were too busy but that should not have affected it. I think I am more disappointed as it was our anniversary and always go there for this special occasion."

"While the waitstaff was very exceptional I found the food very lacking for a $250 meal. I'm not trying to drag the place down, but the best part of my meal was the asparagus. I had the 22 oz. Bone in Sirloin a.k.a. The Tomahawk and I walked out unimpressed. Actually I was upset with myself for paying 50$ for that steak that I didn't even finish eating. My girlfriends dinner was much better and we shared it. I also tried the Vespa Martini and found out I am not a martini guy in the least. I didn't take but about 6 sips and had them take it away. It tasted rougher than moonshine. I can say I have no plans of going back for the food. Maybe someday for different drinks, but to me Eddie V's first impression food-wise was not good at all."

"I have dined at several EddieV's locations and been very happy. I had a client meet me at the Arboretum location and was almost embarrassed. It doesn't even look like it is owned by the same company as Dallas and Houston. The oyster bar looked like it was falling apart, there were stacks of chairs leading to the mens room, the whole restaurant generally looked sad and dated. However, The service and food were EXCEPTIONAL (although we tried to order a bottle off the wine list that they no longer carried). The bar table we sat at had a great view, and my guest really enjoyed his meal. I would go back for the food, but would not take another client to that location whom I was intending to impress."

"The Hot appetizer was fantastic. One of the best apps I have ever had. Too bad since it wasn't on the menu, because we were charged for all three items seperately -- costing more than the app advertised on the internet.
The special of a filet and shrimp was ok but not worth almost $50. A tiny filet with 2 small shrimp. Pass.
The biggest problem was the pace of the meal. We had an app, soup, and entree with a wait time of about 30-45 minutes between courses. A bit excessive in my opinion.
I look forward to going again, but may stick to the bar area, eating appetizers."

"Every time we good to Eddie V's for special occasions and they never disappoint us. First off the food is just AMAZING!! There are other places we have gone to in this price range but Eddie V's food beats them hands down. We get there early to sit at the bar for drinks and apps and the bar staff is great they most by name and will treat you great any drink on the menu is great but they will make you anything you want and if you are not sure they will surprise you and I have not had anything I didn't like."

"It was a dinner for two. The tables seem a bit closer to each other. The service was fantastic. I am not sure that I care for the background music that they had. I enjoyed the filet mignon that I had. I especially like the fried rice. It is very different from any rice dishes that I ever tried and I am regular rice eater."

"I always enjoy looking at the extended wine list, but usually pick the Stags Leap Artemis. We took out time sipping the Artemis and munching on a perfectly chilled shrimp cocktail made with shrimp the size of chicken legs and sauces with fresh horseradish we mixed to our prefered strength. We also enjoyed the sashimi. My wife described it as "butter" because its so good it seems to melt in your mouth.
The ladies ordered small filets, which they said were delicious and I had the bone-in filet. I think it is the best cut of meat in town.
As usual, the service was impeccable and the manager, Roger Hernandez, always makes everyone feel special."

"Once again, an exceptional dinner. We prefer the Arboretum's gorgeous view and somewhat calmer setting, compared to the bustling 5th street location where valet parking is just about the only option. Our server was inattentive; our first experience for this in either location and we think, an anomaly. Even so, we enjoyed ourselves immensely and this is still one of our favourite restaurants in Austin. Highly recommended. Start with their wonderful happy hour."

"We started at the bar for happy hour and the bartender was very friendly. We had reservations at 7:30 pm and were waiting for 15 minutes when the hostess apologized. About 5 minutes later the manager came over and offered us drinks on the house and once our table was ready provided 3 appetizers on the house as well. We ordered steaks and they were excellant. Overall the food and service were fantastic, I would highly recommend."

"It started with the salad which had chewy tomatoes, not ripe, not sweet, chewy unripe things that should not have been on a plate coming out of that kitchen. Bone in filet and New York steaks were nice, too salty though as I was drinking water all night.

"Every time I come here I get nothing but perfection. The food is amazing, to say the least. I always order the same thing and don't regret it!! I start with the lobster bisque (to die for), fried oysters, sea bass hong kong style, and the mac/cheese side to share! When I am able to eat dessert.. I go for the cobbler or the chocolate molten...
The have a great selection of red wine (particularly the pinot noirs) and inovative cocktails. Service is always excellent and view is amazing.
All of this only applies to the arboretum location.. I can't say that many good things about the downtown location (not nearly to par as this one)."

"Everything about this experience was phenomenal. This place knows how to balance excellent service with outstanding food. My family of 4 went here for the first time a week ago, and we all really enjoyed the experience. The waiter gave me two suggestions for wine, brought me the one that I chose, as well as a generous tasting of the other variety. We were also torn between two desserts, and the waiter brought us both. One of which was his treat!
I would certainly return to experience this food and service once again, in no way expecting the complimentary upgrades, and I am positive that we would still have an amazing experience once again!"

"It's always a pleasure to go to Eddie V's. My fiance and I went to the Arboretum location for the first time. We really enjoyed it. It is a great location and a little quieter than the downtown location. But if you are interested in hear live music while you eat then the downtown location has that. The Arboretum location does not. The staff is extremely friendly and polite at both locations. They have a nice selection of seafood and it has always impressed me. Won't hesitate to go back."

"We randomly decided on cocktails and appetizers for dinner. The carpaccio was superb - fantastic flavors so good we scarfed one down and ordered another.
The seafood tower was very very good, the shrimp and crab were perfect, and the oysters were fantastic. The lobster was a bit flavorless, but the meunière sauce went very well with it.
Overall, it was a great dinner."
