From the simple to the sophisticated, Solo Bistro serves up delicious dishes made from scratch, with an emphasis on fresh, local and organic ingredients. Winner of the Sante Magazine Innovative Culinary Hospitality Award and multiple Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence, Solo Bistro is a leader among the small but growing number of restaurants outside Portland that are attracting national attention to the culinary possiblities in the great state of Maine. We strive for quality in everything we do with food, wine, beer and spirits at Solo. Great food and drink served in a modern setting in historic Bath, Maine, home of the Maine Maritime Museum. World class cuisine in the City of Ships!
"SOLO DID NOT LIVE UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS FOR A BISTRO. THE DINING ROOM DIDN'T HAVE ANY SPECIAL AMBIANCE AND WAS VERY NOISY DUE TO THE WOODEN CHAIRS SCRAPING ON THE WOODEN FLOOR BY GUESTS AND STAFF. THE WAITRESS WAS ATTENTIVE AND DID A FINE JOB. WHILE THE FOOD WAS WELL PREPARED, I FOUND THE SIZE OF MY HALIBUT ENTREE VERY SMALL FOR THE PRICE ASKED."

"Solo Bistro's menu showcases the excellent local ingredients found here in Maine. Too often, though, the dishes were over-thought (too many flavors lacking a clear center or cohesion) or were diminished by less than perfect execution (e.g.bouillabaisse broth that was a thick sauce). Although Solo Bistro clearly tops the dining options in Bath, the chef has work ahead to compete for a berth in the top tier of Maine restaurants."

"Dianna''s Birthday was made special by our dinner with friends at Solo Bistro...the wait staff was great and the food even better..Highly recommend the Oysters from Pemaquid ..a bit pricing but little gems on a shell with the jalepeno/onion garnish. The lamb was delicious and so all the other meals around the table."

"Loved the fennel chocolate chip ice cream. All the ingredients from our salads to dessert were very fine quality: fresh and flavorful. Whiskey smash cocktail with fresh mint a real winner too."

"Solo Bistro is a restaurant well worth visiting many times. The menu is creative and is constantly changing. Ingredients are purchased locally, are well prepared and beautifully presented. The prix fixe offering is a bargain and is always a nicely coordinated starter, entree and dessert. The wine list offers a variety of choices which should appeal to any wine drinker, and the staff is knowledgeable and willing to offer recommendations to go with any meal. A great choice for a casual, comfortable and delicious dining experience."

"Solo Bistro is definitely a neighborhood gem that draws foodies from afar! Will (one of the owners) writes inspiring mused mumblings about elemental life and life among the elements of Maine which consistently conclude with what the mid-week offerings for a pre-fix 3 course meal entails. The chef utilizes local produce for a true "farm to table" experience. We enjoyed such a meal last week and I was grateful that I had foresight to reserve a table, otherwise, we would not have been so fortunate. The food was delicious and adaptable to a vegetarian palate. The signature cocktail of the evening was refreshing and light. Dessert offered the first promise of Maine strawberries in summer...a delight for the tastebuds. Find your muse at Solo."

"We ate here for our fourth wedding anniversary. I noted this on our Open Table reservation, and they treated us so nicely, including bringing us a free sorbet with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate in chocolate at the end of the meal. Truly great, friendly service."

"Lobster risotto was 'yummy' to quote a friend, and my halibut dish had all the right flavor note accompaniments. First course salads were fine; excellent wine choices."

"We are "summer people" and upon our return to Maine made Solo -- our Bath favorite -- our first restaurant stop, and found that Solo more than "stepped up to the plate." The carrot-cocoanut soup was elegant and my husband enjoyed his favorite bibb lettuce salad. He had the miso-roasted halibut which he pronounced excellent -- beautifully seared but succulent, and served over garlic smashed red potatoes. My fennel-poached lobster was served over the potatoes too, with slivers of fennel and caper-butter sauce, topped off by delicious, tender green pea shoots, complete with curly tendrils! Though the portions are not excessively large, we ran out of room for desert, though the raspberry-pepper swirl ice cream did tempt us."

"This is a wonderful restaurant in Bath, Maine. The food is terrific, innovative, and fresh. The service is fabulous. The restaurant accommodated a change in reservation allowing us to celebrate our son's college graduation. And what a wonderful place to celebrate-great ambiance and great food."

"The menu features some extremely interesting ideas, based on seafood but not only seafood. I had mussels, and then scallops. They were both prepared with exactly the right amount of spiciness, so that their true taste was not hidden. We had a great dessert, a goat cheese cake, and a lavender sorbet which was spectacular. The wine list was great, and affordable. They have regular and decaf coffee, and also espressos. In two people, we had 1 starter, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 glasses of wine, 2 coffees, for $105 (before-tip) I would strongly recommend the place."

"The Moules-Frites were bathed in a wonderful sauce that you'd have to finish with the spoon that accompanied it. The fish sandwich was cooked perfectly, and the fries were delicious all by themselves (I usually have fries as a conduit to the ketsup). Not much to say about the atmosphere, but the service was delightful."

"The food was tasty, interesting, and well-prepared. The menu wasn't quite as extensive as the online menu led us to believe. However, as we don't eat meat that reduced our choices considerably. They had a good wine list from which to choose."

"A delightful fine dining experience in a picturesque town. The food was locally sourced, very fresh and the menu, although not extensive, was diverse and had many intriguing dishes. I had the prix fixe menu on the night we ate there, including a lovely, subtle parsnip soup, a flavorful lamb shank with fingerling potatoes and a marvelous chocolate cake. My companion had the grilled vegetables Napoleon, and although I thought it was a quite interesting dish, I don't think the description on the menu quite prepared her for what it actually was.
The service was absolutely superb! The perfect mixture of server availability at a moments notice without the unctuous interjection of "is everything alright?" every 10 minutes."

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Solo Bistro this past Saturday night. When we arrived , we were warmly greeted and our table was all ready. No waiting. The restaurant was almost full but the noise level was fine. Our servers were so friendly, well-informed and helpful. The food was wonderful and we had a great time. I am NOT. a dessert person at all, usually do not order any, but tried the parsnip cake with beet cream . It was FABULOUS and a beautiful color.
Try this restaurant. You will be glad you did !"

"Great place, but very drafty if you are seated near front door. Heavy curtains just don't stop the cold breeze from blowing in when door is opened. Would really benefit from having an outer door/heated entry. For now, try to get a table in the room away from the front door in the winter."

"This was neither our first visit to Solo Bistro, nor will it 'be our last. We are drawn like a magnet by the ambiance, attentive staff and fine menu. A gourmand's delight. Chef Ray now leads the talented kitchen staff, and Wow! His creative preparations raise the bar in restaurant dining. From the initial warm greeting by owner Pia, followed by a liesurely dinner, some wine and a scrumptious desert, departing Solo Bistro brings to mind General Douglas MacArthur's words "I Shall Return"."

"As always, our experience at Solo Bistro was marvelous. One of the things we really like is the size of the portions: they are moderate and appropriate for those of us concerned with waist lines. And as always, beautifully presented. Our favorite Mid Coast restaurant."
