"We were seated in a corner booth facing the lake, nice feeling of privacy and a beautiful view. My husband and I shared a salad, soup, and dinner entrée. The Caloola soup (a blend of kale, coconut milk, and ginger) was excellent as was the Mahi entrée. The shrimp salad was good but the dressing nondescript. There were no gluten-free desserts, but we were quite satisfied after our 3-course meal."

"I took my family there for Mothers Day...It was so embarrasing.....We sat down and it was at least 15-20 minutes before the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink. Then the Mothers Day menu was so weird, so I asked if we could just order a burger off of the mail menu if we wanted....He said absolutely not, that we had to stick to the menu that was presented to us. Only 1 person wanted a burger, so should not have been a big deal....The food was horrible....Everyone complained about how bad everything was.The waiter pretty much forgot about us most of the time.....I had to get up to find out where he was since we waited so long for the check, and then, they added 20% gratuity to it!!"

"The Beach Cafe has a terrific location. We thought it was a natural for Mother's Day. I made reservations thinking it would be packed but it was moderately busy. There was no brunch, there were no flowers on the table and no one greeted my wife with a "Happy Mother's Day".
We were seated at a nice table and waited for 10 minutes before being approached. The menu was sparse, the food was good but the presentation was poor. I ordered a waffle that had a glop of some kind of compote dumped on it. I prefer butter and syrup and would have appreciated the option to add the compote from a side containter. My wife did not see anything on the menu and only ordered coffee. What a bust.

"We were delighted to be seated immediately on a busy day. It took some prompting to get napkins and table settings after our coffee was served. Two of us had Bloody Marys. They seemed watered down; but not having had one there before, I don't know if that was their norm for that drink. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Ham and egg breakfast was excellent. Two orders were forgotten, chowder to compliment a salad and extra crab with a benedict. We will probably eat here again as it seems like a nice friendly restaurant. We'd like to find out how the service is on a not-so-busy day."

"We arrived around 4p on Saturday for an early dinner. Food was very good (wife had the Tilapia, I had the Salmon). There were also nice choices for our son although he stayed with the mini-cheeseburgers. The service was not very good at this time slot as apparently the staff was changing over. It took 10 minutes before someone came over to seat us and then another 15 for someone to just take our drink order. All in all, the location and food would make us go back again, just bring your patience or go at a better time of the day."

"Met a colleague at the Beach Cafe for lunch the other day. It was sunny, so our view was nice. We had lots to visit about, so that was good because the service was unbelievably slow. We had been there for almost an hour before our uncomplicated entrees arrived. My friend asked for a roll or piece of bread to go with his salad & our server told us they had no rolls....even though my sandwich was served on a ciabatta type roll. We mentioned that to him & he said he would see if they had one. By the time he returned, my friend was done with his salad. They must've been short staffed. A disappointing meal experience."

"I have been a fairly regular Beach Cafe customer since I moved to this neighborhood over 4 years ago - used to LOVE it. The menu and service has changed recently and I was very disappointed on my last visit there. While many restaurants are moving towards more gluten-free options, the Beach Cafe is going in the opposite direction. I found very few gluten-free options on the new menu and they were not able to modify in order to accomodate me. Also the wait times were very long - to get seated (even though I had a reservation), for the server to come and for the food to arrive. We waited a full hour after our reservation time before there was any food on the table! The view by the water is beautiful but overall I was very disappointed."

"The experience from reservation to departure was not worth the great sunset. I'll never be back. I left a note on my reservation that wasn't read, I called twice, and my call wasn't returned. I dropped by, and the true nature of the reservation wasn't explained. When we arrived, we encountered three other parties that were expressing the same frustration over reservations and expectations. The hostess made an honest effort to resolve things. One of the wait-staff threw a childish fit on the lawn, to which multiple diners stood up and told her to gain some perspective. She never came back (thankfully). The manager, though we saw him in the restaurant, never dropped by to mitigate or apologize. Skip it."

"It was a great first experience, although it was EXTREMELY busy. So people were having to turn away at the door due to the +1hr wait, if they didn't have reservations.Once we were seated the service was longer than expected. But the food made up for it!

"Want to give the restaurant 5 stars but can't-- the night we were there the restaurant was overwhelmed. Weather was perfect AND it was Cinco de Mayo. Hostess and waiter were attentive, we were seated quickly (thanks to our reservation as the wait was 45 minutes) at a nice table with a view of Lake Washington...but it took our entree over an hour to arrive.
Restaurant comped our dinners, which was awesome. But I was ready to chew my hand off by the time it came.
We will definitely be back, though. Food was good, although I can't tell if it tasted especially good as I was ravenous (I had the tilapia and hubby had fish and chips), bar drinks were yummy. Hopefully next time meal will arrive more promptly."

"We went to the Beach Café for a team lunch to enjoy the outside on a sunny Friday. I've been to there many times before and will return, but it's not a good place for a large group, especially for outdoor seating. First, they only have small tables for up to 6. We had 7, so it was tight, but we squeezed together. Second, they tack on an obligatory 20% for groups 6 or more. I don't mind the amount, but want the choice. In this case, service was very poor. Lastly, I can't recommend their burger. It's basically just frozen patties. Tacos were pretty good and some of the other dishes. Calamari appetizer was really small though."

"Our waiter did a fine job. Both couples had Passport cards, and there seemed to be some confusion regarding what items to take off the tab. One of our guests had soup and an appetizer which is not considered a main course. Our waiter consulted his manager and explained to us what the procedure was but gave us the lowest two main courses deleted from our check. We appreciated that and will know what Beach Café policy is regarding the Passport cards the next time we dine.
Two of us had fish plates, the mahi-mahi with fruit salsa and the coconut baked tilapia. Both were excellent and I'd have them again upon our return."

"Although the breakfast/lunch menu is limited, the options were all good. My husband ordered hash and eggs and the hash had squash in it and it was very good. The home fried potatoes were well seasoned. The sun was out and we had a beautiful view of Lake Washington. Our service that day was not good. When we got there it was not busy and it still took a long time to get a cup of coffee (my americano was luke-warm) and then to get our food."

"I have been enjoying this establishment for many years and always am pleased with the service and consistently good food. Occasionally there is a change in the kitchen, and the new chef brings something new and special and always the result has been good. I cannot think of a better place to entertain clients, or just enjoy a quality meal with friends. It also has excellent parking free from the weather."

"Despite arriving ten minutes before our OpenTable reservation time, my party of six wasn't seated for forty minutes. This occurred the hostesses game our table to another party of six who walked in with no reservation.
The entire hostess desk is a bit of a mess. It's a combination of a computerized system, names listed on paper, pagers, and not keeping it up to date.
Because they had to scramble to get us a table, they put us in the area of a waiter who was already overloaded. Since my party was six, he was guaranteed a 18% gratuity no matter what he did. He didn't do much. We saw him at order time and when it was time to pay the $110 bill.
At least the food was decent."

"It was my anniversary and we were both so amazed at how fast our food was ready.. Loved the atmosphere and we sat next to the window so we were able to watch the Sun set.. The waiter was marvelous.. I am planning a girls day for us to go out and enjoy the weather"

"I have been going to the Beach Cafe for a number of years, and have not been too impressed, but have always enjoyed a good glass of beer or wine, and some light snacks. This time I went there with my wife for dinner and was very disappointed. We learned that they just came out with a new menu. Well, the $8 chip+salsa+guacamole was mediocre--described as "fried fresh tortillas", but they were cold and tasted flat. The waiter did bring fresh warm ones after I mentioned it, but the taste was still not there. Both my wife's and my dinner were mediocre, bland, with very little flavor. The service was very good, but the food was very bad. I might go back to enjoy a cold beer in the outdoor patio, but definitely NOT for dinner."

"Much improved since the last time I was there. The chop salad with fresh mozzarella is very good. My only suggestion is to improve upon the rolls offered. With so many good bakeries in the Seattle area a better selection of bread or rolls would be appreciated."

"We were placed at a table that was toward the back of the restaurant and out of the line of sight of our waiter which equated to less than average service. We requested water 3 times and each time the waiter acted as if it were the first request. We finally received water at our fourth request. The same can be said of our coffee refill requests as well as our food delivery. Our food was delivered barely warm and it was evident our food sat waiting for someone to deliver it to us. I would recommend somewhere better for a weekend brunch. The scenic view did not make up for the lack of service."

"Great place for lunch, especially when it's warm and you can sit outside. Nice staff, wonderful views and the food is good. A little pricey for a normal lunch but when you want something a little special this is the spot. Make a reservation, this place can get crowded."

"It's located at the marina at Carillon Point. I've been here in the summer and sat outdoors. It has a beautiful view of the water even when I went for Valentine's Day. It wasn't crowded. I had the best grilled salmon I've ever had here!"

"Our food was delicious! We had Sunday brunch and we were very surprised at the quality and flavor. Unique flavors with a good variety of menu options.
What wasn't so hot was the service. Our server brought what we ordered and the food was hot, but it took a lonnnggg time to make any sort of contact with her. She was polite and all, but never just walked by to see if we wanted anything or to refresh our beverages. As a result, our meal took so long we ended up having to pay (some) for parking. Not a big deal, but it tells me the meal took a lot longer than we planned.
I've had good service here before. Maybe it was a fluke. Still, the food was tasty."
