Piccolo presents a modern approach to dining by creating dishes moderate in portion size which we feel enhances the dining experience by allowing you more variety in taste while eating healthier.
"Made dinner reservations for Mother's Day also had flowers delivered to the restaurant. The wait staff was excellent they had the flowers waiting at our table and they were very attentive. Food was clean, vibrant and fresh. Many flavors in each single dish and all very well done. The texture of the dishes were equally as good as the flavors i.e. the flying fish eggs with the Couscous; absolutely wonderful."

"Prepare yourself for refined eating. Nicely presented very small portions of unusual combinations that have been creatively thought out. Well explained by the wait staff, and our five courses evenly timed. Good wine selection."

"Really. Five small tasting courses for how much? But then the food starts to come out, beautifully presented on the plate and explained by the server. Unreal pairings of tastes that not only work, they are incredible. The entire meal is relaxed and paced perfectly. There is time to chat and sip wine. And to eat some more. And then, suddenly, it is over. Surprisingly you are totally sated. You think back about the different plates you sampled. There was not one thing that you would not like to have again and again. Price? You stopped thinking about that with your first bite a couple of hours ago. For some amazing experiences, price really does not matter. Not at all."

"2nd time at Piccolo, always treated extremely well. Food was great as usual, staff was very welcoming. We celebrated our 5th anniversary that night and were sent home with a Happy Anniversary card signed by the entire staff. The small touches make this place the gem that it is."

"The plates at Piccolo are small and intricately designed. My boyfriend and I love to check out fine dining in the Twin Cities and were excited to try this well-reviewed restaurant. While we enjoyed our meal, we were not overly impressed. We decided that Piccolo is for the serious foodie, who is bored with simple deliciousness and requires a complexity and elegance not seen in just any fine dining experience. For now we are going to keep getting tasty plates with bigger portions elsewhere."

We had four in our party, and each of us ordered the 5-course tasting menu. The tasting menu allows the diner to select one of three choices in five different categories for a five-course meal. Reading the menu ahead of time made us a bit worried...fermented asparagus? Parsnip milk? Octopus bisque? Never fear. Every item on the menu (and between the four of us we tried literally every menu item) was dazzling. Presentation was perfect for each course. With an excellent red and an excellent white wine on our table, we had just the right complement at all times for the food."

"Fantastic tastes! Small portions but intense flavor. Perfect for weight watchers who still want to enjoy life. Would go there more often if prices were a little lower though. But they have a small dining room so they don't seem to have a problem filling it. Oh well, reserve the place for special occasions then."

"As usual the food at Piccolo was outstanding. The wine list is reasonable and interesting with a good selection of wines by the glass and a nice full list. Doug is the most creative chef in the Twin Cities and his small plates are wonderful to share."

"Love this place! Delicious and creative food with friendly service; can't beat that. We come here to celebrate special occasions and this time around it was for our anniversary. Up arrival we were greeted with two glasses of champagne. The night ended with an anniversary card from the restaurant. I need more special occasions in my life..."

"Had just an outstanding experience at Piccolo. We were celebrating my partner's 50th birthday, and requested a special table. We arrived, were greeted with two glasses of champagne, and escorted to a private, quiet area with three tables. It was candle-lit, and beautiful. The food, service and ambiance were just amazing, and they treated us like royalty. We typically only dine at places like this for special occasions, and originally Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian at Disney World took our top-spot for our tenth anniversary over ten years ago. Piccolo has now replaced them as our favorite memory---it simply could not have been any better."

"My wife and I went there for the first time to celebrate her birthday. We made the reservation through Open Table, and I let them know we were celebrating her special occasion. We were impressed by everything, except that the space is tiny and the only water closet is unisex and just steps from the front door. They greeted her with a happy birthday, which was nice, and included a little candle on the desert, which is common. However, the unusual act that made her smile was the little happy birthday card for her in our check.
If you like fine dining and can handle smaller portions of food at a fair price, this is an outstanding local treat."

"I took my 17 eyar old daughters to Piccolo for their birthday- along with my 14 year old son. My kids enjoy very good/innovative food- we had a great night. The food, as always, was great and inventive- with a wide range of ingredients - octopus, frog legs, rabbit, etc. Our server was attentive yet relaxed - we all had the five course menu, plus cheese and enjoyed it thoroughly. I consider this one of the top 3 to 4 places in the Twin Cities for excellent, innovative food - and probably the best value. A great night."

this months menu has an octopus bisque- silky, slightly smokey; beautiful sturgeon. forget the chicken n waffles craze- go for pousain and frog legs! best gnochhi ever as well as duck and veal breast (tricky to get right because of the tiny bones, but NONE in chef's hands)
for two, we had 2/3 of the list going for the five course tasting. this is without a doubt not only excitement in every bite but an incredibly vslue piccolo is what dining can and should be; only a couple spots in town come close!"

"Dined on a Monday evening with my wife. Server was friendly, informative and not a know-it-all snob! Both had the 5-course. Notable dishes were the duck, rabbit, lobster and egg with pickled pigs foot. Could not believe how small this place is, great for a date. I would like to add that the 5-course was just the right amount of food."

"Beautiful, intensely flavored food, thoughtful and affordable wine list. Portions are piccolo so not a good place to share among many, but the tasting menu is a generous amount of food for the biggest appetites. (Plus you can eat their stellar bread and butter without worrying.) Great stop on a midwestern eating tour!"

"Piccolo is very much as advertised and reviewed and that is excellent. Small street corner location. Small and close dining area that at first can make you wonder if you'll have privacy, but that is quickly overcome and absolutely not an issue. Service is incredibly personal yet appropriate. Help with selections and wine was spot on. I recommend the tasting menu - it just makes life easier. And the food was simply amazing. Just right and very content at the end of the night. We'll most definitely be back."

"Piccolo was fantastic! My girlfriend and I each did the tasting menu, which was incredibly well priced. The establishment gives off the warmth and coziness of a good friend's dining room. The spanish smoked octopus was to die for. The presentation of this dish was so inventive and fun! (arrives in a small jar filled with smoke and the server opens it to let it release at the table)
The only thing I would have liked more is to have experienced a little more warmth and friendliness from the servers. They didn't seem overly passionate about the dishes, just descriptive and straight forward. I got the feeling they didn't realize how much THEY add to the experience of the diners.
Regardless, the culinary experience was still top not"

"Bit snooty in attitude of the food and staff (friendly and attentive though). The decor and room was clean and pleasant, but cramped and noisy. The value for price was just so so. Someone tried very hard to deliver complex, well prepared, and well plated food. While the dishes were well plated, I would say that not one of the dishes was above average once in my mouth. At that level of price and service, every bite should make me want more in my mouth, wow me and make me want to figure out how to make it. You tried too hard and did not combine flavors that well. You missed on what ultimately makes a restaurant - the food. Finally, you should have a prix fixe for the tasting menu and a simple full price, full size plates menu."

"Atmosphere is not all that great. The staff was extremely friendly knowledgeable and attentive. The food was outstanding. Small but comfortable. Pricey but on par bite for bite with la belle vie. But easier on the wallet. Still have a ways to go to compete with the ambiance of la belle vie. Although I'm pretty sure there going for two different atmospheres. But be that as it may i would highly suggest everyone try this place. La belle vie still gets the nod. But piccolo USA nice alternative."
