Formerly known as Bistro du Nord, the owner P. Laurent has re-invented the decor, food, and ambiance, creating a delightfully modern Parisian style bistro, "Le Paris." The menu offers new and improved dishes as well as the previous three course Pre-Theater Menu, served 5-7p.m. daily.
The classic bistro fare includes duck confit, moules marinieres, steak tartar, grilled black angus au poivre, Kobe burger, lamb shank, calf liver, oysters, as well as a tempting fromage du jour and a large selection of wines by the glass or bottle at very reasonable prices. In addition, you can prepare your own fish or meat dishes, "simply done" with a choice of sauce and garnitures. At "Le Paris" you will feel transported to a romantic riverside table in Paris, complete with strains of music francaise and twinkling candlelight - a truly memorable dinning experience.
"Food is delicious (salmon amazing), ambiance is lovely, staff is friendly and pleasant but not too efficient. I got their early and was waiting for dining partners and was not once offered a drink. When party of 3 was all seated they neglected to bring over menus for everyone. It wasn't that crowded. Had to ask several time for a beverage or more bread. Every time food was brought to the table it was placed before the wrong person. Having said that it's a minor annoyance b/c the food is great, the staff doesn't rush you out, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed which is rare on the UES. It's become my new haunt even though I've lived in neighborhood for years."

"Although my husband, son and I were surprised to find a special Mother's Day menu, we got past that and thoroughly enjoyed the time there. Although busy, the staff is friendly and professional. The food was prepared exactly as requested and it was delicious. Perhaps the best pomme frites! It was a lovely day and a lovely meal - would recommend, especially when the prices are more reasonable."

"The food is wonderful. The prix fixe menu is a particular New York bargain at $19.95. However, waiters who grab plates from the table before people are finished and deliver incomplete orders can be annoying. The upstairs level, where most of the tables are, tends to be very crowded and when patrons have a few drinks, very noisy. This was made more uncomfortable by the low ceilings and the heat which had risen from the ground level. Eat downstairs before 7 PM and you will be very happy."

"A really good neighborhood french restaurant, with daily specials and a fairly low cost price fixe menu (which hasn't changed in some time, and probably doesn't need to.) I keep coming back because the food is good and I feel welcomed."

"Food is very good. The place is authentic, but very crowded. It's in a great place, and it was Saturday, so I think is normal. You can go with kids, but they don't have a kids menu."

"A recent weeknight dinner was excellent. The salad with roquefort, apples and endive was delicious, if only all restaurants could make such a fantastic salad for such a reasonable price. Coq au vin was rich and flavorful and calves liver prepared perfectly. Ambiance is cozy and romantic and the staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating, e.g. allowing side dish substitutions. With reasonable prices and a well rounded menu, who could ask for more?"

"Loved it. Great food, accomodating staff. A terrific find. Escargots and salads very fresh and flavorful, crispy branzino, interesting specials. We'd definitely go back."

"we always have a great time at this small bistro but on the last visit we didn't have too much time so we went for dessert only and it took about 20 min to come out, otherwise no complaints."

"I saw on the menu that they had mussels before even going to the restaurant and I knew that was what I was going to order before even getting there. And sadly...they didn't have them that day. What a bummer! It kind of made me sad but I opted for the chicken which was just alright. My dad said it was the best french onion soup he has ever tasted and my mom loved her tuna nicoise salad. My dad then had the Croque Monsieur and he said it was the best sandwich he has ever had in his life --- and for my dad, who is a total foodie, this was big news. So overall, my family enjoyed it. I live a few blocks away and will be back - just hoping they have the mussels this time."
