Come and see the new Ca' Brea and enjoy the aromas & flavors of Italy prepared by Antonio Tommasi, chef and founder of Locanda Veneta, Ca Del Sole, Il Moro, and Allegria. Open since 1990, Ca' Brea is renowned as one of L.A.'s finest dining destinations for superior service, creative cuisine, outstanding atmosphere and comfort. Ca' Brea is now the permanent home of Antonio Tommasi, who is "one of the best and most creative of our Italian chefs" (Gourmet Magazine), and has been a recipient of numerous award & nomination including Restaurateur of the year, master chef of the year, etc. The essence of Ca' Brea is straightforward and simple: authentic, yet innovative Italian food and Venetian cuisine. The kind of food you want to eat every day, at the prices that allow you to do so. Many of the Tommasi trademarks remain: a vast open kitchen and the kind of simple, yet sophisticated food that makes you fee like you have stepped out of urban Los Angeles, onto an ancient Venetian canal.
"i booked on opentable after speaking to the restaurant via telephone. knowing it was mother's day i wanted to be sure that we'd be able to order off the brunch menu (mom wanted carbonara). i was told that the regular brunch was going to be available on mother's day until 2:30 and booked for 2:00. we were seated at 2:00 on the dot and were told that the brunch menu was not available. there was a lot of confusion with the wait staff concerning the menu and after dithering and making us wait until well after 230, we were told that we were too late to eat off the brunch menu. while the food we ordered off the dinner menu was very tasty, i will not bring guests i want to impress again to cabrea. their front of house needs to get it together."

"we have eaten at Ca Brea for years and then let more than a year go by before we returned for lunch. I booked a table since it was always jammed, but didn't need to. We, and another couple, were the only people there on a Friday! The room had a vague smell of disinfectant and, on a warm day, with the patio door open, we heard the lovely music of the tree trimmers. We both had our old favorite salads which were overdressed and lifeless. The bread and tapenade were wonderful. With only two tables, we had to call the server, who was wearing jeans, a sparkly tee and a sweat-type jacket, to take our order, refresh our drinks and get us the check. Where has the old Ca Brea gone?"

"Always a favorite when I lived in LA, I made Ca'Brea the dinner spot on this recent trip down from Seattle with my boyfriend. Celebrated his birthday and a friend's moving away and we all agreed it was an excellent choice. Food was excellent too, BTW!"

"Nothing went right. Wrong drinks came, brought out the wrong salad, salmon was ordered with sauce on the side no potatoes - it came drowning in sauce with potatoes. Not our best experience including the owner saying that reservations were not necessary as it was a big restaurant."

"Upon arriving and advising I booked through Open Table, I was advised that they do not show the booking from Open Table and I was to contact Open Table. What is that about?"

"Horrible.... Should have saved 100.00 and have gone to Denny's. This place had it day but those days over long over. I am sorry to write this, but We were so disappointed and digusted. We wish we would have left. It is not fair that they have a 4 star on Opentable.com. Way off."
