"I don't mind paying for good food. This was definately not worth it. Very disappointed! We were a party of nine and we ordered a few appetizers to start. Two dishes of olives, salami, mozzarella and a couple of breadsticks does not an $84 appetizer make. We would have definately walked out if it wasn't that we were a large party."

"The veggie pasta was outstanding! Loved that there were gluten free options (namely gluten free pasta), as this is important to both my mother and me. The scallops with green pea risotto were also very delicious. Overall, we had a great time and everyone enjoyed their meals. The complimentary bread and focaccia with pesto and whipped herb butter was especially notable - I just had one bite but wish I could have eaten more."

"My favorite restaurant in the North End. The best. We had a somewhat awkward waitress who could have checked in on us more bur this is not the norm. Usually the service is perfect just like the food! They honored our request for a great table by the window:). Will be back soon!"

"So many wonderful and interesting choices will delight any foodie. The signature duck in puff pastry with goat cheese is a must. We paired it with the homemade pasta and boar for an amazing appetizer combo. Probably the best lamb you will find in the Boston let alone the N. End."

"We had a 7:30 p.m. reservation and were seated the moment we arrived at a window seat on an evening when the doors to Hanover Street were open. It was lively. Service was prompt and attentive. We both had the pan-seared Halibut special with some tasty Sauvignon Blanc. The energy level of Lucca is one of the things that makes it a true experience. We were entertained by others, but could also get lost in our own conversation, enjoying some delicious food and each other. It was a wonderful date night."

"Lucca is an awesome restaurant. It was my first time, but i had the best experience. I am a vegetarian and they still had many options for me or were willing to create something for my mail meal. Everything was delicious. I forget our servers name, but she was very good. She was friendly, funny, made conversation and made it easy to interact with her. I went for a date night, overall great experience. Cant wait to go again!"

"We have been to Lucca's in the North End several times...and have never had a bad experience....good food, good wine, responsive wait staff. Atmosphere is a little energetic, but warm and friendly...great views with table windows out to Hanover Street...especially 'al fresco' in the warmer weather.
There food is good and inventive, and their prices reflect their pride in the food....but again, if you can afford it or want to treat yourself...its well worth it!"

"This place is one of the first you notice on Hanover Street as you head into the North End from downtown. It has great al fresco dining, fantastic food and a real North End ambience. The carpaccio appetizer was delicious with the whimsical variation of black garlic aioli and edamame on top. The lobster bucatini was amazing with a blend of bacon and lobster aioli with a generous amount of lobster in the dish - easily my favorite dish I've had here. The lamb shank and the swordfish special were solidly done. The 5-spice creme brulee was unusual but delicious, especially with a cappuccino. The service was good, but not great. Still, nothing to take away from the food and overall experience."

"High marks for the food, although a bit expensive. No regrets however, this is a quality restaurant and it is Boston. We'd do it again in a minute. Server was not quite as attentive as we would have liked, but more than acceptable. The out-of-town friends we were hosting were very pleased!
The manager was very helpful on the phone in directing us to a near-by parking garage where Lucca validates. Only cost us three bucks instead of the otherwise thirty."

"Very good food. Poor cocktail menu, with unresponsive and unhelpful server. Server did not make suggestion, was slow to bring cocktails (and later, wine) to the table, and was generally unfriendly. Also, they would not allow us to use more than 4 credit cards for the bill (we were a group of friends, party of 7). Once we did provide cash and 4 cards, they took almost 20 minutes to bring us our final checks. Very unhappy with the service.
Bread was delicious. House specialty appetizer (duck confit, onions, ricotta in a pastry shell) was outstanding. Papparadelle pasta as my entree was rich, tasty, and filling. Did not have dessert, but others in my group did, and they enjoyed it. Overall, a mediocre experience."

"We didn't know Lucca was participating in Restaurant Week because it was not on their website when I booked earlier in the week. I purposefully chose Lucca over some other North End recommendations because I didn't want the rushed and limited dining experience of Restaurant Week. However, I arrived and learned they were participating. We were rushed from the moment we sat own to the point where the waiter didn't request drink orders from everyone. I also should have checked the menu more closely because many of the entrees didn't appeal to me or my husband as we mostly eat chicken and fish. Out of four people only 1 enjoyed their meal and thought it was amazing because she had good pasta."

"I really enjoyed restaurant week at Lucca. We got a wonderful table right by the wine cellar which kept noise down and gave us the opportunity for intimate conversation. Food was served quickly. Ambience is great. Perfect for date night. Only hiccup was they gave us the wrong bill at first (which was nearly 3x our bill) and it took quite some time to sort it out. They were a little understaffed so occasionally I would ask for something and they would forget to come back with a response. I think this may have been more because it was busy restaurant week."

"I was very disappointed in our meal at Lucca, and I won't be back. The prosciutto appetizer featured limp prosciutto smothered in a red pepper salsa so that you couldn't taste anything else. The papperdelle pasta was also absolutely smothered in the bolognese sauce so that it just tasted like a bowl of sauce. The flourless chocolate cake was excellent.
For the amount of money we paid, I cannot believe the lack of expertise involved in preparing the dishes. Each one felt smothered and not up to gourmet standards. We won't be back."

"Our party of four had a wonderful experience at Lucca's. We had four different entrees all of which were excellent. The wait staff were present but not overbearing. Our waitress was well informed and responsive. We will return to Lucca's soon."

"The food was exceptional here. Everyone absolutely loved their entree. Unfortunately, the service was very slow and we waited 20 minutes past our reservation to sit down with no apology. It was also really cold by our table (in the middle of winter)."

"The service was good. The food and drink - - a different story. The Pappardelle had way too much super heavy tomato sauce and made it virtually impossible to taste any of the meat or even the basil. The Prosciutto app was pretty good but the Carpaccio lacked flavor. I really liked my second cocktail, which was nothing like the first cocktail I ordered. Surprising since it was the same drink.
Overall the scenery was great but the food/drink was similar to what we could have eaten at a chain restaurant in the suburbs (for considerably less $$)."

"The food at Lucca was decent, yet disappointing. Nothing special to say the least. But the big issue was the service. It was much too fast! Our appetizers came within three minutes of ordering them, were cleared away quickly and the entrees appeared moments later. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. At those prices ($100+ for two), this should have been a nice leisurely dining experience. We felt rushed, and yet it wasn't all that busy. I wouldn't go again."

"The convenience of valet parking really started off the night on the right foot. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine list and recommended perfect pairing wine for my meal and my boyfriends' meal. The pappardelle bolongese was amazing. I can't wait to return to Lucca!"

"We go to the North End 2-3 times a year. Never have had a poor experience until Lucca. Way too quick to serve (65 minutes in and out), waiter hovered, food was warm at best and really was not noteworthy. Only big thing was the bill. North End has great food at big prices. That's expected. Don't waste your time and money at Lucca."

"Made and received confirmation of reservation for 3, but when we arrived we were escorted to a table for 2. They quickly accommodated us at another table. It was a very busy night, yet our server was attentive and allowed us to take our time reading the menu. The food was delicious. We started with the grilled calamari and carpaccio, both wonderful,however, the bread they served was a dissappointment (of course its free) but it did not compare to the quality of food on the menu. For entrees, we ordered the bucatini with lobster, the chicken with sage polenta, and the rigatoni with wild boar. Each dish was outstanding, with just the right amount of seasoning. Dessert we shared the creme brule and molten chocolate cake. Very nice."

"We went here on Valentine's Day and for one of the busiest nights of the year, the service was great. We had a reservation for 7pm and were immediately seated and the waitress was pleasant. The restaurant was full but I still felt that our dinner was intimate. However, the most disappointing part of the evening was the food. For an appetizer, we had ordered the grilled calamari. The dish was okay, not very exciting or flavorful. For dinner, I had ordered the salmon over lentils. The salmon was way too salty and the lentils bland. For the price, I think the food should have been much better. My partner ordered the steak, which he said was average. I was not impressed and will try somewhere else in the North End next time."

"The food was great, as was the service. My girlfriend's pasta dish was amazing, and my pork chop was also quite good. Overall, the atmosphere was just very cheesy, but this also had to do with the fact that it was on Valentine's Day. We spent half the night laughing (mostly at the folks around us), feeling like we were in a chick flick, but serves us right for getting a reservation in the North End on Valentine's Day."

"Excellent dining experience. North End charm, reasonable prices for a special night, excellent wine list. Service was very friendly, but could have offered suggestions on food and wine (could be daunting for people who AREN"T foodies). Hovered a little (I can refill my own wine glass), but very pleasant and prompt. Great atmosphere, would be a little loud if you have reserved non city folk, but for my date and I it was totally fine. STELLAR host service. We arrived 20 min late and they had our table waiting."

"on a saturday night, they were out of chicken, fish, and the wine by the glass we selected.

"This was our first visit to Lucca as it was recommended by a North End native. We were seated in front of the window and watched as Hanover Street transformed into a Melting Pot of all different worlds walking the busy street.
The wait staff was curtious and extremely friendly. We ended up taking his recommendations for a lamb dish and a pasta with Boar. The lamb fell off the bone, it was so tender. The dishes were a perfect serving size that neither of us felt stuffed or bloated.
If your looking for a quiet restaraunt I would not recommend Lucca's. This has a very energetic atmosphere so if you like to laugh loud and have lots of conversations if dining with friends, this is the place for you!"

"Not worth the price. There are 50 other restaurants in the north end and this one just doesn't have the value compared to others. Food just isn't better to justify higher price even on pasta dishes into the mod twenties."
