The “food, owners and servers are all so very Italian” at this “neighborhood favorite” next to Santa Monica Airport (and its branch on Colorado Avenue) where locals go for “delicious, unpretentious”, “reasonably priced” fare and “friendly”, “attentive” service in a “low-key” setting that’s “perfect” when “you want a tablecloth but don’t want to get dressed up.
"Il Forno is a terrific go-to Italian restaurant with a diverse menu of well-priced gourmet foods, with consistently high quality and overseen by the owner. It's one of our 'go-to' restaurants on the West Side of L.A."

"No special Mother's Day Menu. Excellent shrimp salad. Lobster Ravioli, heavy cream sauce - not delicate. Halibut - mushy, again sauce killed delicacy of the fish. We were never asked if we wanted desert or offert a desert list. Should have ordered pizza, they looked delicious. Generous portions."

"This place is highly recommended. Every person we have introduced to Il Forno is hooked for life. The food is so healthy, yet inventive, flavorful...excellent service, family-owned and run, great wine and desserts. We go back for the same dishes again and again, and we eat there at least twice a week. ( Lunch prices are cheaper than dinner, but they do not serve their incredible bruschetta.) I could go on and on, but just go and see for yourself!"

"I have been dining at this establishment for 14+ years. They never disappoint. This was my parents favorite dining spot in their later years, reasonably priced and the food is great!"

"We really enjoyed our dining experience at Il Forno --a lovely, Italian restaurant in a friendly, neighborhood setting. This clearly popular restaurant is alive and bustling with lots of customers. However, it was on the noisy side. There are outside and inside opportunities for dining. The food was well prepared and tastefully presented. The four of us had different dishes....fish, pasta, chicken, steak and each one of us enjoyed our meal. We certainly plan to go again. Actually two of us have been to Il Forno before."

"Was always a go-to spot. Service was deplorable, did not get items ordered, could not even get coffee. All appeared on bill of course, when reminded, "I will take off", not even a "sorry. Out of 4 dinners, 2 were really enjoyed, 1 so-so, and one was unpleasant. Will have second thoughts about returning. What happened to this restaurant??"

"I'd heard good things about Il Forno from various friends who live in West Los Angeles. They told me that this was a nice, casual, tasty Italian restaurant, perfect for lunch. And of course, what better opportunity to dine here than Dine LA's 2013 Restaurant week. The bread was toasty and warm. Our server was a friendly fellow. I didn't catch his name but now I wish I had. Our salads were OK. I thought that the caprese could have benefitted from some balsamic vinaigrette. Otherwise, it was just large slices of cheese on not too sweet tomatoes, and a few straggly strands of basil on top for aesthetics. My entree was to be a rigatoni in bolognese. I was not pleased. I faked it, ate my food w. a smile and was unhappy for the rest of my visit."
