The Duck Club Restaurant at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa embraces guests with a warm, old world elegance that is reminiscent of a 18th century European hunting club. With its French countryside murals, distressed wood floors, rich textures, and private view out over the iconic fountain courtyard, guests are transported to another time and place. Our menu leverage from the bounty of the land and sea that surronds us. The result is the creation of approachable dishes featuring refined contemporary cuisine, with a focus on the freshest seasonal, regional and organic ingredients and choice seafood and steaks. The Duck Club's expansive wine program focuses on the finest California wines which are presented in a mahogany walk-in wine cellar. The emphasis on food-wine pairings is most prominently displayed at the Restaurant's exclusive winemaker's dinners.
"As a party of four, we had a quiet booth off to one side. Service attention was very good and timely. Three different entrees received high reviews. The scollop 'special' had very good flavor, but only two scollops - too light for a $24 dish. Our wait person was very knowledgable and friendly - almost too friendly. We didn't really want to hear about allergies and her dogs. Otherwise, an excellent experience; we will return."

"My wife and I had dinner (and breakfast the following morning) while staying at the hotel. In the past, we have found restaurants associated with an on-site hotel can be hit or miss---this one was a hit. We were highly impressed with the restaurant. Top notch all the way. The staff were friendly and attentive during both meals that we ate there. Food was very well prepared and flavorful. The dinner entree was a little smaller than I expected; however, that was fine since we're both trying to watch our weight! The orange creme brulee was a great choice for dessert. Our server (Vivian) definitely made our dining experience pleasurable. We will be certain to eat here again if we are in the area."

"We have always enjoyed this restaurant. Feels private with booths by the window overlooking courtyard. Service great. Food is quality. We go to this restaurant and stay overnight at the hotel just to get away even though we live in walnut creek."

"I made this reservation in honor of my lady friend's birthday. I hadn't dined at the Duck Club for years so decided to give it a try as I wanted her birthday dinner to be special- and it was!
We started with a crab cake appetizer that was incredible, shared a salad and each of us ordered a steak for dinner. The steaks (she had the filet and me a New York) were perfectly prepared and excellent in every way.
We finished with a dessert that was 'on the house' and even decorated with 'Happy Birthday' drizzled in chocolate on the plate along with the customary candle.
The only criticism I have was I ordered two glasses of sparkling wine ($16 ea. is my memory?)and it was about 3 oz. so I thought that was not a good value."

"I scheduled a business lunch meeting and checked in at the desk for my reservation saying I'd wait for my party. It was raining, so I had comfort food -- essentially a grilled cheese with ham and tomatoe soup while my dining partner had ... I forget. My meal was very tasty, service good and this place, inside a boutique hotel, quite nice. The noise level was low so we could talk. The only (minor) downside is that I received a "no show" message from Open Table even though I did check in at the desk and used my credit card to pay for both of our meals. That was easily rectified however."

"For a memorable and delicious dinner, this is one of our top places to go to dine in an elegant environment with relaxing ambience, comfort with a sense of privacy and top-notch, friendly and attentive service. Before the sun sets, the adjacent, treed and flowered open courtyard is a lovely backdrop to view and provide a sense of beauty and tranquility. Enjoy!"

"The food is always excellent at the Duck Club. They always provide innovative menu items and it is cooked perfectly. The service was a little to be desired on our last trip as we were waiting for a while before we were served but it was pleasant at the same time."

"Lafayette Park Hotel is a lovely setting. The Brunch is nice, however, when we got there they must have been between shifts because the buffet tables were sparsely stocked. Our reservations were at noon. Our breakfast choice (All American) was mediocre at best. Our server was prompt and attentive serving coffee and Champagne. As we were leaving, we noticed the buffet tables were suddenly fully stocked and we felt a little cheated. We certainly didn't leave hungry, we just felt the buffet table selections were a little lacking."

"Have not been there for about a year but it seemed the selections at the self-serve areas were not as expansive as our last visit. Also I think the champage was not the one we had on previous visits. Sunday's was good but whatever was being served before was better. All in all it was enjoyable."

"We celebrated my Uncle's 90th birthday. He is almost deaf, so we needed a quiet place with easy access (he uses a walker). The Duck Club was perfect. Very quiet and valet parking. The food was very nice and our server was very attentive. My only complaint was that we waited a long time between dinner and desert. But, all in all, a wonderful dinner!"

"Service and ambience was excellent. Our only disappointment was the beet salad. It should not be called a beet salad, as there were only three small slices of one kind of beet. Very disappointing, should have sent it back. Main courses were excellent"

"We really enjoyed our meal here. The food was excellent and priced right. We recently ate at Flemmings and paid more than double for a similar meal. On this night the restaurant was nearly empty but the bar was busy. They deserve more business and we will be back the next time we want a romantic dinner."

"It would be great if the food matched the upscale restaurant ambiance. I might considering going back for the bar scene but probably not the restaurant."

"We went for our 14th wedding anniversary, seeing as our wedding reception was at the Lafayette Park Hotel. We were greeted promptly at the door and seated immediately. We took advantage of the no corkage charge (Tuesday through Thursday) and provided our own wine from home. Both of us had the filet mignon, which was prepared excellent. Service was prompt but not in your face. We will definitely go back again and recommend to our friends."

"The decor is 1990's, needs a update. The booths near the windows need blinds or curtains as they are cold. The short rib entre was very good as was the apple crisp dessert. The staff was very good they just need to polish their skills, meaning when pouring water don't rush it and get all of the water in the glass, also when removing plates from tables stacking more than 2 to 3 looks like a diner type of plate removal. I would love to see them make some changes because Lafayette needs more restaurants."

"My friend and I had dinner on a Saturday night. The parking is a bit tight under the building but they do have valet parking. My friend had the fried prawns which was the special and I had the salmon. I was going to order the halibut but it was not on the menu as a choice that evening. We also had the beet salad and the ahi tartare. All the dishes were prepared well and to our liking. Portions were fine not too small and not too much. We could hear each other talk so it was not noisy like some restaurants. We could see our food as the lighting was perfect. For dessert we had the bread pudding and it was good but if it had more bourbon sauce would have been better. The menu overall was small but they had an assortment of meats to please all."

"Old School place. Nice, QUITE, perfect for romantic dinners. Food is not exceptional, but good. Limited drink selection. But again: perfect for dates, because you can have a conversation without needing to raise your voice."
