Myers + Chang is a funky indie diner setting offering Chef/Owner Joanne Chang and Christopher Myers's very personal interpretation of Chinese, Taiwanese, Thai, and Vietnamese specialties. At Myers + Chang, we focus on sourcing fresh, beautiful, local-when-possible ingredients, using lighter sauces, and giving you either fun and innovative takes on classic dishes, or creating new dishes that stay true to the flavors of the region.
We are inspired by Taiwanese soul food and Southeast Asian street food, all done with a great deal of care. It is a personal, sometimes loose interpretation, to be sure, but our criteria are simple: everything we make must be fresh, delicious, and addictive. We are passionate about sharing our love of this food with you.

"We really enjoy the small plate concept which allows you to try a large variety of the innovative twists they have on Chinese and Thai food. The service is very friendly and the dishes come out quickly. You can order a few.. tthen decide on if you'd like seconds or move on to try different dishes. It's a casual and fun place to eat. We'll be back!"

"I'm sorry it took me so long to get to Myers + Chang. I've admired Flour for some time now and kept meaning to make a res at Chef Chang's flagship resto. Finally had dinner there with my brother and we were so glad we did. So many Boston area restaurants claim to be asian fusion. But they're posers. For me, Myers + Chang and the recently opened Blue Dragon are the real deal. BTW, don't miss the grilled octopus with corn."

"I'm old school. I like Atlantic Fish Company , Aquitane and cheese burgers. I can be really hard on "trendy" Asian restaurants especially if they're overpriced. But this place is great! I've had the Hake twice. It is some of the best fish I've ever had. Date night is a bargain. And the Vanilla Bean Parfait dessert is just wonderful. My Wife Was Right Again."

"Didn't enjoy any of the 5 dishes we had. Scallion pancake was over salted, Pot Stickers were over fried (though i saw some going to other tables that looked a nice golden brown instead of dark brown to black), bok choy with ginger was greasy with an overpowering not tasty sauce, dan dan szechuan noodles were super greasy and over loaded with bean paste and the octopus with corn was greasy and too spicy to enjoy. And waiter was inattentive. Bummer."

"The service was very poor - the waiter messed up an order so 3 of 4 of us were eating while waiting for the 4th dish. When finally we commented that it had been a long time, the waiter said he would be it right in and then the head person came over defensively commenting that they only had 2 woks and our 4th person would need to wait. When we stated that since we had already been waiting 20 minutes after the rest of us were served so he should have a priority listing, we got a defensive answer in response. We asked for some extra hot oil, which arrived much later - just poor service all the way around. Food was good, but not worth the aggravation."

"Date night! One of my coworkers has been raving about Myers & Chang for months now and I had never been before so when it came to me picking a restaurant for my boyfriend and I to visit for a night out on the town, I immediately thought of this place and was so pleased (we both were)!
When we walked in, we both instantly commented on the decor and ambiance- it was a really cool vibe in there and reminded me of a place you might find in downtown NYC. We were seated right away (I made reservations days before) and our server came over and welcomed us promptly. Throughout the meal, our server was incredibly nice, patient, and helpful in offering her suggestions. Dinner was delicious! Definitely save room for desert, too. 100% worth it."

"Super crowded and rushed ambience. Food was great...best veggie chinese style food. Must try miso glazed carrots. Quick service, good customer service albeit you always had the feeling that they were in a rush. Would go again for sure..but not the most relaxing dinner experience. Also be prepared to wait a bit to be seated, even if you have a reservation. We were seated 20 minutes after reservation time. Makes you wonder why bother reserving a table. Other than that, great food will go back."

"The best meal we had in boston... a definate must try. If I lived in boston it would be my regular go to spot. Service was incredible. Who would have known it was our server's first day. "We went for dim sum on Sunday. It's not the same as dim sum in Chinatown proper, even though we were still in Chinatown. No ladies pushing carts here, and everyone speaks English. There was only 1 Asian person working in the restaurant so I admit I was a little worried, but several diners were Asian. The cocktails were excellent, with an Asian twist, and the dim sum was original,and had AMAZING flavors. This is high end dim sum at its best. I can't recommend this place enough!I'm looking forward to returning for dinner!"

"This was our first visit to Myers and Chang. We saw Joanne on an episode of "Simply Ming" with Ming Tsai on PBS and again on another cooking show (possibly Food Network) and said "We have to try this place"! The food is uncluttered, 4-5 ingredient based, and simply delicious. Being this was out first visit, we decided to order an appetizer or two, then, depending on those and how hungry we were, we would keep ordering...or not. We started with Mama Chang's pork dumplings - thin dumpling skins and the pure flavor or delicious pork were a huge hit. Then the airy, crispy scallion pancakes, then the fish tacos, and chicken and udon noodles were delectable treats. You MUST go here!!!"

"The fact that your table is ready at the time of your reservation already hits high marks. We ordered the following : scallion pancakes, pork bao buns, Mama Chan's dumplings, Korean BBQ sloppy joe and fried rice. Don't forget dessert ! House made coconut cream pie, yes the tart shell was hand made, and a vanilla cream with organge granita. Service was friendly, not overbearing, just the way we like it. "They brought the wrong order. Then They could not find our order. The food was ok but too spicy, specially the fried rice. When we ask for the check.... They brought us the WRONG check, after 5min (that seemed forever, and we could not believe it) the server came with... The wrong check again! At this point we were now upset. After my husband had to stand and go to the cashier to figure it out we finally paid our check, that was not even complete ... Maybe just a bad service day but for sure not going back."

"Got a little lost because instructions on email said to enter 81 E. Berkeley in our GPS. We parked there and were nowhere near the restaurant. We walked back to our car and then had to drive a bit to get the restaurant. Place was crowded but they had our table ready for our 5 person reservation. Drinks were good. Food was good except for shortribs which were dried out. Desserts were amazing."

"When we ordered our meal, we asked our waitress if we should order just our apps first or just tell her everything now... in hopes that all of our food wouldn't come out at once. It did. I don't know if that's just how things go there, but unfortunately a lot of our food got cold. All that being said, the food was DELICIOUS! Also, when the waitress asked if we wanted dessert and we said, OF COURSE, we were disappointed when we waited and waited, only to get our check.
I'd like to think it was a fluke night, because I love the food in that place and the wait staff is generally wonderful and on top of their game.
All in all, I will definitely be going back!"

"One of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The food is consistently wonderful with a dazzling interplay of flavors, colors and textures. Even converted my dining partner to tofu after eating the spicy silky tofu. This is a place you go to eat. "This place is wonderful! The food is incredible with extremely reaonable prices. I have been there a dozen times and have not ever been disappointed. The service is also superior. It is one of my favorite paces to eat in Boston. Make sure to make reservation if you want yo sit at a table, this place is in high demand. It is one of the reasons I love living in Boston, to have such convenient and awesome place to eat. If you get a chance, try one of her cafe, Flowers, for awesome dessert. You won't be dissappointed!Myers and Chang are geneous. I hope they don't ever change a thing about it."

"I think there is a legitimate case to be made that this is the best restaurant in the city. Obviously there are fancier and more expensive places, with more elaborate decor, etc., but when you dig back at the essential core of what a restaurant is-- the food-- every time I've been here (10 or so) and tried almost every dish, each one is outstanding, there are no boring fillers on the menu, there is no dish that isn't special in its taste, seasoning or preparation. Bravo!"

"Overall, a good experience. As is all too often the case, the small plates were more interesting and daring than the large plates. We loved the dumplings and octopus salad that started the meal, but of our main courses, only one (a duck fried rice special) stood out.
The lamb belly was one-dimensional and lacking zip and brightness; the lamb belly meat itself, usually gloriously fatty, was dry, possibly because it was overcooked. The salmon was well-prepared but plated in a confusing way, with discs of ginger that scanned as slices of fingerling potato...until I put one in my mouth to experience the worst bite of the evening.
The staff is great and the space is nice, so I'll be back to see whether I can have a better food experience."

"For no particular reason, we had not visited Myers and Chang for several months and so I was a little surprised by how spectacular this restaurant really is. The dishes are original, varied, brightly delicious, and nicely presented. The wait staff is young, well-informed, and friendly. And the chef, Karen Akunowicz, radiates good will and culinary competence. For anyone who has not had the pleasure, Myers and Chang will provide a startling and delightful extension of what you thought you knew about Asian food. For returning customers, Myers and Chang only gets better."

"One of the very few restaurants in the South End worth finding parking for, we love trying everything on the menu. Especially the Dan Dan Noodles and the Brussel Sprouts (and I never thought I would ever say that I love Brussel Sprouts). The Dim Sum style menu on Weekend Brunch is perfect for sharing and it's easy to accomodate "veg, gluten free, dairy free" people and have the meal still be great. The staff is so friendly and helpful- we can't say enough good things."
