"Overall, the food (we all had the creole filet) was great... but it was not served hot... it was plenty warm, but not hot. The salads were all amazing thought! And again the shrimp was great too, but not hot. Service was excellent, the location was great & the menu was varied. I'd give this all 5 stars all around if all (or if the majority of our food) was served at the right temperature."

"All though very well known and popular this is NOT one of those tourist restaurants where everything is deep fried. Quite the opposite. Had perfectly prepared local pan seared fish with scruptious sauce. Second time at Palace Cafe and we will be back."

"Always try to eat here on a visit toNOLA and took my son here for dinner. He is a beef connesuer and was not disappointed. The trout served over crawfish ettuffe was outstanding. We also loved the strawberry ice cream sandwich for dessert, but would have liked more fresh berries with it. My only complaint was our server did not inform us that Grand Marnier 100 was $40 apiece!"

"We had brunch at the Palace Cafe this past Sunday for Mothers Day. This was not our first time dining here, but it had been a while. We could not have asked for better service or better food. We have never had a sub-par dining experience at any Brennan's restaurant that we have dined in, and our experience at Palace Cafe on Sunday was up to the standards that one would expect from a restaurant from the Brennan family. I had the pepper crusted seared duck breast with the foie gras and mashed parsnips with a citrus frisee salad. Our waiter Robert said it was the best dish on the menu, and I have to say it was! We will be back."

"This was our third time to Palace Cafe and they did not disappoint. We made our reservation and our table was accidentally given to someone else-the manager Levi stepped in and gave us an even better table and checked on us a few times during the meal. The barbecued shrimp was the best we had on our trip and pecan pie dessert was delicious. I would definitely recommend."

"We went with a friend who was in town for a conference. The service was slow, but the waiter was nice enough. I remember the food being much better than it was this time around. I have not been there in a few years, but I used to love the food there. My wife had the bananas foster and she said it was good but had better. I had the bread pudding and it came out warm but not hot. I am hoping that it was an off night because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants."

"I was unsure when I would be free for dinner, so I used Open Table, I was booking for one person. The Palace menu looked interesting, but the only time available was 5pm. I made a reservation, and when I arrived the restaurant was empty, with a limited menu. I ordered an appetizer, and asked the waiter about other menu items & he said that was the dinner menu & not available until 5:30pm. I asked if I could order off the dinner menu at 5:30pm. He checked with someone, and said ok. So at 5:30, I ordered the crawfish macaroni and cheese, and it was delicious. I left at 6:15pm, there was NO ONE in the restaurant. If later reservations were available on Open Table, I wouldn't have had such an awkward experience."

"The crabmeat cheesecake was fantastic and so was the soup- I don't remember the name but it had smoked chicken and jalapeños in it. A friend and I shared the filet, asked for medium and it came more med rare so we both had to send it back. My husband got the ribeye and 3/4 of it was fat and medium rare, the shrimp were also lukewarm. Another friend got the fish and that came out hot and was delicious! However, the service was great and the presentation was really good! They also comped us desserts to make up for the food issues. Great customer service!"

"Simply put, the Palace Cafe has some really great N'awlins cooking. I enjoyed the crab claw appetizer and the mussels with alligator sausage served with pommes frites. Wow it was delicious. One of my companions had the Pecan Catfish and the other had filet mignon. All was delicious. The servers were very attentive and courteous. This place is a must go!"

"I've been coming here during Jazzfest for 10 years now. It has always been a great dinner experience and this year was no different. Exceptional service; water glasses filled without asking-just very, very attentive service. Food was Great! I had the soup du jour (a zesty cream of something)and the Andouille Crusted RedFish which was excellent! Tasty deserts...I can't say enough about this place. I had requested a 2nd floor window table (on-line) and was pleasantly surprised when we were seat-2nd floor window! Again, the wait staff is superb!"

"We were in New Orleans for the weekend and my husband and I wanted to eat somewhere with great food and ambiance. The only catch was that we had our two young daughters with us. The concierge recommended Palace Cafe and I was hesitant to take the kids there since I knew it was owned by the Brenans family and thought it may not be kid friendly. Delightfully surprised. They were super welcoming to the kids and the food was outstanding. The Crawfish Mac and Cheese was awesome! My husband had the Catfish Pecan which he loved. My hubby's family is from New Orelans so he is picky about gumbo and he gave it two thumbs up. Of course we did the Bananas Foster tableside and our waiter even let our girls help. What a fabulous dining experience!"

"I like to change up where I dine whenever I am in a food city like New Orleans. But, the fact is, that no trip would be complete without a stop at the Palace Cafe. The service is impeccable, the food is perfectly portioned and seasoned, and the prices are remarkably reasonable. I would heartily recommend the Palace Cafe to any and all. Try their Woodford cocktail with ginger syrup. It is a wonderful drink."

"We were traveling to New Orleans for the Jazz Fest and made reservations sight unseen except for the reviews on Open Table. We were very pleased. Food was good, not outstanding; service was good. Our table was waiting for us when we got there and everyone was polite and very accommodating. We enjoyed our evening very much. We came with two other couples and we were here in New Orleans with a travel club consisting of 50 people and we did recommend the Palace Café to others in our group. We would definitely go back again."

"I had an absolutely wonderful experience with my wife 2 weeks ago. So good, I took 3 business associates there 4/23 at 6:00. Waiter "David" clearly didn't have enough experience to handle the lead waiter job. Did not check back with us very often, brought 2 of us a rosemary oyster appetizer rather than the oyster loaf appetizer we ordered, and did not offer to make any adjustment of any type in food or the charges. I watched our entrees sit on a tray for just over 4 minutes before anyone coordinated getting them off the tray and to the table. These incidences set the tone for a rather disappointing experience for the evening."

"My wife and I went to celebrate her birthday. We had been last year for our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food, servers, and ambiance are fantastic. But, that GREAT Jazz Band is what makes our visits worth returning. I requested that the Trio play at our table. They played Basin Street Blues with rhythm and a toe-tapping beat that is exuberating and let's you know you're in New Orleans. Karen and I both enjoy the personal touch and smiles worn by the band. It's as if they are singing just for you and that great feeling is indescribable and makes the whole dining experience worthwhile!
You are treated like royalty by everyone on the staff.
The Palace Cafe is one of our favorite places. We will definitely be back!"

"The whole experience was wonderful. The ribeye was obviously a quality cut and was cooked as ordered. The andouille encrusted Drum/Sheephead was perfect as well. We tried the sweet potato soup and it was outstanding as well. I will be back.

"Overall experience was excellent. We made out reservation online for our anniversary dinner and when we arrived they seated us right away. The wait staff was out of this world. As soon as we say down we had a waitress pleasantly serve out drinks and let us know that her head waiter would e over in just a few to discuss the menu. The other waiter came over and knew everything about the menu items and helped us with our decision. The price was a bit high but the service made it worth every penny."

"Classic and classy but informal and fun NOLA. Affordable for Brennan food means good value. Canal Street casual. Go early for better service, it does get busy after 6:30. We go here every time we are in town and it never disappoints. Still can't choose between turtle soup or seafood gumbo, they are both so complex and yummy. To truly enjoy the food, ask to see the recipe book tableside and see all the trouble they go to making the dishes. Also the history of the place is interesting."

"Wait staff seemed confused about which of them was doing what -- desert never arrived for one of our party until asked about it. Crawfish mac 'n cheese was excellent, but arrived cold (not cool, but cold), which was immediately corrected. Food was overall excellent,but the team approach to waiting the table only ended in confusion. Two of our party had been there before, and had encountered the same problem. Nonetheless, I would go back."

"A great place to celebrate my daughters birthday. Beautiful atmosphere, a table next to the window overlooking the vibrant street scene, and a trio of wonderful singers serenading our table. The food was delicious as always, especially the crawfish mac n cheese. The only thing that prevented this from being a perfect evening was the slow service."
