"For a special occassion to go along with the gaming at Mohegan Sun we chose to go to Bar Americain. The decor and ambiance was very nice and the staff at the front was attentive and personal.
Though the restaurant was crowded there was enough space to give the feeling of privacy. The waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful with his suggestions and was a pleasure. As far as the food, we shared the tuna tartare which was excellent. We had the Chippino (pardon the spelling) which had a variey of well cooked seafood (mussels, clams, shrimp, a white fish (snapper?) and a lobster tail and claw in a very nice sauce. We also had a rib eye which was boneless and probably one of the very best steaks we have ever eaten."

"Not a good sign when the best thing at the table are the fries (which were fantastic.) The Asparagus Chopped Salad had ONE piece of asparagus about 2 inches long. The Shrimp & Grits had two small shrimp. I've made this recipe at home and it was much better than at BA. The Fried Chicken was just ok. The swordfish was good not great. I don't mind paying those kinds of prices for a special occasion, but i've had better meals at The Outback for half the price. And had food at restaurants in Boston (Troquet, Radius, No. 9 Park) that absolutely blew away anything we had at BA. The service was fantastic, and the drinks we had were delicious. I ordered the Chocolate Cream Pie specifically because of the "graham cracker wafer", which was inedible."

"Everything we sampled was very tasty. The service was great as well. Everyone was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. While this is not the place for a quiet romantic dinner, as most of the tables lack privacy and the dining room is quite open and noisy, the food makes it with a visit. Be sure to budget enough to sample all the courses. With appetizers and desserts this restaurant could easily cost $75 -$100 per person, or more, especially if you plan on having a couple of drinks with dinner."

"We have been to Bobby Flay's in NY a couple of times, and I was not overly impressed with it, but this experience at Mohegan Sun was totally different.
I started with a Boston lettuce salad, which was very, very tasty, followed by fried chicken for my entree. I consider myself a fried chicken afficiando, and this preparation was excellent. The entire experience there, as opposed to the NY locaton, was totally different. The atmosphere is more romantic, and the service was outstanding.
I don't remember what I had for desert, but I remember remarking how good it was---and I'm not a desert person.
Both my husband and I toroughly enjoyed everything we ate, as well as the service."

"As a huge fan of cooking shows of all kinds it was a true joy to be seated at one of the great Bobby Flay's restaurants. My husband and I had a rare opportunity to 'get away from it all' for an overnight trip to Mohegan Sun and wanted to make it especially memorable by having a very special dinner.
We had an incredible meal, a very attentive and friendly wait staff, and an all around perfect dining experience. We're already looking forward to our next trip to Mohegan Sun and another visit to Bar Americain."

"Food was good but not exceptional. The fried chicken was in too big pieces and was overdone and the Spicy Tuna Tartar was unseasoned. The Mussels were great and the clams fresh. I had an espresso martini that was to die for. We were expecting more from a Bobby Flay restaurant. We should have considered the venue - people come to gamble - not to eat I guess."

"I had a NY Strip, and it was outstanding. Not only was it cooked extremely well, but it was also flavored slightly with one of the best dry rubs I have ever tasted. Also the Bobby Flay steak sauce was incredible.... I would add that I had the escargot, and it was just O.K., but my friend had the raw oysters and they were life changing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

"Went to Bar Amercain for dinner after receiving a special hotel rate from Mohegan. I have eaten here before, and it was good, but this time it was even better than I remember. I had the shrimp cocktail with the tomatillo sauce which was delicious and spicy. I followed it with the Buttermilk Chicken which was simply outstanding. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it just melted in your mouth. Alsoo had a drink - Lemon Drop - and it was made perfectly. Very crowded for a Sunday night also. I will definitely be going back there soon."

"We reviewed several of the restaurants at Mohegan Sun for our Anniversary dinner. We chose Bar America because of the menu selection and we were intrigued by several of the reviews we read. We were not disapointed! From the time we arrived until our last bite of food and sip of wine we had a great time. The staff was attentive, friendly and very helpful. My wife had the Mahi Mahi and I had the Duck, both were delicious! Our favorite part of the meal was "The Selection" from the raw bar, however the tower of raw seafood selections did interfere with our ability to gaze romantically in to each others eyes or have a conversation. Even with this obsticle we managed to work around it and had a wonderful evening that we will not soon forget."

"The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. The mussels were full of flavor. When they say hot chips with blue cheese, all that means is that the chips are warm, not spicy. A bit disappointed on that one. It was a bit noisy that night. The waiter had a tough time hearing our order. The service was slow. Not sure if it was due to lack of staff that night or this is the norm. Overall a good experience. The food was very well made."

"It was a nice looking restaurant but very overpriced for the amount of food that you get.
I like nicer restaurants like a Ruth's Chris steakhouse and don't mind paying a little extra for a nice meal. But this place was not worth the extra money. I would have rather gone to a casual place and spent my money gambling.

"Noted for his creative interpretations of southwestern ingredients, Bobby Flay's Bar Americain at Mohegan Sun lives up to his reputation for unique dishes with equally unique flavors. And if your palate is tuned for less energetic seasonings, the restaurant accommodates with lobster that is scrumptious, fine steaks (with or without the rub) and a willingness to hold the spices on certain menu items. A win-win for multiple diners with differing tastes and dietary needs. The service is impeccable as well, and the atmosphere warm and inviting.
For a quick burger or sandwich, try Bobby's Burger Palace also at Mohegan Sun. The grilled cheese is outstanding as are the burgers."

"Had dinner on a Friday night...place was empty. Still the food was outstanding and the service was great. Steak was cooked perfectly and all other dishes were delicious. Fair prices for a higher end restaurant in a casino."

"The service and food at Bar Americain is excellent. The staff was attentive without being intrusive and the service was wonderful. I had ordered a birthday cake weeks before, and it arrived at the table, candles lit and all without my having to check on it. All in all an excellent dining experience!"

"For the price service and food should be better. I don't mind paying more but expect to get what I pay for! Also left what I felt was appropriate tip of $20 on a $150 bill but restaurant charged my card for $30 which would be 20% instead of the 15% I felt was more than generous based on the service that I received. I was told when I called this was standard practice at Mohegan Sun. I have never had a restaurant charge my debit card for more than I authorized before. Was a party of 2 not party of 8 for which they clearly state they will charge 18% not the 20% I was charged."

"This was our first visit to Bar Americain. I was a little apprehensive about a 6:30 pm reservation with an 8 pm show because a lot of the reviews I read said the service was slow but we found it to be just the opposite; reservations were running on time and our waitress was more than accommodating. We had cocktails, an appetizer and dinner; skipping coffee and dessert. I would love to go back and linger over the courses because that's how good the food was and it strikes me as that kind of meal. Both of our meals were excellent! I also noticed that a lot of the other reviews stated that it was pricey... I don't think it was any more or less than any other fine dining restaurant and the food was totally worth it!"

"On paper the food looked incredible, but almost every dish came out much too salty or over spiced. We had a table of 6 and at least half the food was hard to eat which is not something I could overlook considering the price tag. The steak tartar was like eating spoonfuls of horseradish mayo and the lobster and avocado cocktail only tasted of vinegar, which were both a shame because there were clearly some great ingredients being used and wasted. Even the Mahi Mahi was too salty to eat.
The lobster was good and so were the hot potato chips (although very small). The waitstaff was helpful and attentive but we left the night unable to get past the incredible overuse of salt, I would recommend taking your money elsewhere."

"Outstanding food and wait staff very attentive to every detail. My criticism of restaurants in general is from a health perspective why must vegetables take last place??? We ordered a salad and green needed a magnifying glass to find.
