"I went specifically for the salad bar since a referred recommended it. I'm not much of a meat person (but there was a huge variety of that and I was tempted). The salad bar had tons of good stuff, chicken salad, pasta salads, fresh parmasean cheese (so delish) and some hot dishes (red potatoes, black beans, rice). It was all very good and the set up is beautiful too."

"As always all you can eat is a tasty treat but since this is mostly meat its always in style. With the convenient flip up cards you almost feel like your part of an eating game show but with the fancy table clothes and napkins you feel a sense of style all the while. Since the price is all inclusive it makes a great place to go with large groups since you can pretty much evenly divvy up the bill before entering but its also very romantic to just go on a date for your birthday like we did. One side note they use a paper book to check in reservations and therefore they did not enter it into the opentable website and I am hoping opentable will be able to update my account."

"We went on Mother's Day and the wait was very long, even with reservations. The salad bar was good and fresh. The meats were OK. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from a box. The service was outstanding. Good for groups and those who enjoy eating LOTS of food, particularly meats."

"The first Fogo I ever went to was in Minneapolis. Chicago's is entirely different. Basically, the Chicago Fogo makes you feel pretty claustrophobic (the tables are VERY close to each other/sardine style), it gets very loud, so if you are on a date, I recommend trying somewhere else unless you plan on screaming at each other the whole night :)
Food-wise, meat selection is excellent. Salad bar is weak (very small, gets very crowded). If you are truly going to enjoy a Brazillian Steakhouse, I recommend going to Texas de Brazil. They have a wider choice of salad bar options, they INCLUDE various soups, their meat is MUCH more flavorful and there is much more space to relax and enjoy yourself. Save your cash & sanity, go to Texas de Brazil."

"My girlfriend enjoys her steak at a well done temperature. At places like Texas de Brazil, a simple request to a waiter and she would get well done steaks for the remainder of the night. However, at Fogo de Chao, we both requested this to MANY different staff members including our waiter and she only received 3-4 pieces of steak throughout a 2.5 hour dinner. When you're paying $75/person, that's just not acceptable!
Good thing for Fogo our party was large so we had to pay 18% gratuity. If it was just us two, you probably would've gotten nothing for this lack of attention and terrible service.
For being so highly regarded, I'm very disappointed and will take my business elsewhere."

"This was my first visit to Fogo de Chao and I truly loved it. The salad bar was awesome with its great variety of delectables. I had to pace myself since I also wanted to enjoy some meat entrees. What an abundance of delicious, perfectly seasoned meats that were presented by the roaming "Gaucho" servers. The wait staff was very professional and yet individually charming. Will certainly return very soon to enjoy some of the other specialties that I missed. (one can only eat so much in one setting !! )"

"Our kids love going to Brazilian Steakhouses and know Fogo de Chau in a different city. We had an early seating, 5:30. I think that this is probably too early to eat at this restaurant, as they do not offer the full variety of meats and the meats are not as well seasoned as we have experienced during more busy service times. That is my reason for the good rating vs. very good. Overall, the service is very good. The salad bar is great and the table sides are delicious, also. The chef came out to speak to me about our son's food allergies and made sides that he could eat, which we appreciate very much. Not many places will send someone from the kitchen to the table."

"Prices here never make for cheap outing, but then there was entertainment: a way-overloaded busboy dropped a slew of plates along with a full tray of ice water--carried on high--onto the floor about 10 feet from our table. Glass and ice water everywhere!
On the plus side, the staff cleaned up amazingly quickly and the manager stopped by the table to be sure we were all right."

"Fogo de Chao is always an incredible experience. After taking my best friend here last spring break at their Kansas City branch, I always try to make it a treat for my friends for celebration. They love it almost as much as I do! The service starts slow (we get there pretty early), but by the time it hits 6:30-7pm, the world dining room dances with energy and food magic. I will always come here when I want to surprise my friends and spend time with my family."

"I took family here for lunch while they were in town. The food is very good, some of the meat cuts can be a little fatty, but overall you should be able to find something you like. "I threw a small surprise birthday dinner for my husband on a Saturday night (there were 11 of us). I called in advance to explain that him and I wouldnt be there until later but to seat our party in advance. The reservation girl was rude and wouldnt even offer an accommodation even given the event. I found out the server didnt once come to the table until we arried.
We are big fans of a good Brazilian Steak House but I thought this was just okay. Maybe the meat wasnt as great since it was super busy (totally packed house) but we both thought the food had zero flavor and I thought it was overcooked.
I wouldnt say we would ever return. There are way better Brazialian Steak Houses in Chicago"

"The food was as to be expected, a wonderful salad bar full of fresh meats, veggies, fish etc. the wait staff was attentive and at times hovered a little too much. I had the house Malbec which was good, notes of plum, coffee, and pepper but over-priced and meagerly poured..
We were sat in the back room which is the party room and as they were not that busy I am not sure why, and the table we were say was tucked tight between two other tables and jammed next to a support or utility pole which made it more cramped and uncomfortable.
The noise level and the acositics in this room made it difficult to hold a conversation unless you are partial to shouting.

"I want to alert people to what I consider to be a questionable business practice at this restaurant. Yes, it was our fault for being naive, but I am still angry at the outcome and would not return to this restauant. At the end of the meal, the waiter comes by with a large cart of bottles of after dinner drinks. They don't give you a list but instead he describes the various items available. We ordered cognac and then were stunned to find out when we got our bill that each small glass of cognac was $38. We wouldn't have ordered this had we known the price. It was foolish of us not to ask the prices but I still think they should pass out a price list."

"A good all around place, although, I think the prices are a little high for what they bring to the table. At any rate, still very good. Only down side is that as soon as you sit down, the gauchos just overwhelm you with meat. Perhaps the gauchos should pace themselves here a bit. Even though the green side is up, give a couple of minutes betweens servings!"
