Bombay Club Restaurant & Martini Bistro
Our lovely facility is decorated in a plush British theme, with overstuffed leather wingback chairs, rich wood, and fine portraits. In addition, we feature nightly jazz—and our excellent Nouveau Creole cuisine has won accolades from justifiably renowned local reviewers Tom Fitzmorris and Brett Anderson. Zagat called us “a civilized class act in the heart of the French Quarter.” Our restaurant just won Sante Magazine’s “Best Restaurant Bar in the Southeast,” and we’re featured in Travel and Leisure Magazine as one of designer Michael Kors’ favorite places in New Orleans. Our bar is renowned for over 100 creative specialty martinis, and we offer a beautiful small courtyard filled with plants and a fountain.

"Very disappointed in the food and ambience. We had been told it had one of the best pork chops in town. that is no longer on the menu, service was slow and we had to look at the bar from our table. Food was OK not poor but not wow."

"I booked a private booth for an outing with my friend, who flew to NOLA to go out with me. We pushed the rezzie 2.5 hours so we could go see Kermit i@ Jazz in the Park. Due to the late hour, I decided on champagne, appetizers and dessert--my fave parts of a meal. We ordered 3 appetizers: The seafood fondue, the oyster dish, & the third was friend calamari. We did not care for the sweet sauce on the Calamari, but the other two dishes were stellar. I also got a rather bizarre cocktail of Absinthe and Champagne, which I do not recommend. My creme' brulee with berries was fabulous. As was my glass of champagne (sans absinthe). Couples sit on one bench beside each other, so you can feed each other & snuggle...just the most romantic setting!"

"I was in town for just a few days on business. I choose this restaurant remembering my experience a year ago. The service was excellent. My guests loved the food and the choice of Martinis. The restaurant has romantic booths but for my event there are a section that was just right for my meeting of 6 guests. I will come back next year!"

"We loved the atmosphere in the draped booth. Everything we ordered was perfect: pate', calamari, seafood platter and filet were equally delicious and some of the best we've ever had. The martini list was extensive and ours were yummy (Breathless for the chocolate lover and Negroni for someone who like Campari). Soft music added to the atmosphere. Expensive but worth it!"

"A great restaurant that my girlfiend and I loved as soon as we walked in. The whole feeling of the place was very laid back and relaxed and the drinks and food were amazing. I was very pleased with the selection of single malts and my girlfriend loved the martinis. My only problem was for not being very crowded I felt pretty rushed by my server. He wasn't rude at all but for what I paid for our meal I got the impression that he was trying to push us out the door. Still I would love to go back and would recommend it to anyone else."

"As someone who has eaten several times at the Bombay Club when in town, we were extremely disappointed in our most recent experience. The food was fabulous as always, but wait service and a nearby group ruined the experience. A table close to ours had an individual carry on a loud, profanity-laden rant for most of our visit. Efforts to get the staff to re-seat them or us were unsuccessful. If I wanted to hear someone complaining this much about their business and acquaintances, I'd go eat in the office canteen. It would have been a better idea to just stop at the bar; at least that way you could hear the live entertainment."

"Maybe for an older couple this is OK. We are a younger coupleand this was recommended. The restaurant was pretty open at 7:30 with no music and was a little depressing. We ordered the Calamari app with a couple martinis. Drinks were expensive but tasted OK. App was edible at best. Then we had a couple salads which were over-priced and plain. We left before ordering entrees and my Birthday dinner was saved at Mr. B's thankfully......"

"A great way to end a perfect day. The secluded table was ideal for my wife and I during our visit while celebrating our 2 year anniversary. The staff was incredibly insightful and the atmosphere had just the right touch near the end of our romantic evening. The food, drinks, and music was great and provided us with a new experience in New Orleans. One that will surely mean a return visit."

"Overall the Food, Service and ambiance was great. The noise level got a little high at times but not enough to put a damper on the night. However, I was a bit surprise with the dress attire of the dinning customers. I personally contacted the Bombay Club to inquire on the dress attire, I was told the dress attire was dressy casual. Customers was wearing shorts and athletic shoes with and without socks. This was a little disappointing to me at the least."

"Came here while in New Orleans. This is a hidden gem. So happy to have asked for a table not next to the bar since the bar scene got a bit loud. We were in a room off to the side. The food selection was great. The waitress was very attentive and was constantly refilling the water glasses - good for our family. She also brought extra bread after she heard our group state how much they loved it. From the appetizers to dessert it was a great dining experience."

"This was our first time to dine here. Nicole was our waitress. We loved the service, the food, the ambience, and especially the Martinis. Our group had several different ones, so most of us were able to try several different types. I hope that they keep the special dessert martini called "the strawberry shortcake martini" as my wife just loved it. Definitely looking forward to our next stop at this spot."

"Went for late dinner. Had a young server who was nice but lacked some professionalism. Ordered a bottle of wine but they were out so went with another choice not on the wine list. Told they were out of the usual bread so we got another bread in our basket. Very stale and tasteless. Seafood bisque was ok, but relatively little flavor. Special watermelon salad also just ok. Didn't have enough watermelon to offset very sour dressing. The hit of the night was the blackened redfish on the half shell. This was memorable and accounts for the 4 star food rating. Lounge act was kind of sad. Reasonably decent musicians with older women who couldn't sing. We had one of the booths looking out on the bar so the who scene was like watching old movie."

"Our waiter introduced himself by giving the history of having been only a bar....they should have left it that way. Small menu, my calamari appetizer was undercooked and cold. The main course was flavorless. The bar was loud and we couldn't hear ourselves talk.
My only recommendation on this place would be to grab a drink and listen to the band"

"My husband and I dined at The Bombay Club on 5-5-13. We absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was very romantic and peaceful. There is a small area for the musician (that night he played the saxophone, trumpet, and he sang as well!). The food was delicious, we both ordered the ribeye with a twice baked potato. Very tasty! I ordered a glass of wine (white riesling), and my husband ordered a "skinny peach on the beach." They both were good, but I liked my husbands better, so we switched. :)
The service was very satisfactory, and overall, we were very pleased. We will be returning very soon!!"

"We were original recommended to go to Bombay Club Restaurant by a friend who said they do a knock out Martini there. We were visiting from the UK and travelled down the USA from Minniapolis, Chicago, St Louis, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson and finally staying for 8 days in New Orleans.
This restaurant was the by a country mile the best we restaurant we ate in on our whole journey. The food was to die for, The Martini's were fantastic and the service was superb. Our waiter was helpful, informative and never kept us waiting. The ambience was lovely, with soft jazz playing in the background. Somewhere we will come back to when we return to N.O."

"We arrived on time for our 8:30 reservation on May 4. There were a few people seated at the bar, but for the most part the place was empty. We were made to wait at the door almost twenty minutes before we were seated. When the hostess finally greeted us she said that our table was not ready. The place was EMPTY and all of the tables were set except the one they wanted to seat us in!?! It was very awkward and uncomfortable. It was obvious that we were not that important to them and that they were not prepared for us at all. We were not walk-ins, we had long standing reservations that I confirmed earlier in the day. No apologies or excuses were given - it was disgraceful. It was so bad that it didn't matter how good the food or service were."

"Fantastic. We were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary. I requested a cozy area. We were placed in a small 'booth' with curtains. SO much privacy. It was very nice. The staff (Nicole) was attentive and helpful in our choices. If you drink Martinis there is a full 10+ page book of drinks and the history of 'Martinez". I will definitely recommend this restaurant. They have a live band playing. It was a great anniversary dinner."

"I had my birthday celebration at this restaurant and truly enjoyed myself. I had a group of 10 that included family, friends and colleagues ranging in age from 30-60. They all had a great time. The jazz band was fantastic and my waiter encouraged them to serenade me. I felt extremely special!"

"The food wasn't "bad," but this is more a place for the drinks and music. I liked the salads very much. The quail was fried, but I don't think the menu mentioned this--sort of a waste of a nice bird. Loved the splits of Tatty and Vueve."

"Bombay is a nice place but they certainly pull in a specific demographic. If you want to find a nice quiet place to have dinner and avoid the crowds, Bombay is for you. They have a much older clientele and I would suggest this place for the 50+ crowd. Any younger and you really feel out of place. Also pretty dusty in some spots. Could use a good cleaning.

"What can I say. We went expecting mediocre food and poor service based on the many reviews we read and what our hotel concierge warned us. But we loved the look of the atmosphere -- looking for something quieter, private table, and nice jazz. There didn't seem to be another choice. Well we got a wonderful private booth (almost a room) and the jazz was indeed very nice. But the food and service were both even worse than expected. How sad. This could be a wonderful place."

"We had a delicious dinner and heard Lillian Boutte sing on a Saturday night - a classic nightclub experience. The dishes were all very good, but our server had a little trouble early in our visit and there was a very long delay between ordering and receiving our bottle of wine. On the plus side, she did give my wife very good advice on the order in which the three starters that made up her meal should come out, and she was attentive after the early problem. We will definitely return."

"We arrived early and got one of the private curtained booths, unfortunately the one with a perfect view of the service area. No matter. We didn't want to be too close to the musicians (who were very good!) as it was to be a romantic dinner for us. The martinis were excellent, the filet was perfectly cooked, and the blackened redfish was delicious. The ambiance was very pleasant, except for a brief moment of altercation between the manager and our waiter. The large bar is in the center of the room with tables surrounding it on 3 sides. There isn't a dress code as it's part of the hotel, so folks were dressed from jackets and ties to shorts and flip flops. Again, no matter. Go here, you will enjoy it!"

"It was not up to my expectations. The food was nice and tasty. The menu is limited, though I'll agree it had one example of each basic entree group. The service was slow. The young lady that seated us forgot to return my parking voucher; fortunately I remembered it as we were leaving. The appearance is not up to the prices -- the wall beside our table appeared to be a sheet of linoleum! It is not tightly run; our table lacked salt and pepper shakers, for example, and though we asked for more bread, it never arrived. I'll guess their main business is their bar scene."

"Service was horrible. Had to wait 20 minutes to get seated with tables open and we had a reservation! Very understaffed. Took 10 minutes to get a bottle of wine to the table once ordered. Owner/manager just lurked around and did not help the shorthanded staff at all.
The food was delicious, but won't go back for a while with the service. They made it harder than it should have been."

"We felt our food was very well prepared & the server was very attentive however we were a little surprised by the limited size of the menu. We did not see that the cocktails were as elaborately garnished as advertised on the website or that the resturant was nearly as large as it appeared on the website. Although we were prompt and dressed as "preferred" per the website, the hostess' greeting made us feel more dismissed than walk-ins and fearful that our reservation was not going to be honored - we understood that we may have to wait for a while for a table to become available since our reservation was later (8:30pm). The table we ended up with however was beautiful - in a private nook with a curtain."

"To be honest I was very disappointed. My service was awful and slow. My waitress didn't seem to know anything. It took her 25 minutes to greet us at the table and another 20 minutes to bring us water. At this point we asked her if she was ready to take our order. She took the drink order, put it in but still hadn't asked about food It took 26 minutes to get the stinks. Now I'm at the table for over an hour no appretizer no bread nothing. Finally again I ask her when do you plan on taking my food order and I asked if they had bread, crackers or something as we are all hungry and about to leave. She said oh I'm sorry would you like some garlic bread. I says yes I had a party of 10 using two tables and she brought on basket of bread."

"We had a very good experience at the Bombay Club. It was a little on the pricey side, but the food was good, the service was good, and we enjoyed the live music. BTW, we had the calamari, the drum, the duck, and the creme brulee, as well as some cocktails. Rob was our server and he was friendly. We sat at a table near the piano, and the seats were such that you would sink into them and then the table seemed very high, so avoid those seats if you are short or would not like that."

"We enjoyed the restaurant. It had a cool old fashioned ambience, was unique and special, romantic and the service was excellent. However, while the food was good, I didn't think it was amazing and was very expensive. The menu is small but everything on it sounded good. "Had a very nice time! The live music was nice, though from where we were seated we couldn't see the band. The tables where one is able to see the band also seem to be much louder and less private, so it's a trade off. The food really was quite good. In any other city it would have probably gotten 5 stars from me, but the competition here is stiff and while it was good and I have no complaints, there are a few places in this price range in the are that I think are just a little bit better. I don't drink alcohol, but the drinks list was very impressive and the drinks that I saw go out looked equally impressive. I would definitely recommend giving this place a shot!"

"We stopped in on a Wednesday night because we were starving and they took care of us wonderfully. We started with the calamari, which are addictive. They were out of the fish of the day, so I got the drum, which though fried, was delicious. My friends both got steaks - the ribeye and the filet - and those were also incredible. Upon returning, I'll probably have to get a steak! Our server Felicia was so sweet - she had actually been our server before and was lovely both times. Also, its worth mentioning (if you don't already know) that they have one of the most comprehensive bar menus around."
