"Had an early dinner on the outside patio on one of the first great weather days of Minnesota Spring! (Sad to say it was May 5!) RE: noise level: Because it was late afternoon the restaurant had very few people and it was a very calm, comfortable atmosphere. About 1/2 hour before we left a group with kids came in and it "livened up" the place a bit, but not overwhelmingly.
Server was very welcoming and friendly but not patronizing, very helpful in his information about both the bar menu and food menu. He was truly part of the wonderful experience! Calamari appetizer and White Tiger Roll was phenomenal! Great Mojito as well! [We went for multi-cultural on that one! :-) J/K]"

"We have dinner at Sakana once a week, which as foodies who like to eat around, is a big deal. We've surprised ourselves with this weekly loyalty, and have decided while we like the service, atmosphere etc, we come back back because everything on the menu is good and good every time."

"Once again the food and sake were outstanding. Baby squid salad and edamame were both prepared perectly, yum! The sashimi entree had five different types of fish, beautifully arranged -- all were exquisite and reflected a range of flavors and textures. Our server was very helpful and just the perfect amount of attentive. The range of sake choices, available by glass or carafe was awesome. A wonderful little spot in downtown Wayzata."

"Fabulous sashimi! Ordered the chef's choice sushi & sashimi platter and a couple of a la carte items- truly appetizing & gorgeous presentation, excellent flavors/textures for the fish, very high quality. Even the nori wrappers used had a wonderful roasted flavor & perfect texture. Squid salad had lots of squid in a delightful marinade, and fresh spring greens. Wide and diverse range of sake offerings - very impressive to have so many available by the glass or carafe. Our server Amanda was perfect: knowledgable, playful in spirit, patient, good at explaining things, and able to make great recommendations- all while the house was packed! A thoroughly enjoyable dinner, bravo. Beats other sushi restaurants in the surrounding area, hands down."

"It smelled fishy when we walked in, The interior decor is very poorly done, obviously not done by a professional. The food was served at different times for our table. The food was ok, but there are much better sushi restaurants in town. I liked our server's Batman belt. He was nice."

"The location in Wayzata and the ambiance of the dining room is great. I ordered a salmon sake sashimi and the house special Chilean sea bass. The sashimi was fresh and comparable to other Japanese restaurants at the same price range. I was very disappointed with the expensive sea bass though. My sea bass was overcooked, chewy and bland. I still ate the whole meal because I was too hungry to return it to the kitchen but was certainly disappointed with it."

"Nestled in downtown Wayzata with a sidewalk view of Lake Minnetonka, the staff of Sakana Sushi provides great sushi options with unique combinations in a fun open environment. The Fried Rice and Tempura entrees make it a great spot for a wide variety of appetites. The menu prices are very reasonable for this type of quality and atmosphere.
Because of its ability to be totally open to the lake environment during the summer, it felt a little drafty on the winter night that we visited. ."
