"We went here for our daughter's 30th birthday along with her boyfriend. I must say I had one of the best Bento boxes of any Japanese restaurant I have been to. Her boyfriend ordered a sashimi dish, I think, (I could not hear what he had ordered) & the presentation was awesome! It was a lovely dining experience. On the down side, when I went to order a dessert, the waittress only then pointed out that they were out of the first 2 items on the menu list. She should have informed us of this when handing out the dessert menus. None of us ordered dessert. Yes, I would return"

"The Kobe Beef meatballs were awesome! Could have made a meal just out of those. Read some reviews saying it's pricey. Definitely worth the price and I've been in more expensive places where the food wasn't nearly as good."

"Hadn't been to Nisen in a while, but will go more often now. The rolls were delicious, and there was a great variety from which to choose. Waitress was very attentive, yet knew not to be too attentive. Rolls are a little more expensive than elsewhere, but the ambiance is nicer too."

"I have frequented Nisen in Commack and Woodbury often, I have noticed a decline with the overall service. Although our waiter was very good, the kitchen forgot an item or two. The hostesses are basically teenagers who don't really know what to do.

The ambiance was poor as the restaurant was very cold, people were eating with their jackets on. Becasue of the cold, we noticed the seating for the first time were basically very hard cafeteria seats. Food was good, not amazing, presentation of meals not what it used to be.

TIME FOR A MAKEOVER, LOSING ITS APPEAL....FOR THE PRICE NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE."

"The food was great, the service was great, but they don't know how to run a reservation line. I made a reservation and when I got there had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. We finally gave up and asked to be sat at the sushi bar."

"Sushi and Sashimi were fantastic. Spicy dishes aren't spicy if your think cayenne pepper sause is mild so ask for exra spicy. Meatball appetizer was a big hit with nonsushi lover, unfortunately soba noodle dish wasn't. Chicken was dried out and noodles had a strange texture. We also had an issue with the cocktail order but it was fixed quickly. Our waitress seemd cold and intimedating at first but she was friendlier as the evening progressed.

Great time overall as most of us enjoyed great sushi, sashimi and saki!"
