What's Sunny Spot? Think roadside cook shop, where Roy Choi’s in the kitchen and every day's a holiday. Here you'll find sticky, crackling, double-fried jerk chicken, rum-glazed prawns and plates of fried pig's feet. Brown sugar short ribs scented with Old World spices will vanish under hungry hands while the plate is still hot-hot-hot. "The simple, bright decor brings a smile to your face when you walk in. The food is well-prepared, great to share, & the staff is friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. We ate on the spacious, quiet patio. The noise in the bar area is quite loud, so the patio is a delightful respite from the indoor scene.

"This was our second time at Sunny Spot and the food was amazing but the service was strange. They are very friendly and knowledgable about their food but both times had ti wait almost 25 minutes for a drink to the point of them getting there just ahead of the appetizers.I'll be back but next time I'm going to sit at the bar ."

"A really fun neighborhood spot -- a great happy hour menu with yummy five dollar specialties, like fried plaintain or sweet potato fries. The Carribbean vibe, complete with a rum-centered cocktail menu, fits well with the Venice neighborhood. The noise level is pretty loud, especially on weekends -- believe it or not the outdoor seating is actually a little quieter."

"This was my second visit to SUNNY SPOT. The scene is vibrant along with the decor. The rum drinks are refreshing and compliment the Caribbean fare. The Jamaican roasted lamb is worth checking out."

"After hearing amazing things about Sunny Spot from a number of friends I went last Saturday with a group of 4 girlfriends. We had a wonderful time! The service was amazing (LOVED our waiter), the food delicious and the drinks very tasty. Prices were also fairly reasonable, especially considering how upscale this place is. I will DEFINITELY be going back!"

"We enjoyed our experience - loved the outdoor patio, enjoyed some fun drinks, thought that the service was very good but, sadly, the food was a bit disappointing. Our fried calamari were not hot and both the portion and presentation were pretty weak. Another appetizer we shared tasted quite odd and was not very pleasing to look at. Our entrees were pretty tasty but, again, lacking on the presentation. All in all, fun spot for drinks more so than dinner."

"Went with a colleague for a quick bite after work on a Thursday night around 7:30. The bar area was surprisingly pretty busy so we decided to eat in there for some people watching. I ordered the Jamaican Lamb, which was delicious! I would definitely recommend the Sunny Spot"

"Have now dined here twice. Both times were excellent. However, this last time we went my wife ordered the chili prawns and they were nuclear hot, for her or anyone not a bonafide chiliholic. Aside from that, everything is excellent here."

"We found this place on Open Table. It is in our neighborhood, but we have overlooked it for years. What a treat. Everything was great. The drinks mixed by Alice were surprising and perfect for our individual taste. The time and care she gave to helping us choose was unexpected. Our server, Amanda, was full of knowledge and easily guided our dining experience. The food was perfect. Interesting combinations and takes on Caribbean favorites. Matt, the GM, stopped by to make sure everything was ideal. (I can't remember the last time I remembered the names of the restaurant staff two days later). This is a place that could work to be cool in that LA off putting way, but instead made us feel welcomed and special in the old Venice way."

"The food at Sunny Spot is terrific. We had a new waitress who was thoughtful and attentive. The only thing I would ding this restaurant for is the seats. They are so uncomfortable it almost makes you want to leave faster. Is this incidental or part of the plan? Love the restaurant. Please invest in more comfortable seats for the sake of your customers. Thank you."
