Our dining room has a warm, comfortable feeling as well and you can hear jazz here on weekend nights. Breakfast and lunch are served daily and dinner is available six nights a week, so the restaurant serves both business and casual crowds. Our neighborhood bistro offers an upscale menu and delivers great food and friendly surroundings. Outdoor patio, take-out, jazz entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.
"The reservation process was easy and very convenient. The brunch experience was disappointing. I would offer a few suggestions: a) possibly have two seating schedules thereby allowing for the staff to be changed and for the food to be prepared better. The staff was very friendly but visibly tired and in need of a break. B) If the one seating schedule is continued then I would suggest lowering the price for the later seatings; the food was not prepared very well and there were items that were unavailable or required and wait period."

"It is always a wonderful experience when we dine at Brutti's. The staff always goes out of their way to make our time exceptional. On this particular occasion, the chef realized a mistake that was UNINTENTIONALLY made, corrected it, and then offered it to us at no charge. She was so apologetic for something that was a simple mistake, but she went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of. Unfortunately, this is not the norm at other restaurants, and I will continue to come and speak highly of Brutti's. Thank you!"

"Visited for Sunday Brunch & the staff was very welcoming! Food tasted great & our waitress was wonderful. Price is slightly high for our region but overall it was a nice experience"

"Our 7 pm dinner reservation was not needed as the place was quiet. But by the time we left, the place was starting to fill up. We got the feeling that Brutti's was a local's place that enjoyed a late-night crowd. This left the restaurant perfect for a quiet and romantic dinner on a Saturday night. Our medium rare Steak au Poivre was cooked perfectly. The Caesar Salad was crisp and cool. The Rosemary Focaccia was light and fresh and melted in our mouths. Our waiter was attentive. The decor and atmosphere were cool and the High Street/Court Street location in Portsmouth puts you right in the nicest part of Old Town Portsmouth. We had a truly lovely dinner. Made a great date night."

"This restaurant is VERY overpriced for the quality of the food they are serving. We paid $25 for completely burned black $10 steak. If the prices were half of what they are, we might go back but we spent $80 for a very mediocre meal. No way. You just can't justify it in this economy. Overpriced, food, overpriced drinks and appetizers (that were obviously previously frozen - not prepared fresh). Lovely location and atmosphere, wish we could say something wonderful, but we just can't."

"Went for Valentine's Day dinner at 8:30. Not a very good experience to say the least. Not enough bread for appetizer dip. No Caesar dressing for Caesar salad. Beef tenderloin came out burned and cold. Also, all out of vanilla cake dessert. So, in turn forced to eat only the chocolate option for dessert. Overall experience was very disappointing."

"We usually go to Brutti's for breakfast or brunch and are always happy with the quality of food, so decided to try their special Valentine's 4-course dinner. Big mistake. Meat was tough, vegetables were almost raw and instead of a quiet, romantic dinner scene, a big-screen TV had a murder trial on and also oldies were playing songs from the 60s at the same time - not even original artists singing! Must say the service was good and we really enjoyed the desserts. Otherwise, very disappointed."

"this experience was a complete disaster. disappointing because I had been here once before and enjoyed myself. I hope that it had everything to do with the fact that it was Valentines Day and maybe the staff had been overworked. but, even still, someone in a position of authority should have been vigilant and accounted for that in some way. we had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation. that put us as the last party for the night. they had ran out of a good amount of items that were featured on the specialty menu (the only menu being served for the night) and began to 'substitute' with whatever they had in the back without notifying us. (i.e.: switching ceaser dressing for ranch...didnt think we'd notice?!). skimp portions, overall- a mess"

"We are semi-annual patrons of Brutti's in Portsmouth, VA and we decided to have our "Valentine's Day" dinner there this year.
The menu was limited to a four-course, pick-from-a-list, one-price-fare event that seemed efficient enough. However, the food was served barely warm by an over-burden waiter that was training a clueless waiter-in-training...on Valentine's Day!
My lovely bride returned her tepid crab-cakes and they were returned "re-microwaved" warm but dry condition. Instead of having a romantic dinner, we spent that evening getting the waiter's attention and getting a handle on food temperature.
There were many complaints within earshot and I suspect I am not the only one that was dissatisfied.
Rocco"

"Dinner out on Valentine's Day is often sub-par. Too many people, rushed servers, and limited selections are the norm. While Brutti's did only offer a limited selection at a fixed price (4 courses for ~$30), the food was great, its a wonderful place and the service was outstanding. We routinely go there for their Sunday brunch buffet (which is also really good), but Valentine's evening at Brutti's was one of the best we've had in Hampton Roads in years. We will start going to dinner there more often."

"We visited Brutti's for their Valentine's Day special limited menu four course dinner. Our experience was not up to the standards of previous visits.
The food was hit or miss. Apps and dessert were great, the salad was missing dressing (how do you run out of Caesar dressing less than a couple of hours into service. The chicken breast was overcooked and the beef au poivre lacked any signs of pepper or other seasoning.
In addition to sub-par food, we witnessed no less than three tables around us waiting excessively for meals, getting wrong orders and returning their food. We waited 30 minutes for our main course as well."

"The food was relatively good but WAY MORE PRICEY than it was worth. We made a reservation & it was honored right away, so that was nice but, again, the brunch buffet was NOT worth the price & the menu they offered was in no way enticing. We won't return."
