The Duck Club Restaurant at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa embraces guests with a warm, old world elegance that is reminiscent of a 18th century European hunting club. With its French countryside murals, distressed wood floors, rich textures, and private view out over the iconic fountain courtyard, guests are transported to another time and place.
Executive Chef Chuck Courtney's menu leverages his diverse array of talents that have been featured in Wine Spectator, Bon Appetit and the New York Times. The result is the creation of approachable dishes featuring refined contemporary cuisine, with a focus on the freshest seasonal, regional and organic ingredients and choice seafood and steaks.
The Duck Club's expansive wine program focuses on the finest California wines which are presented in a mahogany walk-in wine cellar. The emphasis on food-wine pairings is most prominently displayed at the Restaurant's exclusive winemaker's dinners, which annually feature Grgich Hills, among others.

"We love the Duck Club & had dined there often without disappointment for lunch & dinner. They even handled the food for our daughters' wedding for which there were endless complments for the food.
Our prior experieces had been under Executive Chef Palmer, who is no longer there. Not being aware of the change hosted some out of town friends.
I had the duck and was VERY disappointed. It was too sweet with multiple fruits combinations, swiming in sauce and the sides were sad. Definitely not Chef Palmer's duck quarter with crispy skin w/the perfect cherry sauce & wonderful green vegatables. Others in the group loved the lamb chops, short ribs and one liked the duck.
Overall, the Duck Club is a must, but don't go for the duck."

"Attentive service. Only wish our waiter was more knowledgeable about wines. Disappointed that there was not a fish of the day. Overall the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The ambiance is wonderful and the sound level very tolerable. We were able to hear each other across a very large table."

"I had the halibut. It was overdone and the vegetables was tough. The au gratin potatoes were dry and overcooked as well. The service was on the poorer side of fair. We had to ask for things, including the dishes to be taken away. For the price I would skip this place. :("

"Four of us went for lunch and enjoyed seating in an alcove from where we could enjoy the fountain and newly potted pansies plantings in the courtyard. We enjoyed our shrimp/chicken salads with Asian dressing & crisp flatbreads. The wines are expensive. Instead of paying from $7 upward per glass, we ordered a bottle of Chardonnay at $30, which was the better decision. I've eaten there many times, usually enjoying it. Our waitress was a bit off-putting since she didn't seem to enjoy waiting on people. Though I'd mentioned when making the reservation that we had two birthdays, there were no little cupcake/candle surprises—which I thought, was "surprising" and would have been a nice and special touch. Overall, a great venue for lunch or dinner"

"This was for a business lunch. The food was very good. The menu had wonderful options. The service was exceptional. We were able to conduct our business without any outside noise interruptions and also felt we did not need to keep our conversation overly quiet because we didn't want to interrupt others. "The dining room only had one (1) server which apparently overwhelmed the server when there were five+ tables to service. Service on all previous visits has been very good to outstanding. "We love the Duck Club! We have shared a few romantic dinners there for our anniversary. However, I made the mistake of booking a reservation for brunch, instead of an early Valentine's dinner. "Over priced. Older crowd 50+ which was not what I was looking for. Good beer. Food was good however not great. We had steak and preparation of steak was not how we ordered the meal. Party of 2 was over $150. We were sat at a small table while many larger / nicer tables were open and never filled. The experience and food did not match the price. IF the price was $100 I would have been more satisfied."

"It doesn't seem like they have as big of a selection as they used to in terms of food. The fruit and salmon were very fresh. My husbands omlelet was missing it's cheese and looked more like an egg sandwich with some bacon and mushrooms thrown in. The eggs benedict looked really good-will get that next time. Bloody Mary was delicious at the bar. The floor there is very slippery-use caution when wearing heals."

"We were there later on a weeknight, so the dining room was uncrowded and quiet which was just fine for us for that evening. The bar, which serves great food & we've eaten in many times, was busy and energetic. We both had the short ribs and we each substituted different sides for the noodles on which the ribs are normally served. The substitutions were made cheerfully and at no charge. The ribs were fabulous! My cream of asparagus soup was rich, but very good. We shared the chocolate brownie dessert which was also wonderful. We would definitely recommend the Duck Club for an excellent meal."

"I thought to be conservative this time and ordered chicken parmesan and a half bottle of Laetitia Pinot Noir to share. The pasta is quite light on the serving, which I did not mind. The chicken is a good portion and flavorful. With re: to the wine and service -- at first, we ordered a Cab, but did not like it. We found the server a bit grumpy when handling our request to replace the wine. We thought that his age has something to do with it. Thankfully, the manager was gracious enough to attend to us and made the experience wonderful. The menu seem not to have many options, but I'd say its worth coming back and try the rest."

"A very pleasant place for a leisurely brunch on a rainy Sunday. The service though was too leisurely. We concluded that the restaurant was short of staff. "Our three-some frequently meets for lunch, and this is one of the few spots we all enjoy -- good food attractively served, convenient parking, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices. It is wonderful to be able to reserve online -- no waiting, no errors, no "hours". We were pleasantly greeted, seated immediately, and allowed to sit and visit after lunch. A delightful day!"

"My sister and I seem to be short of family at Christmas, now that we're "older" - so we decided on a comfy but elegant dinner on Christmas day evening at the Duck Club (we've been going to the Claremont Hotel for the past several years - it's been good, but we needed a change). The Duck Club was PERFECT - everything we hoped for, and more. The service was silken, at a just-right pace and so relaxed (especially for my sister, who's a slow eater). The food (a prix fixe dinner menu - not a huge array of choices, but plenty enough so that all our selections were successful) was marvelous and then some. There was nothing that was not savory, inventive, delicious, at the perfect temperature, etc. We were SO pleased with the experience!!!!"

"Extremely dissapointed with food & service at Duck Club yesterday. I took my mother there for lunch to celebrate her 74th Birthday. The valet service was horrible - they were clearly overwhelmed & needed more help. The woman at the hostess stand was clearly out of her element & preoccupied with other things. She asked my name 3 times when checking us in & then told me I was the first to arrive when my mother was right there with me - LOL. The waiter had no personality & was extremely slow. The food was horrible. My mom had the quiche special which turned out to be a popover. My cobb salad was bad. There was no acknowledgement of her birthday & he never brought the check. I finally gave him my credit card when we was walking by us. UGH!"

"My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Domaine Chandon Wine Tasters dinner. Not only were the wines paired with outstanding food by Chuck Courtney, Executive Chef; we were seated with a wonderful couple from Rossmoor as well. The wait staff were efficient, warm and friendly. "We went to the Duck Club for Thanksgiving and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. Especially on a holiday when so many people are going out, getting the food just right with a lot of patrons is particularly tricky. Duck Club offered an absolutely delicious selections on their prix fixe menu and our waitress was professional and service-oriented."

"This is a review of the Sunday Brunch experience. Great setting for a Sunday brunch especially if you want to splurge a bit with family, friends, or a significant other. Tablecloth setting with champagne/apple cider/orange juice to wet your appetite before enjoying the many savory (smoked salmon, prosciutto, grilled freshwater eel, roasted veggies, etc.) and sweet (pastries, fresh fruit, etc.) selections. Continue on to choose a main dish from their menu ranging anywhere from honey french toast to pasta w/clams and shrimp. Service was attentive without being intrusive; Our waiter made sure our glasses were filled at all times. If I were on vacation, I would like my brunch experience to be like this."
