Perry St has reopened! Chef Jean-Georges brings relaxed elegance to the West Village with Perry St, which opened in 2005 and has been awarded three stars by the New York Times. Located in the spectacular Richard Meier Towers, the restaurant offers beautiful waterfront views of the Hudson River. The stunning dining room was designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, whose Danish background lends a mid-century modern design sensibility. Jean-Georges’ son, Cedric Vongerichten, helms the kitchen, creating dishes that reflect his own keen instinct for balancing flavor and texture with an exquisite blend of French, American, and Asian influences and ingredients. The menu is inspired by the season, centering on the local market at Union Square.
"While the ingredients to all courses of my prix-fixe-lunch were excellent, and each part well prepared, the pairing and combination unfortunately did not work at all: moules in a green coconut curry sauce paired with french fries with ketchup ...."

"Had one of my best meals ever at Perry St. The Fried Chicken was perfect and the Chocolate pudding dessert was incredible. With drinks, Appetizers and wine it can get a little spendy but more than worth it."

"The restaurant had very good food and service when finally seated. However, the restaurant had severe problems with their table reservations. We had to wait for nearly one hour in spite of confirmed table reservation at a specific time. The bar was full of waiting customers hanging around - which is not how to treat valuable customers."

"Perry Street suffered from the storm but it is back without missing a beat. The menu appears the same and the quality and freshness of the ingredients is supreme. Service could use a refresher course on knowledge and explanation of the entrees."

Dommage :-/"

"Perry Street was an amazing experience! The food was all amazing. Everyone at our party ordered something different with a sampling of cocktails, appetizers, meals and desserts and each dish had excellent flavor, great portion sizes and presentations and was overall, incredible. It was one of the best dining experiences I've had and I would strongly recommend trying it out when in New York! The service was also excellent."

"Have been to Perry Street many many times and it has been always wonderful. Also been to Spice Market, Jean George and ABC Kitchen and Vong and the steak house at Bellagio in Las Vegas. I am a great admirer of Mr V, as is my family. It is impossible to have a mediocre meal at any of his restaurants -- everything and always is great and memorable."

"The food was excellent and good, but they were all served very fast. I like to enjoy my dinner, not eat everything fast. The service were great and waiters friendly. Wine also good. The aircondition made the restaurant a bit cold, so bring something to wear over your shoulders."

"Calamari so light I always expect them to float into the ceiling the froth accompanying defines the word ephemeral The signature fried chicken is sooo good I once got another portion as dessert. This time they whipped up a 5 item veg plate for my bride....we could not pick a best in show. The option of a glass or a larger glass is brilliant. This place is serious but fun a tough combo. The love and care of the father son comes through. To me the $28 lunch deal is the best money I spend. Enough I am a fan GO"

"The venue is pleasant and elegant. The staff very friendly and helpful. The food has every possibility to be excellent, but by adding an overdose of lemon (or other citrus fruits - eg Yuzu) to many dishes, the fine nuance of real good food is flattened out. Quite a pity."

"the restaurant is very bright and minimalist and quiet. good for a work lunch . the food was ok - being in the west village , one has higher expectations.i had the $28 lunch special which was a good deal with a choice of appetizer, main course and dessert. i had the chicken main course with wild rice and an orange sauce which went well with the food. Everyone enjoyed their meal but it wasn't something you would say "wow" to. the main course portions were small but you feel content after the 3 courses . i got the sorbet dessert which was ok. i would go again for a work lunch meeting but not for a night out , its too quiet and dull for me in terms of ambience. good for neighbourhood drop in - not something i would go out of the way for."

"the food was good, but not amazing. there were lots of staff around but the service was awkward. Several did not serve well. perhaps they were in training.
The desserts were especially disappointing They could use a new pastry chef."

"I made a reservation one day anticipated, but I missed it and when I arrived the host Beki tried to find a table for me. She was very attentive and gave me a table for 1 1/2 hr. I loved the food, decor and view, food, but I felt rush, because I wanted to spend more time and take some drinks. Unfortunately the waiter brought me the bill without I request it and I had to leave. However, I hope next time I could go back on a week day to spend more time without some else waiting for my table."

"Beautiful space. Friendly and competent service. Interesting menu. For appetizers we had the tuna and the dumplings. Both were delicious. For mains, the lobster was superb, the bass was very good, but the lamb chops were a little tough. Good wine selection including a number by the glass. Overall a very nice experience."

"Everything was just terrific. Great decor and table layout. Tables are not jammed together. As good as the physical part of the restaurant is, the star is the food. Everything was just prepared perfectly. WE've been to most of JG's restaurants and this one may be the best."

"Our night at Perry Street surpassed my wildest expectations. The service was impecable, the food was glorious, we felt pampered and were not rushed at all even though we were the last ones in the restaurant on a sunday night. It was a very special occassion for us, a celebration of sorts, and the staff, chef, everything made it that much more special. Thank you all so much."

"We found our experience at Perry Street very enjoyable and were seating immediatlely upon are entering the restaurant and food and service were quite good. On other occasions have had to wait quite a while for a table even though reservations had been made almost a week ahead. Would definitely return to this spot for lunch, brunch or dinner."

"I had a great experience at Perry St. The red snapper ceviche appetizer was great. The rice cracker crusted tuna had a great, mildly flavored crust that added texture and didn't take away from the tuna. An the sriracha/mayo sauce added a great hint of spice. For our entrees, we had the fried chicken and the lamb chops. Fried chicken was boneless and excellent, with a sauce on the side that compared to an outstanding buffalo sauce. I couldn't get enough of it. The lamb was very high quality meat, and came with a crispy artichoke that I wish I could make at home.
It's a very cool scene - not overly crowded or noisy. Great place for a date. Would easily recommend to a friend."

"When we got here there wern't that many people (Monday night) but we sat down and they took our jackets and it all started well. One waiter came around and wanted to serve bread and started plating it on our plates and then stopped after two and took them off again without saying anything. We didn't know what was happening if he had made a mistake or something? He was just a little bit lost. Numerous errors were made by the waiters however the food in itself was amazing. Very delicate fine food and amazing presentation it is just a shame it is let down by the waiters! They seem to rush around doing nothing and are very awkward. It is almost made it funny how awkward they all were!"

"We had to wait for half an hour to be seated despite our reservation. Tables were much too close for this category of restaurant. Noise level at dinner was uncomfortable. Paper place mats were inappropriate for this category of restaurant. Wines were overpriced. Food and service were good. In general, overrated."
