Osteria la Buca is located on Melrose Ave, two blocks East of Paramount Studios on the edge of Hollywood. We celebrate the gift that is Southern California produce and grass roots Italian cooking. We have a focused list of Italian and California wines and offer a full bar specializing in boutique spirits from around the world. All of our pastas are prepared on premise daily. We represent handmade, local and farm fresh traditions. We welcome all to gather around our tables.
"The food was delicious but heavy. The gelato was delicious! It was definitely more low key than I was anticipating, but it was still a nice place with good food. I would recommend Osteria La Buca. The staff is friendly... perhaps a bit too friendly. The bar tender was nice but a bit too engaging in our conversation. Very nice though. If possible I would recommend sitting in their upstairs area... I liked the feel. It is open to the outside though so bring a jacket if you get cold!"

"We had a lovely experience at this restuarant. Great to have it in our neighborhood. The food was very good and regular pricey. The manager (?) was very sweet to us. The waiter was effiecient (if a little overly attentive). The drinks were also good. We had a great time."

"I love the atmosphere of this place. Large windows and exposed brick. Seemed very urban without being too trendy. Our service was top-notch. Friendly, efficient and attentive. Loved the fusilli with lentils and truffle oil. The Brussel Sprouts were among the best I've had on this cruciferous veggie of the moment. Our only complaint was the beet and Burrata salad. Beets seemed sprinkled with sugar - a little too sweet and wholly unnecessary. Would like to return again with girlfriends for a night out!"

"The Classic pizza was one of the best "plain" pizzas I've had. Really great cheeses used on that. The special Osso Buco on a bed of risotto was out of this world. A fantastic pairing. The space had a very nice, high ceiling and it probably helped reduce the noise level down from similar types of restaurants. Service was prompt and attentive. I highly recommend Osteria La Buca as my friends and I were beaming afterwards."

"Our second visit to Osteria La Buca and it did not disappoint us. Great food and very nice and attentive service with a hip vibe. I travel to LA 3 or 4 times per year and my wife and I always stop at La Buca. The croquettes are fantastic !!! Definietly a place to go for a nice comfortable dinner in cool surroundings.. Carmen our waitress was sweet and gave us great recomendations.."

"First time at Osteria La Buca. Will be back. Close to downtown. Cool interior. We sat upstairs. Very open and bright. Food was very good. Shared several items including brussel sprouts, steak and pasta. Dessert was excellent but huge. Took a lot home. Give this place a shot - you won't be disappointed."

"Had a great time here. Unfortunately the upstairs was closed for seating. Downstairs the seating is a little close to one another but other than that a great place to dine!"

"Food was great, atmosphere great, service was spot on. The waitress asked if we were on a schedule (which we were) and made sure we were served as soon as possible. THAT is impressive and greatly appreciated."

"It was a great dinner. We had to eat on the early side, so I really can't comment on what a lively scene it was, but it was very energetic by the time we left. The fireplace upstairs is a really nice touch. The room upstairs could use a bit more decor, that's all."

"Had a great first experience here. We got to sit upstairs with an awesome view of the ground floor dining area and a peek at the street. I lived close by and just recently moved.. and of course came back. The menu is great; not too extensive and from our experience, it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. Bottles of wine are affordable whether with a small or large group. The meatballs were a ridiculously delicious surprise. Pizzas are great... pasta, fresh and light.
Will be coming back more often!"

"Service was spot on. Waiter or bus person was always close by, but never intrusive. Food was excellent! Antipasti were Ricotta Crochettes, smooth with slighly sweet nutty flavor and Salumi with a lightly smokey, tender, panchetta cotta, a mildly sweet fra'mani nostrana and a perfect proscuitto san danielle. 4 different entrees with 4 satisfied diners and a special shout out for the Rigatoni with braised lamb. Dolci was a beautifully light, amazingly flavored, melt in your mouth Tiramisu, that was perfectly split between 2."

"Always a great time at this place. The food is always delicious + the service is phenom! I take all of my friends here and we've never left unhappy. Sunday night Carmen kindly took care of us after getting in from a very long Oscar viewing party! Street parking is always easly found but you can valet too.
"Our first time to Osteria La Buca and we were thoroughly impressed. A bit of a rustic atmostphere but still hip and cool. We were greated with a warm welcome as we were late for our valentines day reservation due to traffic. Started with the Ricotta Croquettes which are a must while we both enjoyed the dinner specials. I had the seafood risotto which was to die for. A great evening and I have to say one of my all time favorite meals. When I am in LA again, I will be back."

"Very unique food and fun environment. A little loud for a conversation at points but overall had a great ambiance. The menu and wine list offered many options and I loved the short rib ravoli."

"The $7 valet service charge seemed extreme - maybe in Beverly Hills but not East Hollywood. Also we sat at the bar and the pizza we ordered was not prepared correctly. The bartender gave us alot of attitude when we asked to have it remade. It was not the "please the customer" type of response we would have expected from such a highly regarded restaurant. The tables are also too close together for any kind of private conversation; that is why I opted to sit at the bar. Also the music was too loud, it was not background noise it was dominating the"

"i had a bday dinner with a friend. had never been before. the app brussell sprouts were amazing. short rib ravioli was also simple but good. the service started out excellent and then became non-existant. he literally disappeared before our entrees came. never checked back until we had to wave him over to get my friend another drink, and by that time we were already done with our entrees. when he brought the drink he brought dessert menus but we gave him a CC cause we wanted to get to our next spot. from that point it took at least 30 minutes before we went out the door. part of this was because the server was slammed. part was because they sent a scoop of ice cream for my bday, which was nice. but i left feeling forgotten and rushed."

"Location is deceiving. You wouldn't think a nice Italian restaurant would be where this place is...but believe it! Menu's a bit limited, but what's on it is good. Try the grilled romaine salad--very tasty. Service is friendly. Would also come back to try the party area upstairs--looked like fun!"

"We were pleasantly surprised at the inventive, creative, delicious, hot, food served the two of us. We had the beet salad with an excellent and huge burrata cheese, a plain salad,,, pizza and a huge bowl of fusilli pasta, way enough for 2, with vegetables. Everything had a bit of a unique flavor, the dressing for the salad, so simple, but just right, the sauce for the pasta, good balsamico, way too big portions, and we even shared a tiramisu which was 4-5"square. It really ranks very good plus. It is noisy...all glass and dark, but we were the eldest there! Can't wit to go back."
