Located in Ballantyne Village, The Blue Taj is a groundbreaking restaurant serving Indian Cuisine and a much needed and welcome addition to Charlotte’s dining scene.
The Décor at The Blue Taj is chic and modern, yet very cozy and eclectic. There are four themed dining areas to keep the excitement going for each time you visit. A chic wine cellar also graces the floor of the restaurant where vast and popular selections of wines are stored in a good temperature and humidity controlled environment. "We have been to the Blue Taj several times and have always enjoyed the food and service. This time was no different as far as the food... It was excellent! However, the service was not so great this time. We waited forever to get our bar drinks, and even after asking about our naan bread, we didn't get it until we were almost finished with our meal. I will still go back for the food, but I sure hope the service is better!"

"I went for lunch during the week and ordered from the dinner menu as it offered more variety than the lunch menu did. The down side to that was that I spend about $70.00 (b4/tip)! The food was very good, but a little pricy. I would like to see them revamp the menu just a little to include more descriptions for first timers such as myself and also consider placing servers according to the experience of the dining party. The service was okay, but may have been better if our server spoke english and was able to explain the dishes on the menu. He got someone to assist with our table and that person was able to suggest items for us to try. The bad part about this is that these items were not on the menu so we didn't know the prices in advance."

"Always a pleasure! Great staff with prompt service. The buffet on Sunday is a great way to try different flavors if you are new to the cuisine. Morvin is a great waiter that takes care of every need. Whether it be lunch or dinner, you won't go wrong with the Blue Taj."

"Holy smokes...in all my years I have never had a restaurant fall so far so fast...I have eaten here for lunch a few times and had 4 to 5 star experiences...yes the dinner experience was that bad.
We came in tonight celebrating a family event, I made reservations for 4 people for 5:15 (cold and rainy day in Charlotte).
Before I start the review....for the love of all that is Holy..PUT SOME SLIDERS underneath your chairs...everytime someone moved their chair it sounded like nails across a chalkboard.
Service:
At 5:05 we walked in..bar was open, one other table was seated, but hostess said they needed 10 minutes to get ready before we could sit as restaurant was not open. My wife noted hey, it's freezing out there and instead of sug"

"Great Buffet Selection and Menu List also. I appreciate the attention to detail for the buffet items-all are replaced when getting low with fresh food replacements..very hard to find these days when dining in ANY restaurant! Example: Buffet 1145-3pm; food in OTHER competitive locations gets old and the restaurant won't cook fresh because the "crowd" is gone..or replacement of fresh food gets 'lazy' around +1:45pm..but NOT at the Blue Taj!!! I love this place; a MUST TRY for: A Business Impression; Special Event. or Sunday Buffett.. ask for Vikrant and if Morvin is working, he is an attentive waiter to have as well.. They do anything to accommodate. You come to the Blue Taj..you have chosen wisely for your Indian Cuisine Experience!"

"This is one of our favorite restaurants. Very family friendly. Ask for Viki (Vikrant). He is very knowledgeable and will recommend substitutions for picky eaters (or kids). Service is excellent. The staff is friendly and welcoming. This is the best Indian food in Charlotte."

"This was the 4th time we've been to Blue Taj and we always love the food, but this time, the service was the worst we've ever experienced. We waited about 45 minutes for our food and during that time, the waiter never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks or to check on us. Another couple had their credit card on the table waiting to pay their bill for about 20-30 minutes until they finally stood up to go. I could tell that they were pretty frustrated, too. When we got our food, it was excellent, as always, but I hope that they figure out what went wrong Saturday night so this doesn't happen again."
