Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Monica
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat. Also just a few blocks from the waterfront, our sister restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.

"The restaurant was not very busy when we were seated at about 6:45pm and grew busier by 7pm. Either the server was not experienced in dealing with a volume restaurant or needs training. Everything we asked for like lemons to go with the Lobster or fresh bread because he had brought us day old stale hard like rock bread or anything other than the main course which someone else brought us was never brought. We had to ask everyone else for help getting the items we needed at the table. The main courses were great and the service terrible. In case someone from the restaurant actually reads this the waiters name is Jeff."

"Ive been to the restaurant several times, and this was the first time I walked out extremely displeased. I had to wait an hour for my food, and when I finally got my salad it had cheese on it even though I told the waiter I was lactose intolerant. I then had to wait another twenty minutes and when I got the rest of my food it was room temperature. the grilled veggies were bitter, and overall it was a very unpleasant experience. I will think twice before going back."

"I made Open Table reservations for 5P.M. & the restraunt was packed when we arrived; but we were seated as soon as we walked in to My surprise:) We had the Best Service & the food selection on their special Mothers' Day menu was great & we asked if we could order something from their regular menu & they did. We had a Delicious dinner with a 2 pound main lobster that was split in half & was beautiful on the plate & was very tender & cooked to perfection & we had the alaskan king crab legs & 2 orders of Seafood fish. We all enjoyed the evening with fabulous drinks & food & the waitress Katie was Super. We highly recommend Seafood Enterprise for Seafood. Thank You Open Table :)"

"Took my wife there and family for Mother's Day, after being seated and sitting there for 15 minutes I had to get the managers attention and asked if we could be served. The waitress seemed completely uninterested and did not welcome us or tell us about any specials. After ordering our food we waited another hour for our food to be brought out. The calamari was rubbery, my wife's fish was overlooked and the steak seemed liked steak from a Sizzler. Our drinks were refilled once and while we waited for our food the waitress did not once stop by to let us know when it might be ready but she kept putting bread on our table, I didn't come for bread. I chose this place cause of good reviews, I think someone's fibbed, the place was awful!"

"The restaurant staff were very nice, helpful, and very good service.
The restaurant was a little noisy, which I new about when I made the reservation (this was not an issue for our group)
Some food items were good, like my lobster bisque, others were not edible (crab cakes greasy and a lot of bread).

"We arrived at the very busy Enterprise Frish Co. on a Sunday afternoon, a little past 5... It was already hopping with activity on the side of the restaurant that had the bar and Happy Hour.... I checked the menu on that to be seated quickly, but it wasn't very extensive and I wanted more of a meal.
We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for 4, even though there were plenty of empty tables. I believe they were understaffed with waiters.
I ordered a Mahi Mahi with macadamia nut encrusted sauce, and when it arrived had to push back the over cooked onion straws on top and never did find any madadamia nuts... It was rather bland and not a dish I would ever order again..

"Not sure why this place is so lively. The food was very mediocre; the staff inattentive; the decor dreary. I sent back a Ahi tuna salad nicoise that had seemingly been setting in the refrigerator for a good 12 hours. Big piece of rare tuna; but tasteless. When was the carpet last cleaned. "Not what it used to be. I was a big fan of the original up in Santa Barbara, and have visited the Santa Monica location numerous times over the years. This used to be a nice place to have a reasonably priced meal when you were craving a little fresh fish. The food is still okay, but the prices are tending towards high-end. I paid $29 for my salmon dinner the other night, which included a bland house salad and some grilled vegetables. If you can bear another half-hour on the road, I recommend you head up PCH until you hit the Reel Inn in Malibu."
