"Although Charcut boasts a 45 minute in-and-out lunch special, my last visit was way too long for a business day lunch.
Arriving with a 12:30 p.m. reservation for three, we waited 15 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated there were no apologies on the delay (or why there was a delay... they just seated us like normal). After being seated it took an additional 15 minutes until we spoke with our server (not his fault, his table beside us had a ton of questions). All in all, the lunch took about 1.5 hours. Food was great and our server was awesome (William I believe), but I was dissapointed with the staff at the hostess stand."

"The food was amazing and the service was great. The chefs often send out complementary 'tastes' of random things. My favorite part and what made the restaurant romantic and/or good for large groups is that everything is easily shared. They like the family style dining and it makes the restaurant really homey. I would not reccomend this place if you are a vegitarian. Most of the meals are meat centric but you could make due."

"They had a great but small/condensed menu. Their dishes were all unique but recognizable which made the experience pleasant. One thing to note that while their menu changes constantly, they seem to have many different items that are centred around a particular meat. For example the day I was there both their "lunch" specials had were pork based which meant that only a handful of alternatives were left. It's not a problem, but something to be aware of."

"It was our anniversary, and no special treatment was received even when mentioned on reservation. Portions of food were very small and very expensive. We went to the restaurant as a recommendation and due to high price would not return. Also parking is an additional charge and was expensive as is situated downtown. The steak was not enough food for a grown man, the chicken and russet potatoes however were great. The cheesecake dessert was excellent however for $8 a piece the portion size was absurd. They do however have a good wine selection, and Skyy vodka as their house brand, but beer selection is not good."

"I had been wanting to try Charcut for quite some time! I live in vancouver so when I had an upcoming work trip planned for Calgary, I knew I had to dine there!!
The food was fantastic and every single server was attentive and service oriented. I loved their friendly, laid back approach as it was relatable and not stuffy. Our server really knew her stuff about the menu and was great at giving recommendations. You could tell she was really passionate about her job.
I loved the entire experience and can't wait to visit again. I really wanted to go back for lunch the next day!!

"I used to love coming here for lunch because you would get your food quickly and be out and back to work in a good amount of time. We came here on a Friday at 1:30. We had reservations for 3. It took over an hour for our food to come out! We even ordered the lunch menu with the guarantee that we would be fed and out of the restaurant in 45 mins or less. What frustrates me is that it wasn't busy, I'd say half full, and yet it took an hour to get our food? How hard is it to make fries and a sandwich? That's what we ordered. The food was delicious, but was it worth the wait? We didn't get any compensation from management either. True, we didn't make a fuss, but I didn't think we had to."

"My husband and I recently went to CharCut for our anniversary and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was incredible! The service was probably the best I've experience, ever! The Executive Chef Connie even made the rounds to all of the tables to check in and offer her assistance! Thanks for an amazing experience. I cannot wait for an excuse to return to Calgary and go there again. This is truely what restaurants should aspire to be!"

"The Gourmet soup and sandwich was a bright spot on a rainy, cold spring day. For a very low price for downtown Calgary we had a tasty bowl of corn chowder soup, an incomparable beef sandwich, parmesan french fries and 2 chocolate chip cookies. We were greeted at the door with a smile and the server was very attentive. Charcut is a great place to go for lunch."

"A girlfriend and I ordered the chef 's choice platter. While the meat was good, it was only meat and not balanced with cheese or bread, olives, etc. we luckily ordered 2 salads which balanced our meal.i feel that the amount of food on the chef's platter was enough for 4 persons and we could have been advised of that by the server."

"Had lunch there with co-workers for 8 people. Mostly everything was perfect. Order taking, service, time for food to be delivered, quality and taste of food....everything was at an outstanding level.
Only one minor issue, when the waitress came to get our bill, she didn't say that gratuity was already added on. So we ended up paying more since we added a tip. I did get a call from them later to tell us about over-billing us and they glady agreed to return the extra, which they did after some back and forth on the phone.
But overall, excellent and delicious food and service!"

The service was excellent from start to finish. We had to call to push back our reservation because we had a minor maintenance issue at our house. When we arrived the hostess remembered who we were and asked us if everything got sorted out. Our server was very helpful and informative, and she showed great enthusiasm for the menu.
The food was great (we had the "butchers cut" steak, pork chop and duck fat poutine-family style) and selection of wines by the glass made for a fun night of tasting different wines with our food."

"Vegetarians be forewarned, this is not your restaurant. However, if you love meat and potatoes, Charcut is your dream come true! The menu is simple, exemplary cooks of various meats prepared extremely well. Portions are generous and well priced. Their wine list is not very extensive, but the offerings are well throughout.
Service was lovely, not above and beyond but still friendly. But I went on a Monday night so I'm wondering if they had the training staff on.
Overall the food is amazing and I would definitely go back! I have a long mental list of items I still want to try!"

"The service was outstanding from start to finish, having never been to Charcut before everything was explained quickly and simply. Food was amazing although portions on small side for price. We loved it but wouldn't be able to go often because it's expensive, that's why I stated above for special occasion. I don't like tables so close together, when I made the reservation I asked for a quiet table and we were seated right beside another table, a foot away."

"After years of wanting to go I finally got together with my foodie ex and made it down. First time I've been to a restaurant operated by a celebrity chef that said chef was working. Food was original, very delicious and surprisingly reasonably priced. To have an amazing food nerd experience including 2 drinks, appetizer, desserts and coffee for just over $100 before tip is a rare thing. And we took food home so the portions (though I could have eaten 4 of those amazing cheezecakes) were more than adequate. All in all an excellent experience and we'll worth the wait."

"Now that I work downtown again, it can be both a struggle and a delight to find restaurants within walking distance of my work, boast a good but not too pricy menu and can give fast enough service for my 1-hour-only lunches. With that knowledge, my sister recommended CHARCUT.
Besides the modern decor, the first thing I appreciated was our server. She was genuinely bubbly and ready to help, whether it be offering advice on the food or topping up our water. We ended up ordering the two lunch specials to share because they sounded great, came with cookies (hello!) and promised to fit within a 45min time-frame. Perfect.
Conclusion: I will definitely go back. Stellar customer service, tasty food and superb company (sister bias pending)."

"This was our first visit to Charcut and we were looking very forward to our visit based on the menu online. We shared the pretzel appy which was good and each had the steak. The glass of wine I ordered was not a 5oz pour as expected and because of slow service, did not stay for dessert. Unfortunately we didn't experience anything very special here."

"We went for Mother's Day. I've been to Charcut about 7-8 times now, and it's fantastic. Kind of wanted to see a bit of a different menu, but it was delicious as always.
The wait staff seemed a bit slower, not really on the ball like they normally are. We managed a relatively early reservation, so it wasn't really that busy."

"I was very excited to come to Charcut. Went out for my birthday dinner with my wife and was disappointed. The noise level was way too high and the food was not as good as I had hoped for. My expectations may have been way too high. The duck fat poutine was not good at all. My wife and I didn't even finish the small order.
the only saving grace was the grade-A service."

"We had an amazing time at CHARCUT! Everything was fantastic from the service to the amazing food. It made for a great birthday dinner for my girlfriend. It was nice chatting with one of the chef's.... She even sent us out a little desert to take back to our room! we had a wonderful evening and we will be back next time we are in Calgary."
