Nestled on the corner of Connecticut and Florida Avenues, this inspired Russian restaurant and lounge is evocatively reminiscent of the era of the Tsars. The Russian-European elegance of the Russia House offers a uniquely warm and comfortable meeting place for anyone appreciative of its friendly and intimate coziness. It is the perfect meeting place for the true Washington socialite. The Russian-infused intercontinental cuisine pleases the most refined palate with such nouveau-traditional entrees as the Beef Stroganoff and the Chicken Kiev. Further true to tradition, the Russia House features an impressive selection of caviars and one of the largest vodka collections in Washington, D.C.
"Food, service and atmosphere was excellent. We always dine at Russia House when we're in D. C. This was our third time in 4 years. it was better than I remembered. Elk sausage is a must try. Vodka flight is always fun."

"Parking not good. We called to ask about parking and received no reply and this created a huge problem for us. We feel that the rooms were very dark and in need of housekeeping. Food and drinks for the atmosphere of this restaurant was way too expensive. We would not recommend this restaurant to any friends."

"The food at Russia house is exceptional (even if you don't partake of the vodka or caviar -- both of which are available in amazing quantity and variety). The borsch, blinis (especially the duck and wild mushroom), perogis, heirloom pork, and arctic char are all fantastic. The service is friendly and efficient. The decor could use a face lift, but it's comfortable and clean. We have been there 3 times and will definitely be back."

"Sergei gave great service. Best choice if vodka in DC. Love the borsch and Olivier salad was also delicious. I had a wonderful view on the window to the corner of Florida and Connecticut. My favorite restaurant in DC."

"Was quiet on a Wed night, although bar looked to be getting full when we left. Our waitress was a wonderful young woman, recently moved here from Serbia. She was very friendly and very helpful with the menu. There is an EXTENSIVE vodka menu, she helped us pick 6 for our sampler, to sip throughout the meal. had the blinis to initiate ourselves to caviar - sevruga and red salmon. These are the apps to get to "say" you've eaten caviar, not to really have caviar as an appetizer. Were good, alot of sour cream. The borsch was fantastic. The elk was one of the most tender pieces of meat we'd ever tried, cooked perfectly. Stroganoff was also flavorful. Had the fruit/cheese filled blinis for dessert, just average. Overall great experience."

"We have walked by Russia House scores of times over the years but had never eaten there until recently. I'm glad we went, for the experience - but it was a mixed bag. Pros: Our server was very attentive and helpful in explaining the menu and making recommendations, and the vodka list must be one of the most extensive ones in the US. Cons: it was super-loud, and the food was only so-so."

"At a late-evening dinner, we had excellent borsch, then beef stroganoff, elk, shishlik, and chicken Kiev--all very tasty and nicely presented. Decadent chocolate lava bombe and blueberry/cheese blinis topped it off. Our waiter was heavily accented, but friendly, helpful, and impressively well informed on the offerings. The feeling was 4-0 in favor of a return visit. The only downside was the necessity of street parking, not an easy task on Friday night. Take the Metro or a cab if you can."

"We always enjoy this restaurant. This time we tried to make a reservation a few days in advance of a Sat. night. We requested a 6pm reservation and Open Table told us that the only opening was 5pm. We were not excited for that on a Sat night, but we took it because our guests really wanted to eat at this restaurant. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 5pm. After enjoying our meal, we left around 7:15pm. The restaurant was still less than 50% full. We wondered why we could not get a 6pm reservation."

"Went to RH to try it out and had a great dinner. The vodka flight (there must be 80) was perfectly chosen (and not a hangover to be found). The shots are large and the presentation beautiful.
The building is interesting, and we were seated downstairs where it was quiet. The other floors were alive - and I and my wife have been looking for for a long time for a lounge with upholstered seating - and this is the place.
The food was all delicious. The Pelmini was to die for, and the blini's - especially the duck - scrumptious."

"Three of us had a wonderful dinner. Two ordered elk and the third ordered shashlik. The meat was exceptionally well prepared, as were the vegetables, and everything was beautifully presented. Caviar blinis as appetizers were good, although not outstanding. The waitress was attentive, knowledgable, and very pleasant; she had excellent suggestions for both vodka and wine. The vodka list consists of 120+ different kinds of vodka. The decor is sort of faded Romanov -- lots of red and gilt, but a little past its prime. Don't let the decor stop you; the dinner was really a treat."

"The food was good, but the service was excellent! Our waiter was friendly, attentive and well-versed with respect to the wines and vodkas. The Chicken Kiev is most certainly a favorite, but the vast list of vodkas are more than enough of a reason to visit this gem over and over again."

"We had a reservation for 7:45 but our table was not available. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. We were not offered any form of restitution. Very bad service in that regard. Why take a reservation if you can't keep it? We will not be going back."

"This was our third visit to Russia House and I will tell you, this has to be one of the best experiences someone can have eating out in the DC area. The service is impeccable. Your waiter may leave the dining room for a moment only to reappear with the water pitcher or to take an empty glass away. The wait staff will spend as much time as necessary to go over all of the vodkas on the menu, taking time to point out the nuances in each variety. Everything on the menu is prepared with a velvet glove. Take your time and enjoy the experience that is the Russia House. We absolutely recommend a visit there."

"Great food and vodka selection. As a purist, I was pleased with some of the vodka variety, but straight, plain shots should be the suggestion to match with dinner. The bar upstairs was nice too."

"My husband and I went to Russia House for Valentine's Day. It was the first time for the both of us. I am half Ukrainian and love all types of international food, but Slavic food is very dear to my heart and finding authentic food can be a scary adventure because it never really tastes that authentic. That night they created a Valentine's day menu, which I wasn't sure about, but still picked something for myself and my husband. We loved all our courses. The food didn't taste that authentic, BUT it was VERY good - nicely seasoned, well presented. The waitress was very nice and had a great demeanor. I would definitely go back again."

"Went there for my girlfriend's birthday. I used open table to let them know it was her birthday and the staff flattered her with complements as soon as she came in and during the meal. They brought out a free desert with candle as well. Excellent duck and the appetizers were good as well. Definitely a good place for a special occasion."
