Established in 1986, Ristorante Piccolo is a romantic and unique Italian trattoria with walls of sun-blessed amber hues, full of the warm-hearted wines and food that match the spirit of Italy, loved by Washingtonians and visitors alike! It is a tiny gem just off the beaten path in Georgetown, offering one of the best seats in Georgetown—a second-floor balcony overlooking Georgetown and the historic C & O Canal, and is a very popular spot for rehearsal dinners and celebrations. Piccolo will happily surprise you with its excellent food, service, wine and atmosphere--with three cozy-lit fireplaces, 2 beautiful wall water features and unique ironwork throughout, adding to the warmth and romance of the restaurant. "It was my girlfriends birthday, we had a drink at the bar and Andrea was fantastic helping my gf with her drink, the host gave us a private table off to the side that was perfect for our evening, the waiter knew the menu and was very patient with us. The steak capaccio and antipasta was incredible and their homemade lobster ravioli was fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant and it behooves you to make a reservation especially on busy evenings."

"Wonderful neighborhood restaurant just off the bustle of M Street. Not too big and not too small. While the menu may seem like a standard selection as you would find at any nice Italian restaurant, it is what is delivered to the table that makes the experience special. Every course was special, perfectly prepared and memorable. I could not find fault with anything."

"This small restaurant is packed with flavor and ambiance. There are multiple tables for two, so it would be perfect for a romantic dinner or a date. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Pasta A'matrichiana which is usually not spicy, but this had a great kick!"

"portions were very small...especially the lamb serving for Easter brunch. Everyone in my party is thin, so we aren't looking for large portions, but would like to feel satisfied after the meal. The setting on a side street of Georgetown is lovely, and the intimate small dining room, which doesn't allow for crowds, is charming and delightful. Groups could do well upstairs.. The food tasted goo, but not amazing.
my husband who doesn't like sweets asked if he could have a small bowl of cut fruit for dessert....the answer was "NO" , which made no sense to me, as there were fruit aspects and touches/add-ons to other dishes on the menu... seemed uncaring and not client-friendly in that regard."

"I love this place. I have now been there 3 times and have enjoyed my experience each and every time. The food is fabulous and the waitstaff is very professional/knowledgable and helpful. On the weekends there is a strolling violinist which I find very endearing. There are so many great restaurants in DC, but this is the first one in a long time that I have wanted to return to and bring others with me. "Went there on a business lunch with some trepidation because the last time I was here the food was awful. But that was a year ago, so I decided to give it another try. Very much improved. They now have a fixed price $12 lunch. I ordered the minestrone soup which was excelllent and the chicken salad, which also was very good. And the bread was soft and warm. "We have eaten here several times and overall, it is spotty. During our last experience, sadly it was on the poorer side. My daughter, who lived in Italy, ordered the Pomodoro soup. It was not even closely related to the real thing. My entree (one of the specials) was veal/spinach ravioli. The pasta was overcooked with blobs of tomato sauce-- cheese thrown on top that looked like it came out of a Sargento package...not melted just there!
Service was poor from the waiter and overly aggressive by the bus person who kept asking us if we were finished, despite food on our plates. I want to like Piccolo because it is a cute, smaller restaurant. But inconsistent service and food makes it difficult."

"Eveything was great... Music was played on a violin. Which is nice, but in such a small room the music became TOO TOO Loud too quickly at which point my date and I were screaming at one another to say something. Music to be romantic is nice, but not when you can't hear someone.
Food was yummy, service was attentitive. Overall pretty good."

"Highly suggest getting a reservation if you plan on eating at this fine establishment. They were turning people away without them. The food was incredible, the ambiance of the restaurant is very warm and romantic, the wait staff is excellent, and typically they have a floating violinist (not this particular visit however) which is pretty neat and adds to the dining experience. Perfect place to take a date or for a romantic dinner."

"On February 8, I decided to use my coupon. I made reservations and we were seated at the reserved time. I had been looking forward to Carpaccio as you do not see this dish often on a menu. I was very disappointed when the anti-pasta was served with only four thinly shaved peaces of beef clued to the plate with a few crumbs of cheese covered in aragula. The veal Picatta was outstanding."

"Outstanding is the best word to describe this evening. We had a quiet cozy table and Joe our waiter was excellent. He knew just when to approach us and when to step back. The food was deftly prepared and presented. The Osso Bucco was prepared as it should be , not in tomato sauce, and served with a wonderful Risotto Milanese. The Risotto Frutti d Mare was flavorful with just the right blend of seafood. This is definitely a go to for special occasions."

"For my birthday, my boyfriend and I decided to take a chance and try Ristorante Piccolo after having visited Il Canale and Paper Moon in the past year. I can easily say we were both blown away by the service and food quality. Our beverages were refilled before they were even emptied, the waiter came by twice while we were eating to ensure that we enjoyed our meals, and they cleared the table in between our appetizers and entrees very quickly. The staff members were all very polite and made sure we were satisfied, even though the restaurant was at its peak dinner hour. The food was fantastic, with my chicken parmesan cooked and seasoned perfectly and our shared crab bruschetta with the right ratio of ingredients. I would recommend this place"
