"This was our first time at Ruth Chris. I got the Ribeye, and my husband go Sea Bass. The Ribeye was amazing! However, because noting else comes with it, we didn't know what to order as sides, so we ended up going with Shoestring Fries. Not the best :( They were dry and hard to eat. The waiter was not very helpful and talked down to us. He kept on reminding us that NOTHING came with the food, and that we have to order sides separately, almost insinuating that we were stupid and poor. His service really ruined the night for us. Again, since he didn't recommend anything, we left feeling like it was an incomplete dinner.
I'm glad I tried Ruth Chris, as I heard so much about it, but this is most probably my first and last time."

"Nice place & top-shelf cuisine but, compared to our 'go-to' restaurant - La Castile - we spent about $75 more for three of us, based on what we usually order. This is because of the 'a-la-cart' structure. $55 for a rib-steak, plus, plus, etc...
At La Castile, the same steak is $46 (16oz), includes salad & side. Plus, the ambiance at La Castile is amazing!!
I'd love to be back, but only if it's on a Gift Card...(lol)"

"My sisters and I went to Ruth's Chris Steak House for the first time on Friday May 10, 2013 with our mother to celebrate Mother's Day. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! Upon entereing the restaurant it was a little quiet and intimidating however once we were seating our server Anthony did a great job making us feel comfortable and relaxed. No need to worry about our noise level at all.
Started dinner with appetizer and I must say the Voodoo Shrimp were amazing a big hit at our table as was the Calamari.
Steaks, well what can be said but perfection!
However I must say the creme brulee is some of the best creme brulee that I have tried outside of Paris. Light creamy just heavenly.
Will definitely be back to try more dishes."

"Soup and salad were great. Steak was not, it is decent, but not for that price. All 3 of us ordered medium rare, mine turned out fine in that regard, but the other two were more like medium. The top and bottom of mine was burnt. Also, all 3 side dishes were very bland. The worse being the creamed spinach, which was quite watery. The manager came and ask on how everything was, we just told him about the spinach and he saw that right away, watery. He was nice enough to comp us any desert on menu instead of cheesecake only per our prix fixe. This is definitely the worse in terms of food quality when compare to other Ruth's Chris (Toronto, Chicago) and Morton's (various ones in Chicago, SF)."

"Ruth's Chris is known for their steaks and they delivered on the reputation. However my New York strip loin was a little overlooked for medium rare. I also thought the sides were just ok. Overall the prices are much too high $55 for a steak, $10 for potatoes au gratin which were literally 1 large cooked potato cut into 6 slices and with creamy sauce and cheese on top. The $10 for onion rings was also steep but I have to admit that it was different to have the extra wide rings and stacked like a flat pyramid."

"This was my first time and I brought a group of 5 to surprise my fiancee for her birthday. When I booked I had mentioned it was a surprise for her birthday and that she is pregnant, it seems none of this was relayed to the staff as the one at reception blew the surprise by mentioning that we were a group of 5 and the waiter didn't know it was a birthday or that she was pregnant. Either way they did bring out a dessert after we had our dessert to celebrate. A little redundant though. All in all we enjoyed the food, steaks were a little over done but delicious nonetheless."

"The bar was quiet and warm and comfortable and larger dining area we found to be chilly, loud and were seated at the far back where the kitchen was.This past weekend we took another couple and were seated in a smaller dining area which was nicer than the larger. "We've been here many times before and not had any issues. Until now. What left a sour taste with us was having to wait over 30 minutes for a booth we RESERVED. When I placed the reservation I requested a booth. When we arrived at our reserved time, the Maitre d' informed us that all the booths were currently occupied but that we could have a table right away. I told her that when I placed the reservation a few days in advance and specifically requested a booth. She said "it's first come first served for booths". I said then what's the point of making a reservation. No answer, just attitude. 1/2 our later we had a booth. If you can't fill my request, fine. Send me an email well before I arrive; don't tell me at the door. Never again."

Restaurant needs updated decor. It's currently drab and boring. My waiter had a thick Italian accent, spoke to fast and was hard to understand and the poor guy seemed rushed since he had to wait on so many tables. His anxiety did not allow us to relax fully.

In addition, our server gave us the wrong orders..I had ask a filet mignon chicago style med. rare and I got very well done, they also made a mistake on my husband' order, they had also forgot one of our side dish.
Would not go back, and there is other places for a good steak without the ridiculous price. For that kind of money I would prefer going to Morton's or Harbour Sixty for a treat!"

"We go to Ruth's Chris a few times a year for special family celebrations. The food is always excellent as is the service. The wine list is also very reasonably priced. We have been visiting this gem of aplace for many years and will continue to so for many more."

"The steak was absolutely delicous. It just melted in my mouth. The Cesar salad was also good. The mashed potatos were delicous and quite plentifull. The desert of Chocolate pie was also quite good. My daugter said that her shrimp were also quite delicous. Her desert of black forest pie was delicious. The wine was also good."

"Ruth's Chris does boast outstanding steak and is overall a good experience. However their other items are ho hum at best. The bread was not terribly fresh, the soup was not good, and neither was the salad. At their prices they should have dishes made in store, with homemade croutons and slices of Parmesan etc. Instead it was all prepackaged, standard fare as one might see in a low priced chain restaurant.
Their prices are sky high for assembly line quality items. But, the steak is quite good, which is pretty much the only reason to go.
If I want to drop $300 on dinner, I think I'm going to a real restaurant like Auberge instead next time."

"I'll start by saying that the food and staff were great!
Decided to take the GF for her first time on Valentine's day. I was unaware that there was a Valentine's Day prix fixe menu until I got there. While it was good, I wanted her to experience a true a-la-carte outing, where we could order multiple items and basically create our own tasting menu. They did not have anything but the prix fixe menu prepared so they could not accommodate. The food was excellent, though! The wait staff made up for any menu shortcomings with a great fun-loving attitude."

"I just find Ruth's very expensive to dine at, other than a once a year special occasion type of night, otherwise I would not dine there from time to time. My husband and enjoyed ourselves and the food was really good but NOT worth the almost $200 we spent and on top of that we were there for the prime time menu. We'd rather go to the keg and spend half that. The food is just as good if not better"

"Terrible food. The bill came to $250 and the steak was no better than what you would buy from Metro. I ordered it MR and it got to the table R, I sent it back and the cook had but it back in the oven where it was burnt on the bottom touching the plate, it came back to me WD. I understand the difference between grill marks and burnt and this steak was chewy. Very disappointing. I have had better steak at the Keg and for about half the price. Good service, the waiter was never in the way and only spoke to us when necessary, which I appreciate when trying to enjoy a meal. Bad ambiance, for paying $250, I wanted to be sold on the culture of the steak house. It looked like a converted office building with little personality and grey walls."

My preference is the downtown Toronto location, as the diners tend to dress a little more appropriate for the price tag that accompanies dining at Ruth's Chris.
The only complaint I have is the lack of a dress code at the restaurant. If you want to charge $70.00 for a steak, then the guy beside me should not be wearing his touque all through dinner, no should the table across all be wearing jeans and hoodies."
