"Every time I've come to Eddie V's, I've always had a great experience. The service is so great that I just feel comfortable dining there. There have been two separate dining instances (one in Houston and one in Austin) where I have asked the server to provide a scallop appetizer dish and both chefs has always accommodated by creating a delicious scallop appetizer for me. Eddie V's truly values customer satisfaction and it shows through the food and service. I ordered the filet mignon as my entree and ordered side dishes for my party--the crab fried rice is too die for. Eddie V's has the best filet mignon. I ordered medium rare, and although it came out a little on the rare side this one time, it was still delicious. Highly recommended!"

"We came here for our anniversary. They put rose petals on our table and had a special note. The manager came by and showed personal attention. The food was amazing and our plate had happy anniversary written on it. Everyone was attentive and I did I mention the food was amazing! I would definitely come back even when not our anniversary. Our waiter offered to take our picture which was sweet. My husband said the steak was one of the best he's ever had."

"My wife and I love seafood, but seldom get to eat any. We had heard good things about Eddie V's and decided to try it for our anniversary. We expected the food would be fabulous (it was) but what really surprised me was the customer service. From the moment we arrived, the staff was extremely friendly and eager to please. Our table was ready within 5 minutes of our reservation and we received a table with covered with rose petal and a signed card from the staff. In addition, Eddie V's provided us with a complimentary dessert.
The wait staff kept our glasses full and were on top of everything. In general the service was great.
The food was also awesoeme. Fresh and flavorful. We had the scallops and halibut. Amazing, Top notch."

"We four enoyed our dinner. The service was mostly very good. Dessert (creem brulee) was slow, and it was served cold with four warm plates. Not sure why! It was very noisy, not the ideal place for a romantic dinner. Overall, it was good, but not really excellent, which is what we'd expect for this expensive restaurant!"

"Mother's Day with 73 yr old mom. It was freezing, and they were evidently used to it, since they handed out shawls! We had requested quiet corner in reserve (first seating, BTW), but were seated next to a hug group of grads.Inexperienced waiter. The food was just okay but fish was generally under seasoned. Brussels sprouts were the most flavorless we have had in Austin. Nothing was really special, but the prices certainly were. Dinner for four, with two of us having appetizers for dinner, only one alcoholic drink and one dessert for the table was over $200. The dessert was particularly disappointing with runny panne cotta, only partially redeemed by a good caramel sauce. We won't be back. There are too many great options downtown."

"Totally worth the once or twice a year dinner out --- the bar does have a great happy hour menu and drink specials!! We will make it in to Eddie V's more often. Our evening was an event started with cocktails in the bar with snacks. Once we got to our table, had the "special appetizer" and ordered our dinners --- bother were seafood and it was prepared percetly. Not over cooked and seasoned perfectly!! The dessert was AMAZING!! It was a salty sweet custard like treat!! Oh, I can't wait to go back for another!! Thank you Eddie V's on Fifth Street for making our special night out --- REALLY SPECIAL!!"

"This was our first time at Eddie V's.The menu was large with lots of interesting choices. We live on the East Coast so we were anxious to check out the seafood. Our waiter was friendly in a professional waiter kind of way . The fried oysters were the best that I have ever tasted and I have eaten many. My friend said that the mushroom salad was just okay. I am sorry to say that the fish dishes that we ordered were more or less "fried fish" entrees and could have been seasoned and sauced more creatively. Our special pre-ordered chocolate cake was fabulous and a surprise gift from the restaurant when we quietly mentioned that we were celebrating an occasion. We wanted to love Eddie and we kind of do. We just think it could be so much better."

"We made reservations for my birthday and got to the restaurant early to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and introduced himself. He had a great balance for being friendly but not interfering with your conversation. Afterwards we were seated at a tiny little table in the corner. I could have rubbed knees with the woman sitting at the table next to us. I know they were trying to seat as many customers as possible at one time, but it was a little uncomfortable trying to get in and out of the table without bumping the table next to me.
Our waiter was very friendly and hospitable. The food and wine was great. I would definitely go back for a special occasion."

"I found the food quality at Eddie V's to be outstanding. We as a table had the Maryland Crab Cakes (the best crab cakes I believe I've had outside of Maryland), Potstickers, Calamari, several steaks, and Ahi Tuna. All was excellent, and with the exception of a few items on the menu I found the pricing to be under control. An exceptional choice for business dinners and special occassions."

"Would definitely recommend the steaks. We were with a group of 8, and everyone enjoyed their entree. The swordfish and scallops were also good. Au Gratin potatoes were the best of the side dishes we ordered - also had macaroni, spinach, & asparagus. Would HIGHLY recommend the hot chocolate Godiva cake with Amy's ice cream. That was by far the best thing we had. The service was a little too slow for our liking. Our orders were all correct, but it took ENTIRELY too long for the bar service, and for extras that we requested, such as extra dressing, more bread, etc. At a nice restaurant, you expect it to take a while for food, and you want to have a leisurely experience, but there is no excuse for waiting 30 minutes for a glass of wine."

The crab and corn soup was perfect and the Caesar Salad used the leafy ends of the romaine. My wife ordered the sea bass and I had the fillet with shrimp in a cajun butter special. Both meals were fantastic as well as the twice stuffed potatoes and beets.
We have eaten here several times and always have come away with fond memories of our time together along with great service and food."

"The menu has been changed somewhat since our last visit. The wedge salad was mostly lettuce and little dressing and a skinny piece of bacon, I would not recommend it.
My wife had the Sea Bass which was very well prepared.I had the Shrimp entree which had a vinegar/sour after taste and the shrimp was over cooked with a rubbery feel to it.
The asparagus was thin and limp compared to the thick asparagus they once offered.
As far as the Bananas Foster that too was changed up. I liked it, my wife did not-too bready with no taste of rum or bourbon.
It has been over a year since our last visit and I am starting to think this place is more of an Austin/Tourist trap."

"The food was incredible. I had the Chilean Sea Bass but with the garlic and chive reduction instead of the Asian style that is on the menu. The corn chowder was wonderful and the truffle Mac & cheese was heavenly! The only thing better than the food was the exceptional service. Our waiter was knowledgable, friendly and very attentive without being overbearing. Now my favorite place in Austin!"

"I would not go again with just 2 people. The table was so small we had trouble finding places for our wine glasses. It was so close to the next table we were practically part of their conversation and getting in and out you had the choice of hovering over your neighbors or putting your rear end in their faces."

"We had an excellent time at Eddie Vs. It was three couples and we were treated very well. Jason was our waiter and he was just splendid! Very attentive and wanted us to have a great time and we sure did. He explaind the menu and appetizer selections superbly and was ovverall fun. The atmosphere was great, the soft jazz music by the talented musicians topped it off! Will definitely will be going again!"

"Returned to Austin for a visit and planned the entire trip around dinner at Eddie V's. Sat in the bar and had an amazing dinner. Our Waiter was Jose M. He was awesome and provided the right amount of service and small talk. The swordfish, Scallops and crab fried rice were incredible but the cookie cake dessert was the best. This place never disappoints!"

"The overall experience was great. The service was amazing and everyone was out of their way helpful. We both had steaks and I wish we had tried more seafood. The steak were good but not the best we have had and the sides (brussel sprouts and mac and cheese) were not as great as expected. The calamari was amazing and our soup and salads were great too. Again, service really made the meal."

"Our table (for four) was seated so close to the next table that dining was physicaly uncomforable. The waiter tripped once and stepped on my foot once. I don't know if they've moved the tables closer together to accommodate more diners, but this was not a pleasant experience. The food and service were excellent as always."

"Just got back from a hot weekend in the great city of Austin, TX. We came early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar and had drinks and a cocktail. Three hours later, still at the bar we finished up with the bananas foster. The guy's at the bar were fantastic. The food was outstanding! This is a must on your reservation list."

My wife tried salmon (though not a seafood friend) and did not get converted to a seafood friend. I ate the leftovers.....and a bit over done I would say.

Chocolate desert was dry and flat tasting.
In short, not a meal worth it's cost."
