In January 2005, the aquatic-chic restaurant, rm seafood joined the newest wave of world class restaurants at Mandalay Place. Award-winning seafood maestro, Rick Moonen, one of the hottest chefs at the helm, was lured from NYC to create rm seafood. A mecca for seafood lovers and hipsters alike, rm seafood is a relaxed rocking bistro atmosphere that also features a world-class sushi bar & coast-coast oysters at the raw bar. "I had selected this restaurant because I reasoned it would be quiet, romantic and a bit exclusive. It was none. We almost left twice. Every ten minutes a new table was sat and LEFT within minutes. Tables are ridiculously close together. A Table for Two barely fits your entree plates plus a drink yet you are having to shout across a 3 ft table. You cannot even hold hands! Very uncomfortable arrangement. It's extremely loud from just the patrons but then they play loud bar-type music. BABIES were crying. Half naked, obese 60-yr-old woman wearing no bra and a mid-drift moo-moo sat nearby. After ordering $180 meal and drinks we were not even offered a complimentary dessert on our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We should have left early."

"We went for the seafood and were not disappointed by the food. Excellent preparation and execution with interesting flavors. That said, for the price and cache of such a restaurant, we were expecting something more in service and ambiance. It felt a bit like eating at a mall, especially being seating near the 'outside' of the restaurant. The service was attentive, but also a bit pushy. We would recommend it, but with the caveat that it does not have a particularly romantic or cool vibe."

"Was disappointed our party of 4 was taken to the back area of the bar instead of main dining area without asking. We were nicely dressed. We were moved. Service was very attentive and food quality very good. Interesting the daily feature at this nice seafood place was a pork chop. They will split entre's."

"A shrimp cocktail most impressive (a must), and the surf and turf very solid. But surprisingly the cocktails were the real highlight, some I the best I've ever had. The El Dictador is 'off the planet' good.
The dessert sampler is awesome, especially the key lime pie.

"I go to RM Seafood every time I am in Vegas because I love seafood. But the the hostesses are consistently arrogant and try to seat you at the worst table they have. The servers are good and make up for the hostesses, but will push you to order way too much food."

"While we LOVE this restaurant, unfortunately our seating assignment was less than ideal. While the majority of the restaurant was empty, the hostess seated us immediately adjacent to another table for two (a table for four with a slight separation). We inquired about a different table but were told other tables were for people with reservations. This was confusing as we had a reservation that we made a number of weeks ago through OpenTable. The party next to us was somewhat loud and it was unfortunate as we were unable to enjoy dinner conversation until the diners next to us left halfway through our main course. Our waiter Cliff made all the difference. His attention to detail and excellent recommendations will keep us coming back."

"King Salmon was perfectly cooked, not overcooked as it often is at other restaurants. we really loved the papaya Thai salad with its bright taste and slightly spicy bite. The lobster was very good and the Key Lime pie was exceptional. The sevice was excellent and among the best we experienced during our week visit to Las Vegas."

"It may not be fair for me to review, because I went here for lunch, when there is a limited menu. I ordered their special cheeseburger which was quite tasty. The burger is big and a little greasy, so we split it in half - a perfect size for such a rich item. I cannot recall the appetizer or my dining partner's meal, but it was all delightful. I would come back again - this time for dinner."

"#1. We called ahead and asked if they had sea bass, the person told us since we had 5:15 reservations we should have no problem since they started the dinner menu at 5. We asked for sea bass and were told they did not have sea bass and they were us substituting tuna. Very disapointing after being told tthey had it. # 2. We chose 2 of the specials, for the 3 dinners the bill was almost 300.00 dollars. The only drinks were 1 iced tea and a diet soda. Way too much money for what was served. This was our second and last vist."

"Our first night in Vegas this trip and we had bad food at Rick Moonen's Seafood! The clams were perfect size and the serving size was large, but the sauce was so salty, it ruined the clams. Wedge salad was boring! My husband had sushi and there was literally no taste, he thought he had gotten the wrong roll and had to ask the waiter. He could not taste the lobster in the roll, it was mushy and the top layer of fish was dry and tough. We will not go back!"

"The restaurant didn't blow us away but it was quite good. Hubs had filet which had great flavor. I had salmon. Was cooked perfectly but could have used more sauce. Drinks where good. Felt compelled to order off special drink menu. Waiter didn't know what Hubs' drink order was. Skipped dessert. Busboy said Hubs' suit was "fresh" but while we were in suit and cocktail dress to eat, others were in flip flops and shorts. Step it up people!"

"Perhaps I'm being unfair to RM Seafood, but we weren't blown away, as we want to be when dining in Las Vegas. Everything we had was good or very good, except that my husband's Dungeness was virtually tasteless. The area in which we were seated (a "patio" looking onto the interior of a shopping mall in a casino) was underwhelming and totally lacking in atmosphere. I think if we'd been seated inside, and ordeed differently, we would have had a very different experience. I'd recommend it with some reservations."

"We went to RM's for our last dinner in Vegas and it was great. The food was good but a little on the pricey side. $24 for one small crab cake. But that wouldn't stop me from returning. The service was awesome, very personable and attentive. Great place!"

"This was my 3rd time returning to RM Seafood. We had the large Seafood Sampler and it was over the top fabulous! The side salad we ordered was delicious too with fresh greens, golden beets and other delicious flavors. The seafood tower (as I like to call it) was three tiers of seafood on beds of crushed ice. Oysters, clams, mussels, dungenous crab, jumbo shrimp all topped off with a full tobster! Amazing, fresh and delicious. Worth every penny (and it will set you back quite a few of them). This is an expensive place, but you get what you pay for in every way. Don't miss the mix-masters at the well stocked bar for specialty cocktails. These men and women are true creative types and will surely find something you'll enjoy."

"We were initially disappointed to find on arrival that although we had a confirmed booking for upstairs, that this section of the restaurant was closed on a Monday. The receptionist's attitude did leave a lot to be desired when she informed us that it had not opened on a Monday for over 5 years - Yes love, we're from another country and your website doesn't mention this, so how are we supposed to know. However, we were given the upstairs menu, and our waiter was fantastic; he even told us that our starters would be suitable for sharing, so that we didn't end up over-ordering so we did not miss out in the end. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Vegas, and will go back if we are lucky enough to return to Vegas."

"While I like the fact that Rick Moonen goes to the effort of providing sustainable foods on his menu, the menu is very pricey for what you get. I would have given overall more stars on the rating had the food been priced lower. I don't see the value in paying $24 for a half dozen oysters."

"RM Seafood, downstairs, at Mandalay Bay, was exactly what I expected from world class chef, Rick Moonen. The only bad thing, and I do mean, the only one, was the bullion that came with the Halibut, I thought, it was a little too salty...yet, full of flavor."

"Like most Las Vegas restaurants it offers high quality food at very high prices. Three people, Lobster, Crab, Filet Mignon, plus 12 oysters as appetizers, two bottles of wine (both on the cheaper side of the price range.) Out the door with tip, $600."

"Although the food at RM Seafood is fantastic, it's WAY overpriced. As a resident of Manhattan, I'm used to paying top dollar for quality meals, but Rick has priced his menu too high which was evident by the lack of patrons in the restaurant. We dined at RM twice, once for dinner and once for lunch, and both times there were only 2 other occupied tables the entire length of our stay. If Rick doesn't adjust his prices soon, I fear RM Seafood will no longer be able to keep its doors open."

"The food was yummy, except the halibut which was mushy ( we ate it anyway). The king crab seemed slightly overpriced at $80/ lb but that's about what I'd expect from a restaurant on the strip and it was delicious so we didn't mind. Dessert was excellent too and I liked that they offer a good champagne by the glass. The staff was very accommodating to our 1 year old which I always appreciate. Overall it was a good experience. We will be eating here again and I would recommend it to others."

"The food is almost Great!!!. The service is really below the food standard. I was serving my own wine, not only once but three or four times. Additionally a brawl at the house of blues and a bit of Police Maze added to the spice of the seafood. My throat was aching."

"I had the fish tacos for lunch and suggest removing them from the menu--I expected Bobby Flay-style soft tacos with a nice chipotle sauce, cabbage, and/or guacamole or mango salsa, but it was only a small portion of fish stuck between a hard shell tortilla. The jicama salad was nice, but I was famished an hour later--not what I expected for $19! That said, my dining companion enjoyed the pork mac & cheese."
