"I went on an amazing first date here. It was easy to talk and I did not feel like I needed to yell over music or poor acoustics. The food and service were great"

"We went for Mothers Day & to celebrate my son's birthday. Food was great & served in a timely way. Our favorite dishes are the spicy green beans & chicken panang curry - both wonderfully spiced!"

"We've been here many times, but this time wasn't so great. Maybe it's because we went later on a weeknight, but everything was just a little off. Our server was overly attentive at first, then non-existent when we needed her most and then, as-to-be-expected, very attentive just before the check was presented. Don't get me wrong, she was very helpful when asked. At least 5 employees walked by my fork that had fallen on the floor... I picked it up so none of them would trip on it. Our server finally came back and replaced it... when she took our dessert order! To top off the evening, my daughter's ice cream filled mochi were served on a piping-hot plate, so they were 3/4 melted by the time they got to the table... that was a special touch."

"Our server, April, was excellent. She was very attentive and helpful. The Stir Fry bar was fantastic as was the Teriyaki Glazed Salmon. We tried the dumplings and BBQ ribs for appetizers and was very satisfied. The raspberry lemonade was great and the doughnuts were a perfect way to complete the meal - a must have!"

"Service as good but could have been better. The place is darker than it needs to be. We sat at a table across from the kitchen area in the main dining room. There was a cloud of smoke hanging over the place."

"Big Bowl is one of my favorite places. The food is really fresh and delicious. Healthy too, as in brown rice instead of white and lots of veggies. The flavors are complex without being perplexing. The service is attentive. Guess what? Half price drafts on Sunday!"

"Potstickers were a very good appetizer. Very disappointing entrees. Had the Kung Pao chicken, and it was really over salted/soyed. Really disappointed. Did not return it, just didn't eat much of it. Tried one of the dishes of my friends and it was also way over salted (Beef and Broccoli). Also mai tais were terrible. Sent the pitcher back and the one that came back was mediocre at best. It was my first time eating at Big Bowl and I was really looking forward to it.
Won't go out of my way to go back at all.
On a good note, the server was accomodating with the mai tais and overall his services was good."

"We ordered dinner for 5. We were not far into the course when the next course came. We felt too rushes and were constantly moving plates around to accomodate the additional playes. We all agreed that we would never do that again"

"Gathering with friends, made for a good night of celebration. The appetizer (egg rolls) were good. My main meal was Okay. (Nothing to write home about) the dessert was excellent and I am not a dessert eater."

"We always enjoy the food and service at the Big Bowl. This time we tried a couple of new dishes - the steamed vegetable dumplings (very good) and the chicken salad, which came with a choice of shredded chicken or satay chicken skewers. I chose the satay chicken and it was excellent. My fiance had the pad thai with salmon, and he loved it. We were celebrating his birthday, and our server gave him his choice of a dessert. He picked the honey apple crisp, which was very good as well. It was sweeter than I would have made it and we could really taste the honey. They no longer had the riesling that I used to order, but the sauvignon blanc was good, too. Our server, Apple, was great - we've had her before. We'll ask for her again."

"We moved to IL last summer and this is the only restaurant we have gone to more than once, and have taken nearly all our visitors!! We relocated here after spending 4 years in Shanghai and we find the Asian food here really good!"

"This was not our first time at Big Bowl, and we were surprisingly disappointed. The food was so-so, the service was good, but the loudness in the dining area was way too much for us. The hostesses were not very friendly, as well. A big disappointment for a date night out that we were hoping to be a memorable experience. We will not be back."

"I would recommend for people looking for a place where you don't have to be quiet. Definitely not romantic or quiet for an intimate conversation. Food was average to good. Had the Asian chicken salad which was good. My guest had noodle dishes that were not memorable or finished. Nothing special but would go back again. Service okay."

"Kung Pao Chicken is the best dish here in my opinion, lots of chilies so very hearty flavor. My friend was sweating, yet we both very much enjoyed the dish."

"The place was great and so was the food, but the server was not at the same level. Some of us were missing napkins/forks/knives and the server did not notice anything. She was not paying attention to what the guests needed. She did not pay attention to the water and we had to ask for water. She seemed not to pay to much attention to our table."

"Fresh, tasty Asian food and solid service. Never feels like you are eating at a chain. Just one minor issue, servers should offer a gluten free menu with your drink order. It's a time saver!"

"I met with a group of friends and even with our reservation being for six, they seated us when three showed up and didn't give us any hassles. We had a continuous supply of refills and they were always courteous when approaching us. It was a great night and the time just flew by."

"I have a monthly lunch date with a girlfriend and we eat here every time. We order the monthly food/drink specials menu every time. Their recommendations are always perfect to share without leaving feeling overstuffed. We love eating at the bar as its casual and friendly, and they have those handy little hooks for your bag. Don't change a thing!"

"We had never been to Big Bowl. I wanted to celebrate the Chinese New Year and wanted to go to a nearby restaurant. I was very happy with both the service and the food at Big Bowl. The Blood Orange Margaritas were terrific, as were the shrimp/pork dumplings. Everyone in our party of four ordered something different from the menu, and all of us were satisfied with our food."

"Overall this is a great place to eat... They have a good gluten free menu and the service was fun and upbeat. The Schuamburg location is right next to the movie theater and a gaming place making for a convenient date night location.
Price was reasonable but ceratinly not cheap, good vibe/eneregy to the place and the staff was really friendly and fun."

"I decided to have my 21st birthday here cause i heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, but unfortunately i have to say i was not pleased with my experience there. I had nine of my vlosest friends come and we have other plans after dinner but we could not go anywhere cause by the time we were done it was too late at night. Since there were nine of us, the server told us she can't give us seperate checks because the system will crash. Figuring out who will pay with who took about an hour maybe more. And also she charged one of my friends more than what she owed. It took us longer to figure out the checks than it did for us to eat. I liked the food but not the service. I was very disappointed. P.s. the server we had was very rud"

"We were seated immediately and my request for a booth was honored!!!! Our waiter was every attentive immediately! He told my husband about the beer that was 1/2 off that night and even brought him a sample. Our date nights are so rare that a bad restaurant or movie experience could put a damper on our while night so I am grateful that Big Bowl is always a pleasant experience for us! Thank you Big Bowl for making our night so special EVERYTIME!!"

"I had the shrimp and scallop dish. Neither in the column to the left of the entre nor in its description did it mention that this was hot, and I mean HOT. This is my first and last time at Big Bowl. Perhaps this is understood among regulars but should be marked for those of us that do not tolerate HOT food and wish to taste our food rather than anesthetize our taste buds. I ended up eating only the shrimp and scallops, and should have mentioned to the server who was nice but did not question me till I had set my plate aside unfinished, and then told me I should have mentioned smoething. Only then did she say she could have gotten me something else. In essence the problem lies with the menu."
