"Serving sizes are good - both appetizers and entrees. The Beet and Goat Cheese Salad was very fresh, tasty and big enough for two people. The Elk dish was good but the beef rib dish was much better - both meats were nice and tender.
Overall the service was good but not exceptional.
If you are dining around sundown, you may want to stay away from the window tables - the sun shines in and becomes rather hot."

"This was the second time we have been to Bavarian Inn Restaurant and, as with the first time, service was slow. There seems to be a lack of enough staff, etc. I'm not sure what the problem is. When we arrived, both times, very slow to have someone seat us and when we were seated, very slow to get our order in. Actually had to flag someone down to take our orders after 20 minutes. Hire more staff!! Food is very good - shame about the slow service."

"Where else can you enjoy the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, the serenity of crystal clear waters, cascading water falls and pampered fine dining except in Bragg Creek? We enjoyed Pacific Coast Salmon, Wiener Schnitzel a nice glass of wine and a Warm Walnut Stout Chocolate Brownie that was astounding. We were escorted to our car by three deer who hated to see us go. What can I say? It is always a pleasurable dining experience at the Bavarian Inn."

"We enjoyed the beautiful drive out to Bragg Creek from SW Calgary to find at our destination this wonderful restaurant. We were welcomed outside by the happy owner who was genuine in his greeting. We ordered traditional and authentic German food, and the rest of the menu also looked excellent with seasonal inspiration. As we ate deer walked past the window and they were near the parking lot grazing as we left. Our server was attentive and polite, letting us relax with our delicious meal, but being available with a glance. All of the food that passed our table going to other customers made me want to come back, very soon. There was a dessert that looked amazing too!"

"My review of the Bavarian are the results from (2) visits. The first was lunch and our second was for dinner (anniversary celebration). My wife and I give this place a thumbs up on both occasions. High quality of food in a quaint and quiet location. For the quality of food, the price is probably less that what you would pay in the city limits of Calgary. Excellent place to escape from the big city and get out to the mountains for a very good meal!"

"My husband and I dined with friends on Saturday, April 20th at the Bavarian Inn. A spring snowstorm was occurring and although we were all tired of winter, it was picturesque to be watching from inside, where we were all cozy and warm and enjoying the great food and ambiance of the restaurant. Our meals were delicious and our server was very attentive and friendly.
We look forward to another visit and will recommend 'The Bavarian Inn' to our friends."

"The food was outstanding! Some of the best wiener schnitzel I have ever had, the duck was quite good as well. I appreciate the fact that they do traditional iced tea instead of sweetened store bought iced tea.

"We dine at the Bavarian Inn frequently and have never been disappointed. This was no exception - the food and service were excellent. We were there on a Tuesday and had reserved for 7:30. Being there on a weekday we found the restaurant was only half full and nice and quiet."

"If you like breaded or natural schnitztel, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The spatzel is very light and tasty. The traditional veal schnitztel and the Jager Pork medallions are the best I've had outside of Germany! The staff is also very accommodating for large groups. They phoned me directly to confirm my reservation and the number of adults and children. Very considerate. Will plan on returning soon!"

"We chose from the fixed price menu. We had the maultaschen (stuffed veal dumplings) and prawns with couscous and greens. Both were delicious. The mains were both tasty, as well. My partner had the elk with sour cherry sauce and I had the pork schnitzel. The elk was tender and the schnitzel arrived hot and crispy. Wasn't fussy about the spaetzle, it was a bit overdone and a little burnt. I would have liked a little sauce for the spaetzle and schnitzel. For dessert my partner had the apple strudel and I ordered the ice cream with a warm raspberry sauce. Scrumptious. Overall a very good meal. Wine is a little overpriced, though. A domestic 9 oz. glass of white wine is $13."

"We had no idea the restaurant would be so busy on a Tuesday night, so our service was pretty slow. Nowhere on the website does it state that you must phone in ahead of time if you want the 5-course dinner, so we were disappointed. Then my husband's choice of entree was not available and we didn't find out about that until some time after ordering, so that made the meal even slower. They did give us a free entree for our long wait and we can't fault that. The waiter wasn't aware of some of the details, so brought the wrong beer first, but that was cleared up. The bill was wrong -- charged us full price for our soups and neglected to charge for my wine. Just a bit sloppy, but probably because of all the unexpected coupon customers."

"This restuarant has a cozy ambience. Windows are small therefore not much of a view, being that it's in Bragg Creek. Including appetizer, entree, and dessert in general we did not feel it was made fresh. The batter or breading on the schnizel was falling off and soft. As though it was premade. The steak was good but a little tough. The strudel was not crisp. A little soggy. The wine by the glass was 9 to 11 dollars. We did not order any wine. Without any drinks except for tea our bill was 130 dollars with the tip automatically on the bill. 15%. This is much too high for the quality of the food."

"I've been going to this restaurant off and on for a number of years now. I was slightly disappointed this last time, because for my wife's birthday, we got the Chef's Tasting. I would've expected a far more German bent to the Chef's Tasting in a German restaurant. Alas, this was not the case, and so I was left wanting. The food was good, don't get me wrong... I just expected more German, less ... flair?"

"The food is always amazing at the Bavarian Inn. My family has been going there almost once a month for many years! It has always been fantastic and we were a bit suspect when new owners took over, but it has been fabulous! The menu has changed slightly but everything is delicious and the update has been really welcome."

"The Bavarian Inn is a Bragg Creek gem. Warm, inviting and friendly, the staff are first class and the food is, if anything getting better. We have been going to the Bavarian for eight years and it is by far our favorite Bragg Creek restaurant. The schnitzels are to die for and the extensive local game menu is stunning."

"The waiter was very friendly and helpful. A mistake was made when the waiter placed the food order with the kitchen so one of the meals was wrong and had to be redone. That meant that one of us had to wait for it to be remade. To compensate for this the glass of wine was not charged to the bill. This made us feel good about the experience."

Enjoyed the QUIET relaxed environment - we were able to have an enjoyable conversation without yelling to be heard (unlike visiting any Calgary restaurant)! The food was amazing -- presentation and taste was excellent. Waiter very attentive. Overall a great dining experience, and we'll be back!"
