After ten award-winning years at the Dallas Galleria, Nicola's relocated a few miles north to continue satisfying metroplex appetites for classic Italian Rustica cuisine. "Restaurant is under new management according to the waitstaff. Menu appears to be unchanged, and food quality is as great as ever. Dallas is deficient in good Italian restaurants, and Nicola's has been one of our favorites. One of the few places were pasta is freshly made and cooked properly. However, service was mediocre. Menus were not picked up until after the appetizer arrived. It's hard to eat when you're still holding the menu. Orders for entrees were taken late, oil and vinegar were poured improperly (why not have dispensers at the table so patrons can pour their own?), a virgin daquiri was substituted for a virgin bellini, and a single espresso was delivered rather than the doppia that was ordered"

"The food here was amazing and the portion sizes were more normal than at some restaurants. I had a booth in the back and the ambiance was very romantic and picturesque. The only negative I would have to say is the pattern on the fabric of the booths messes with my eyes. It's a pocadot pattern that encompasses your entire field of view so when you change what you're looking at it plays tricks on your eyes."

"Nicola's always delivers on the food. The risk you run is service. The last time we were there, we went pretty big ($150+) on a single bottle of wine, had apps, and desert. We're the sort of table that tips very well and appreciates good service. Despite this, our server gave us what I can only describe as cursory service. Her loss. We've had other wait staff there do an outstanding job, but we've also had this experience before as well. It's this inconsistency that keeps Nicola's out of our regular rotation - on a high volume night, you aren't necessarily going to get quality service. It's particularly disapointing given the combination of quality and accessability (suitable for non-adventurous eaters and big groups) of the food."

"Definitely fit for foodies. The simple Prosciutto with roasted pear was very good. Italian bread salad (lots of big pieces of veggies) was good. We'll go back! Svc. notes: Mezz. seating is a +, but it was way too warm for us. Nice job of reseating us! Maria was very helpful and I will request her when we return. Overall service: our waiter was attentive, but rushed (6:30 res on Sat). Surprised when a runner delivered our first course, but then failed to pick up our used app plates & silverware. Asked the mngr, who asked how our meal was, to remove the plates. (We may be a bit 'snobby', but I think anyone would have wanted the plates removed by the time we asked.) No employee should return to the kitchen empty handed."

"I went there for Valentines Day and I had a great experience. We had a superb light red wine from the Piedmonte region of Italy. It paired well with our pasta dishes. My wife and I really enjoyed it and will be back again. The molten chocolate cake and cannoli ended the meal well."

"My daughter and I went before the Daddy/Daughter Dance in Frisco and we loved it. The food was great and the service was top notch. Although they don't have a specific "kid's menu", they will happily make "kid's portion" of their regular menu. While this won't be helpful to those with kids conditioned to eat chicken fingers and mac/cheese every time they go out, my daughter felt like a grown up choosing off the adult menu. It worked out great!"

"food was great. waiter was not on his game. He left us for long periods of time after dinner until the check. "The food was excellent! We have added this to our favorites list for the family! The only thing that would have been better was for it to be a bit quieter. The music was a bit too loud, so patrons were having to talk louder to make themselves heard. Lower the music level and the overall volume should decrease. "For this level of restaurant and the amount we spent, the service should have been much better. We had to ask for bread at the table more than once before we finally received any. One person at our table ordered a set menu with wine pairings but the wines were not brought out with the first two courses. We had to ask for them and even after our waiter brought them he did not tell us what they were. Finally, we ordered dessert but our waiter never suggested or offered coffee, tea or an after dinner liquor. The service was a disappointment but the food was okay. We won't be back."

"Service started out great, food was very good and the amount was perfect and the price reasonable. "The food at this restaurant is just okay. The calamari fritti was on the overcooked side, a little rubbery. The pasta was cooked well, but the flavors of the sauce were just okay. The veal dish was also just okay. There's nothing special about the meal. Also, they seated us by a door and a cold draft came in throughout the meal. We didn't realize it was a door until we were getting up to leave. Our server's recommendations for the veal dish didn't deliver. I've definitely had better Italian food elsewhere and will probably not come back again."

"Soup arrived lukewarm and had to be sent back. New bowls arrived steaming. Shrimp and salmon in handkerchief pasta was chewy and bland; also not very hot. Other two meals were deemed delicious. Waiter was very likeable and accommodating. Very pretty restaurant, but cold draft from the door even though we weren't in direct exposure."

"We dined on December 23rd. The service was outstanding. I went with every recommendation suggested by our server and he was spot on. The only disappointment was the wine list. But we made do with a very nice Amarone style wine. We will return!"

"We were seated immediately upon arrival (made reservations for that time). Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone in our party of five really enjoyed their meals. Cozy ambience. The view of the outside trees lit with Christmas lights was pretty. We will definitely go to Nicola's again."

"I have been to this restaurant several times and found the food to be just above average. My husband is not a fan as he does not eat seafood, and the last three times we dined the all of the specials were seafood. It is not listed as a seafood restaurant, however a large percent of the menu dished are seafood based. The meat based dishes are average, but expensive. The pasta dishes average too, and the tomato based sauces very tart. The restaurant benefits from being in an excellent location, and the bar generally has a good atmosphere. For us this is becoming more of a bar than a main dining restaurant."

"On a personal recommendation from Nicola's Chef Sascia Marchesi we ordered the roasted pork with asparagus and polenta and the pumpkin ravioli in a pomegranate reduction sauce. The pumpkin ravioli was divine and the roasted pork was buttery smooth.

Nicola's is in a fairly trendy area however the food and portions at Nicola's are robust and stand on their own merit; very reasonably priced, great ambiance with attentive staff (Jessica is a splendid waitress) yet not overbearing. The bar was somewhat lively yet not obtrusive or loud.

Overall a very pleasant experience - one that my wife and I will remember and certainly repeat in the near future.

"Service was very slow and when the food arrived it was not very good. With 2 kids it took almost 2 hours to eat dinner. It took a little over an hour to receive our side salads. Manager never came over even after we complained. Even after we received the check we told the waitress she left something off even though we shouldn't have to pay for it, and she responded with "oh, let me add it on". She never acknowledged how bad service was."

"As always, the food was very good!!! I had the Fusilli with shrimp in a white wine sauce and loved it. The homemade pasta really "makes" the dish. My husband had the special, pumpkin ravioli with a mascarpone cream sauce. The ravioli was very good but the sauce was a little too rich for his taste. Dessert was also very good. We have had the tiramisu before but tried the cannoli and it is our new favorite dessert here. The fresh berries and strawberry sauce were a great addition to the cannoli.Make sure you request a booth if avaiable...very cozy and romantic."
