Acclaimed chef George Morrone - the creative force behind Aqua, the Fifth Floor, Tartare, and the only chef to earn four stars at two different restaurants, introduces Boca - a steakhouse inspired by Morrone's Argentinean heritage.
Boca specializes in meats with Argentinean accents. A wood burning oven fires signature dishes such as empanadas, Argentinean-style house made sausages, and both grass-fed and corn-fed steaks are fired. Additionally, fowl, fresh fish, soups, and salads are offered.
Famous restaurant designer Michael Brennan (Tartare, Cortez) designed Boca to elicit the feel of a rustic Estancia (a ranch found in Southern Argentinia).
Boca spotlights unique wines and small producers. The list has a strong emphasis on local producers, and a focus on Argentinean and Spanish varietals.
Bring the whole family to experience a children's menu, which includes a dessert cart made of house made ice creams.
"Other than our check taking too long to get & the prices being fairly high, this was a very nice restaurant. We had the prime rib & New York - Prime Rib was a better cut of meat. Wine choices by the glass were ok but not great."

"Definitely a restaurant for any special occasion. My husband and I 'discovered' it a few months back when visiting family in Novato. Now it's our 'go-to' place whenever we're in town. As a steak house, it serves all the usual suspects, but has fabulous variety of everything else. Anyone looking for a 'date night' place to dine, it's romantic without being fussy!"

"Food here was very good. The early bird special 3 course is a real value. Had the hanger steak, it was excellent. My husband ordered the waguyu beef steak special which was a $30 entree. To be honest, my hanger steak was better, both of s agreed.
Also, we were there at 5 pm and dinner took 3 hours! it was obvious the waitperson was overwhelmed as he had too many tables. That, i might add is not the waitperson's fault, it is the restaurants poor planning. 3 hours for dinner really made for a long day as we had come from a golf game."

"Ceasar was a small head of crisp romaine with a flavorful dressing and two anchovies on top. Perfect.
My recommendation for them is go a la carte like a real steak house. My rib-eye was delicious if slightly overcooked (med-rare was just pink, not red.) I think this was because it was a thin cut of meat. Make a thicker steak!
Main problem where the sides. The baked potato was piping hot, but I didn't want one. No choice. The vegetable medly of snow peas and broccoli was just not good. It had an asian flavor and if I wanted asian vegetables, I'd go to a different restaurant.
The vibe in there is great and the service jolly decent except that the table was not set properly."

"We have been to Boca many times and it never disappoints. We always go for the "early bird" special, and it is truly a bargain for soup or salad, entree and a brownie sundae for dessert. The pickles are delicious, and the sauces for the meat are tasty. This is our go to restaurant in northern Marin County. The restaurant runs specials all the time, so it's a good idea to get on their mailing list."

"We have been there on several occasions, sometimes just for a cocktail and the great Happy Hour specials. Last Wednesday was a night like no other. We had a drink in the bar first, then went to our table. It wasn't in the middle of the room, but tucked against the wall, kind of out of the way, perfect! One problem, the restaurant was soooo loud we couldn't stay in the room. Any thought of talking was way out of the question. We asked to move back to the bar, yes the bar was quieter than the restaurant.
The service was "bar service", acceptable, but not like getting the full treatment, plus we kept spilling the liquids on the table as it was rocking back and forth due to a problem with the legs. Tough night, not one of our best."

"Great food, great service. The leg of lamb was cooked just right with not too much sauce, other diners had ciopino, pasta and steak - everyone's plates were cleaned! Very different but delicious Cosmo before dinner, red wine flight during dinner, were the perfect choices. We met visiting out of town friends and had a lot of catching up to do. Our waiter was very patient and understanding."

"LOVE this place and it's my go to place for special occassions and for business meetings. They are usually very accommodating in terms of trying to place you in a quieter spot in the restaurant when requested. The wait staff is attentive, pleasant and knowlegeable.
As for food the steaks are top rate - honestly I never have anything else. They always arrive perfectly cooked. The marscapone/lemon/butter/sour cream mixture on the baked potato is lucious and a totally treat. The only drawback here is that the veggies on the plate are always pretty awful. If you go when they serve the roasted beet salad, GET IT! It's fabulous and one of my favorite things I have ever eaten. Lastly, NO open table point here! Really too bad"

"Sadly, as a regular user of and reviewer on OpenTable, this is my first negative OpenTable review. We were looking forward to a special birthday dinner, so my husband and I decided to order the house specialty "El Gaucho" dry aged steak for two. For $66 we expected a delicious and plentiful dinner for two. The steak came with the bone, 7 pieces that were about 1/4"x3"x1.25" and an end piece. This may have been a filling dinner for one person but not for two. We both thought that it was skimpy and as an ex-server, I got the feeling that someone in the kitchen had eaten from our plate. The steak was so charred on the outside that that was all you could taste -- char. If you go, skip the "El Gaucho""

"Our first time there in December was fine, although none of us liked the desserts all that much. This time was also good, although my ribeye was tough and had a lot of hard gristle. I dont like having to spit out any part of my meal onto a side plate. The rest of my family had an overall good experience, but only a 75% success rate (3 out of 4) on the meat is not a good sign."

"We have been to Boca many times and enjoyed delicious food, good service and a fine time. This time (for te firs time) we ordered the 28-DAY DRY- AGED, Gaucho Steak 30 oz. Bone-in Ribeye which Serves Two Persons. We tought this would be a treat. We ordered it medium rare and it was pretty darn red, but that was ok with us. The issue was that the meat was tough and grisly and rather unpleasant to eat. It was flavorful, but we threw out about 1/2 of it as unchewable.
We were both pretty surprised, bu I usually order fish, which is consistently delicious. I guess I won't be ordering meat here again. I assume that this was an anomoly, and we did no complain or send it back, which maybe we should have. Oh, well."

"I ordered the linguini and seafood. What I got was a poor version of one of my favorite meals. The linguini was over cooked. The mussels and clams were very small and not too many. The sauce was bland. All in all a less than satisfactory meal. My wife had ribs and they were very good. Based on our experience I would order meat and not seafood."

"It was lovely but WAY TOO LOUD! we could not hear each other and there were only 3 of us, so although we normally love it (not usually reserved under my name but the birthday boy is a regular), we left as soon as we could because it was too noisy (so $230.00 was a lot of money for such a quick dinner for 3). And we came for the Prime Rib and it was sold out.
we had assumed outdoors was full or could have requested it, so maybe offer it to people as you seat them mentioning it is quieter. It was not the party in the room near us that was so loud, it was the entire indoor area!"

"Boca continues to be our "go to" spot for special occasions. We like trying new places, but we've made Boca our favorite. The ribeye and filet mignon were perfect. As were the plated sides. We ordered the jalepeno creamed corn - again - it was great. We started with a basket of two chicken and two zucchini empanadas. We shared the iceberg wedge and butternut squash soup.Everything was great! The only downside - we didn't have enough room for dessert.
I can't say enough about the service. Our waitress was friendly, personable, really knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and always seemed to show up at our table at just the right moment. Same with the bus boy. He was just as friendly and very, very, personable.

"Boca was, frankly, a knockout. Looking for a nice place to celebrate a 50th birthday, we wavered between Boca and another option, and I couldn't be more pleased with our choice. The food was terrific, and befitting of a venue that prides itself on its steaks and grill, the filet mignon was out of this world. The Wagu steak (on special) was even better. The charred broccolini with lemon was a delicious starter, the wine choices were of good quality, and the service was friendly, professional, and knowledgable."

"Boca Steak has always been one of our favorite "special occasion" restaurants in Novato. Other guests must feel the same as there were about three other groups celebrating their birthdays. Take advantage of the early bird dinner specials from 5-6:30pm known as "Prix Fixe" where you get a three course meal for $24.95. You can't go wrong with either the Marinated Half boneless Chicken, 8 oz Hanger Steak or Linguine with Prawns. Our favorite side dishes are George's Duck Fat Fries and the Jalepeno Creamed corn. There is a nice wine list with local Sonoma/Napa wines as well as some nice Central Valley and Argentinian choices. Undecided on wine? "I had the cioppino. It was mostly stewed tomatoes and several tiny meatless mussels, and four overcooked prawns. Kind of dissappointing, as I was looking forward to crab chunks and succulent cubes of whitefish, you know, CIOPPINO. Others had the swordfish and seemed to like it"

"Food here is consistently great. Fresh, flavorful, and well presented. Servings are generous. Known for its great steak, the fish is just as awesome.
