"There was a major issue in the kitchen that resulted in a major delay of our entree, but the management and wait staff went above and beyond to make up for the issue. I will return soon."

"Was in town on business and a friend recommend I try this place. It not on the beaten path really (in a strip plaza south of I 85)
The people were very friendly, and attentive. The wine list was good, and the number of choices by the glass while not vast still held some good wines.
I had the veal picatta and it was excellent."

"Kudos to Coal Fire for offering delicious, well prepared Italian food with the amazing ingredients & recipes!! I was really impressed this most recent visit. I had a REAL Ceasar salad with the most wonderful crunchy baby romaine. I also had the shortrib ravioli--delicate with deliciously spiced tender beef filling. My husband had a beef roulade special that was stuffed with cheeses, spices served over lima beans in a light, tasty sauce. Their wine list is extensive and I longed to try so many items on the menu since they all sounded great! Seriously, we need to patron this restaurant -- it is a real relief from the tired, copycat menus that are cropping up downtown. THIS IS our BEST Italian in Greenville."

"Once again my wife and I enjoyed our anniversary diner with our friends and Cold Fire. And over the years the food keeps getting better and better. My wife and I made sure that no plate went back with any food on them as everything was excellent. I strongly suggest starting the evening with either the cheeseor meat plate. Both are very well done and just seem to kick the night off perfectly."

"We had asked for a quiet table and were seated in the patio area, the only people out there. The manager visited twice and our server took excellent care of us. Great food and drink and exemplary service."

"I see reviews on here stating its not "as good as it used to be". Personally my wife & I find the food better & more refined.
My wife's sister was in town & has not been to Coal Fired Bistro since Chef Anthony Gray came on board. So I was really anxious to hear what she thought. She noticed the menu changes right away & said it was classier and loved the new farm to table approach.
She had the Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken Breast and said it was the best chicken she has ever tasted. My wife agreed. I had the 18oz bone-in strip & it was perfect. Best steak in the Greenville area. The cheeseboard, gnocci & potato gratinato went great with our entrees. Lastly, both the ladies agreed that Coal Fired has the best chocolate martinis in tow"

"Unfortunately, Coal Fired Bistro is not the restaurant I once enjoyed. The food is mediocre at best and the once fabulous wine list has shrunk considerably. I'm so disappointed in the change as it was once the total package of ambience and great food. I considered it a go to restaurant on my list for when I wanted a special meal. I probably won't go back."

"We had family in town and took them to Coal Fired Bistro. They are from Illinois and this was their first time there. The food was amazing as usual. Our server Dillon did an excellent job explaining the menu items. My family was intrigued with the innomatic wine system.
Unlike some fine dining restaurants we didn't feel as if we had to hurry up & eat. We stayed several hours & had a great time visiting & trying great food. Coal Fired is great.
This is a great place with great food & service. Who needs the hassles of downtown when you can relax on Pelham Red."

"Great neighborhood gem. Went Saturday night, sat at the bar. Excellent 3 piece band, not tool loud, just right. Service was OK, one knowledgeable server behind the bar helped with wines and pairing. Other servicers were not too experienced or attentive.Food was excellent but took a while get our entrees. Thought prices on the wines were pretty steep. Prices I would expect to pay in a major US city but not in Greer. SC. All and all I would reoommend the CFG."

"Our first time and were very pleased. Service is top notch and the food is among the best in the Upstate. It's getting hard to say a restaurant is the best because we have so many great choices in the Greenville area, but Coal Fired Bistro ranks among the top tier. The capellini carbonara was delicate, flavorful and worth repeat visits to savor. The roasted salmon was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Wine selection is good and prices reasonable. This is going to be a regular stop when eating out."

"The food was excellent and the dishes we got had a very unique flare to them. We will return. Only issue we had was it was late and only one other table was sitting around us. The lady was loud and had the most annoying accent. It took away from our enjoyment. But that's not their fault. Tables are kind of close, but if the restaurant had been full / noisier it may not have been as bad."

"We were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant it located in a strip mall and is nothing to look at from the outside. However, once inside we kept being surprised by what we found. The decor is nice, the food is very good, and the price is reasonable."

"This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville, but every time I go it seems to have changed a bit. Every time just a little more expensive and a menu that is a bit smaller. I really enjoyed the 'not your regular italian' menu, but it seems to have gotten a little too much that way for my taste. Everything is still good, but I would recommend taking a look back at the menu over the last 2 years and bring back some of the more popular choices. Wine from the wine system is a bit over priced for what you get as well. Again, this place has good food, but for the price I'm paying I would like just a touch more variety. I have to be critical of any place where I'm dropping 200 bucks and leaving a touch disappointed."

"My wife and I visited Coal Fired Bistro and Wine Bar for a quiet, romantic dinner. I thought the experience was very enjoyable, from the congenial service, to the excellent meal provided. The Enomatic Wine system was enjoyable, also. Most importantly, my wife was enthralled with the experience, and is looking forward to a second visit."

"Prior to this visit, this was really one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville. There have been some changes in management and it was apparent this wasn't the same restaurant anymore. It took us nearly a half hour to get seated with a reservation and when we did, we were placed in a patio area that had plenty of open tables the entire time. The menu has been dramatically scaled back and our favorites weren't there. I really struggled to find anything as the menu seemed more Nouveau American than Italian. It took an eternity to get the meal served and while it tasted fine, it didn't live up to the expectations we had and was incredibly salty. We really loved this place in the past, but it may be a while before we go back."

"Resturant was servicing several medium to large groups during our visit. The staff did a great job in attention and detail. For the crowd being served the wait time for our meal was fair. The Fliet Migeon dish was exceptional! Our friend who had never visited Coal Fire were highly impressed. P.S. Bar drinks were mixed very well and tasted like BAR drinks should! Thanks""

"CFB is a neighborhood favorite, however, this time it fell short of it's usual excellence. The Caesar salad's shredded texture & recognizable purchased croutons were a real disappointment, as I was craving a nice crisp romaine, with or without fresh croutons. My entree, the veal chop with gnocchi & arugula was excellent. My only complaint was the skimpiness of the arugula in relation to the chop & gnocchi, but that's probably to be expected on the typical American plate (I DID order the veal chop, after all). Lastly, the apple crostata with cinnamon ice cream had been microwaved and the pastry was doughy & not the least bit flaky. The ice cream may have been vanilla, as there was no discernible cinnamon.
Missed the fish on the menu"

"This was our third visit to Coal Fired and each time it gets better and better and it was great the first time. Very courteous reception and wait staff. The restaurant contacts me the day prior to re-confirm which is reassuring to me that there are no disconnects. My Open Table specific request(s) have always been honored. The chef and kitchen staff prepare and present all courses ordered exceptionally well. The items we ordered (soup, Scottish Salmon, Veal Picatta and Brussels Sprouts) were absolutely delicious. My wife, who is VERY discriminating about prep and presentation is still talking about the Veal Picatta. This was a wonderful dining experience."

"Not quite Italy, but you can see it from there! Coal-fired Bistro exceeded every expectation I had. The butternut agnolotti was as good as any pasta dish I had on Oct 2012 trip to Italy. Rome, Florence, Siena, Venice bar none. This is an upstate gem."

"We really loved this place when they had the last chef since the food was fantastic. We went back at the end of 2012 and found that the chef had left but still ate there and found that the food/menu had changed dramatically and the food was just OK. Then we decided to try it one more time since they might have had an off day the last time and we're glad we came back. Yes, the old rack of lamb dish is no longer on the menu (sad) but the duck and chicken dishes we had this time around were fantastic!"

"Still possible the best restraunt in Greenville... They changed the menu recently which was probably a good thing because it was SO large before. There are definitely some things that will be missed from the old menu, but all the food is just phenomenal, so I think we will be ok!
Expect a relatively expensive meal if you are having some adult based beverages, but if you arent and/or are realistic about the amount of food you order (portions are fairly good sized for a upscale restraunt, you can get out of there at a reasonable price.
My lady and I have been there numerous times (this time for her BDay) and have never been disappointed!!"

"We chose CFB for the Restaurant Week menu, which is a great way to try out new places. The menu there was different than the one advertised, but in a good way. We made reservations and were promptly seated when we arrived. The food was amazing, the staff friendly and attentive and the place was stylish and comfortable. I would go back again."
