"Our company (6 people) decided to go out to Clark Lewis for one of our birthday celebrations. The food was amazing, but it took almost an hour for it to arrive, and the server didn't check in with us at all after she brought our salads and soups. She had a large party behind us, and I know she was really busy, but it was a bit frustrating because we were there on a company lunch that took almost 2 hours. I would definitely go back because the food was amazing, we all cleaned our plates, but I wouldn't go back for lunch if I was on a schedule."

"Was seated in noisy Bar Area despite being early. Selections are limited, portions are small and service is slow. The parking spaces all have signs stating they are reserved for other business. We parked blocks away and was told we could park in the lot past 5:30, it would be nice if the signs stated this."

"We had our family visiting from Austin Texas and wanted to share a special Portland spot with them. Clarklewis fit the description perfectly.
The staff was great, helping pair our meals and wines, very attentive.
Expect to spend for all the luxury, before the alcohol, it'll run $30-$50 per plate."

"Clarklewis has some of the best food in Portland. While it isn't cheap by any means, it was reasonably priced considering the food and service. I went with two of my sisters and we each ordered the tasting menu at $55 each.ou By doing so, we each got to taste many different menu items. Each dish had a unique flavor and was plated beautifully. Our agreed upon favorites were morrells in veal sauce, the lamb paparadelle, and the amazing purple carrot soup. I liked the chicken with grits a lot. My sisters loved the halibut. ALL of the desserts were to die for. The wine list was very good and not over priced. All in all, it was a delightful experience."

"Great food and service. I love the large, open kitchen and beautiful bar on the opposite end of the restaurant. I really enjoyed the braised lamb pasta and burrata appetizer. However, my daughter ordered fettuccine with porcini mushrooms and truffle oil sauce. I had a couples bites and I've been dreaming about that truffle sauce it was soooo good. We will definitely go back"

"I was really disappointed leaving the restaurant. First of all, we needed to ore order since my clients were on a tight schedule. On the phone we were told that the menu has changed and the food we wanted was not available. When we got there and sat down the drinks came slow and we had to ask for refills. To top it off, the food was late coming out and one of my clients ended up boxing up her food and leaving right away. We were planning on doing desser but we just didn't have time.
I have to say- the Reuben was fantastic... But the service ruined it for me."

"My wife and I had a great anniversary dinner at clarklewis. We went with the tasting menu since everything looked fantastic. We were not disappointed. Our waitress was courteous and knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic wine recommendation. The servers who brought out the food were a bit less knowledgeable about the individual servings they were providing which prompted us to ask for a menu to read through the descriptions again. The vibe was lively as the restaurant was full with a large group sitting near us. We also had a young couple with children on the other side. We understood their struggles. Overall a great experience"

"We always enjoy our dining experiences at ClarkLewis. The atmosphere, service and food are wonderful. However, this last time, my entree was not up to the quality standards of previous experiences. I ordered the pork collar and it was very tough.....a bit overcooked, I think. It was disappointing. The appetizers, salad and the other entrees were very good and the rice pudding and cookies were outstanding. We will return."

"We went out of our box a little before heading to the Schnitz for a comedy show. A very elegant farm to table restaurant, using local and home grown ingredients. Wine was good and the servers were very timely and knowledgeable (they had to be because I didn't know what 1/3 of their listed ingredients were). Appetizers and dinner were very small portions, but presented well. The flavors were wonderful and we cleaned all our plates, but just kept wondering where the "rest" was ... we did not allow enough time for dessert, but if I remember right, it wasn't that great of a dessert menu either."

"Clark Lewis was great. The service was excellent; the staff was friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and on top of it. I also really liked the ambiance of this restaurant; the wood, lighting and openness made it feel really warm and inviting. I was expecting it to feel stuffy and uppity but it wasn't. The portions were larger than I expected which was perfect for sharing. Everything was flavorful and interesting. I would like to go back in the summer when the garage doors are raised up so we can enjoy the summer evenings."

"The food was obviously pre-cooked, as our entrees came out in literally 5 minutes after we ordered. I did not even get to finish my slide of bread. As a result, it put a strain on what ws intended to be a leisurely meal. Service was very good however. Nothing special in my opinion. "Mixed bag at clarklewis; in service, quality of dishes and quantity of food. For quality, my wife's carrot soup had good depth of flavor and my leg of lamb with carrots also was good. On the other hand, my pasta first course (pasta with rabbit meatballs) was dry and bland and the dessert was about the same in quality as I would expect from a diner. Quantity: big pasta portion for my appetizer but my wife's entree of scallops consisted of 3 smallish scallops. There were other things on the plate but really?! Service: It was slow, but kudos for trying to make up for it by comping the not so great dessert and a glass of wine. And the noise level was very high. I'm sure it's better in the Summer when they can open those garage doors."

"Too slow...2.5 hours with a reservation on Saturday night. Love to see the place busy but don't over book if you can't get the food out. One hour wait between salads and entrees. No apology from waiter or even a "sorry we are really running behind", etc. Also, they buried us in the far back corner, in the bar, against a wall with no connection to the restaurant. I can't imagine where they put people without a reservation? We will save our $200 bucks for a place that cares next time. First time I have ever taken the time to write a poor review. Love the place but disappointed."

"Predictable fair from Bruce Carey. Food is good, service is good, ambiance is the best in the summer! The major problem they have is they can't seem to control their wood cook top and by the end of the evening you're slowly suffocating on gases and for sure smell like you've been standing over a campfire the whole night, YUKE! Not going back until summer when I know all the gases have a place to go and I don't have to take a shower when I get home."

"The new chef is making his mark in a delightful way. New dishes with excellent presentation and flavors. The Dungeness crab Fazziola (sp) was outstanding! Waitstaff makes us feel at home, knowledgeable, friendly, experienced."

"We were celebrating our 25th Anniversary. We asked the staff to choose the menu and wine pairins.. They made much of us and the evening was amazing. Definitely one of our top ten meals, ever! I heartily recommend ClarkLewis and, especially, the chef's tasting menu."

"Chose Clark Lewis to celebrate a special occasion and had a wonderful experience. The leg of lamb was fabulous, perfectly prepared and presented beautifully. The sea scallops were mouth watering too. Started off with a cheese plate that had three varitals of cheese...the mild blue cheese was incredible...very generous portions too. Although we brought our own wine we opted to procure a Pinot Noir to better compliment our entrees...we enjoyed our bottle for dessert. What really complimented this dinner was the attentive service provided by Karen (and other staff)...she was very knowledgeable about the entrees being prepared, had a good understanding of the wine list, and never once neglected our tabe the entire 3 hours we were at CL."

"This place never fails to impress! The most recent time especially impressed - during our meal, they brought in the pork - there is no doubt that they use the freshest local ingredients! I often bring clients there for lunch. A great spot for sure."

"Excellent experience, we found the service outstanding. It may have been because we ate early, around 5:30 but the staff was very helpful and informative. I asked for a recommendation for an Oregon vodka and they suggested "Aria", a gin distilled in Portland. They then showed me the bottle and told me where in Portland I could find it. Through the course of our meal we were visited by several staff members and the bar tender regarding our meal. All very friendly and informative. Kudos to our waitress for her wine suggestion and who complemented us for being nice patrons, you don't hear that very often. This all just topped off a wonderful tasting meal and a memorable experience.

"This was our first time eating here on Valentines Day. The menu was prix fixe. with wine paring which we did not order. Overall, the food courses were ok, but I was expecting more considering it was supposed to be a special menu for the occasion. I can see some of the other reviews regarding the wood fire smoke in the place...after a while, it will bother your eyes after sitting there for a while...be prepared to smell like a campfire after leaving here. Considering it was Valentines Day, every table except for our's was covered with rose pedals...no one else who worked there seemed to notice. Not bad...but not great either considering the cost."

"Clarklewis seems to be just getting better over the years. Just had one of our better dinners in Portland (both were fish) and were impressed with the quality of the ingredients and subtle flavors. Not too heavily sauced or salted which is often the case. Our only complaint is that the portions were TINY (more like appetizer size) so if you're a petite eater or into multiple courses, this place is for you."
