Spago - Bachelor Gulch
Master Chef Wolfgang Puck teamed up with the award-winning Ritz-Carlton to open a Colorado outpost of his legendary Spago at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, the Vail Valley's only AAA Five Diamond resort. Spago continues to set the standard for cuisine, service and style. Chef Jared Montarbo creates imaginative, California cuisine with regional, European and Asian influences in a sophisticated, warm environment crafted by esteemed New York-based hospitality designer Tony Chi. The menu features Spago’s classics from over the years and Wolfgang's childhood favorites - Organic Salmon Steamed "Hong Kong" Style and Veal "Wiener Schnitzel"- as well as new signature dishes locally inspired by the surrounding environment with as many ingredients from the area as possible. The 4,400 square foot restaurant features a hip and sophisticated 34-seat bar and lounge which is the ideal place to see and be seen.

"630 Reservation for 4 people. We like to enjoy dinner and not be rushed, but this was slowww. We had 1 or 2 drinks per person, salads and an entree , no desserts. we didn't get our check until almost 9pm. after the long wait for entrees they brought an incorrect dish to one of the four of us so we still waited. The food quality was good as should be expected from a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The server was nice and the busser did a great job. When asking for a red wine, they suggest the french pinot noir which is more than $30/ glass without suggesting other reds at the standard $15 range. Not sure we'd go back with all the great options in the area. Not sure Wolgang would have been impressed."

"We dined at multiple upper-end restuarants during our stay. In comparison, we were dissapointed by Spago. The ambiance does not fit the rest of the beautifult hotel and the food was good but not memorable. The service was very good, though. The restaurant sits at the bottom level of the hotel, so there really is no view. For the same money, Splendido was a far better choice."

"Nice ambiance, but for a $40 entree I was surprised to get a piece of fish the size of my palm with a tomato sauce all over it, supposedly it was a fish bouillabaisse but i only saw 2 tiny shrimp and 2 clams. My bf had the veal wiener schnitzel he said it was nothing special.I can say the only thing that was very good was the beef tartar which comes with a quail egg and they mix it in front of you. Otherwise I'll never go back there again for dinner, maybe just to the bar."

"We stayed at the Ritz and had many meals at Spago - all were absolutely delicious, as they should be at their very high prices ($400 for dinner for two with a painfully overpriced wine, $95 for breakfast, etc.) The food is definitely as good as the flagship in LA, but the atmosphere and service definitely are not (and I'd guess prices are higher than in LA). The real problem is that it feels like what it is - a restaurant in a ski resort - lots of families and people in ski gear. I'm sorry but paying $400 to have dinner surrounded by kids is a bit of a drag, not matter how tasty the food. I would have been EXTREMELY bummed if I'd travelled farther than an elevator ride to do so."
