"We had an outstanding lunch here. The service was very attentive and included information about wine pairings that was very helpful. When we ordered the tomato soup which was excellent, our waiter realized that my wine had not been served yet, and he instead brought me a free glass of wine that went better with my soup, and then the wine I had ordered that went best with my entree was timely served next."

"Good food! Service was very accommodating.
I went for a special occasion hoping for a quiet afternoon. Alas, not quiet even at 3pm. To my surprise, main dining room closed in the afternoon. I made reservations for the Wine Cask intending to sit inside, not outside or inside their bar extension called the Intermezzo. This was a bit annoying, made worse by an infant. Some parents came for wine and brought a crying baby. Who brings a child to a bar and drinks in the afternoon?
If you like good food and good service, come for the food and service. Don't come for a romantic or quiet meal anytime before the sunsets."

"I decided to take my wife to this expensive restaurant on her birthday. When I made the reservation I informed open table that it was a special night... my wife's birthday. I confirmed reservation later with the Wine Cask and again made it known that our dinner was to celebrate my wife's birthday... they responded that this was noted in our reservation. Although the food was good (not great) and our service was ok, not one person in the restaurant mentioned anything whatsoever to my wife regarding her birthday. We will not return to the Wine Cask, and I would not recommend it for anyone planning a special occasion if you want the to acknowledge such."

"I am vegetarian, my girlfriend loves fish. Both of us were absolutely satisfied with our starters, main courses and deserts. The food is amazing, the wine menu holds high quality wines. The service is also able to give good recommendations for every taste. We had a very nice evening at the Wine Cask!"

"My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and had a great dinner. I told the bar manager what I like in a wine and he suggested the perfect chardonnay. We had sweetbreads and duck for starters and both were very good. My main dish of scallops was slightly over salted but not so much to ruin the dish. The bread pudding was to die for. Music was perfect. Lighting was perfect. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly.We were there for 2 hours and enjoyed every minute!"

"The food was exceptional. Usually at high-end restaurants these days you'll get a small portion of food, but in this case the portions were spot on, with a bit to spare. My girlfriend had the seared Ahi tuna and I had the NY steak. The Ahi was perfectly seared, fresh, and accompanied with what my girlfriend said was, "the best asparagus I've ever had." My steak was perfect, medium rare, with a smooth flavorful sauce. The wine list is truly great. Normally, restaurants will push through table wines that are void of flavor for the masses, but my zinfindel was full of flavor as well as the chardonnay. The atmosphere was nicely lit with grandiose mirrors surrounding the interior. I recommend requesting a seat by the larger-than-life fireplace."

"Overall the food was very good with friendly helpful staff . The main courses were large and while the meat was prepared perfectly the sides conflicted with the meat and were too complicated. The wine list was deep with well priced CA wines but few French wines to choose from. However, the wine service was excellent."

"The food is always excellent seasonal, magnificently prepared and presented. You can't go wrong with the wine, the staff is knowledgeable about the selections and pairings with the menu. The ambiance is great as the restaurant has its own courtyard and beautifully appointed interior if the weather isn't cooperating."

"We took another couple to celebrate my wife's birthday. The service was attentive and professional. Not fawning nor condescending like many fine restaurant service is. "Ok what killed this for us as what could have been a perfect night was the food. The selection was weird and very limited. My husbands plate was this small lumpy grey piece of fish on some green lettuce leaves. I actually enjoyed my entree of crispy skin Salmon. The dessert was not so good tart was tough but the cinnamon ice cream was very good. My appetizer was an Andoulle sausage encased in a pastry and then served cold sliced on the plate . If the pastry had been better I can see where the chef was going with this dish. Unfortunately they failed in the taste was not so great. My husband had a mixed green salad - how can you mess one of those up ? So the overall food was a 6 out of 10. Service was a 10 out of 10."

"We chose to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary by having dinner at the Wine Cask. It is refreshing to know that a restaurant that has been in business for so many years just keeps getting better. It was the perfect romantic, sophisticated spot for our second date, all those years ago. We have come to the Wine Cask each time we've visited Santa Barbara for everything from a casual dinner to a special night out. This place never disappoints and Saturday night was no exception. We were greeted with complimentary champagne and anniversary wishes. We dined on exquisite salads, sausages, sea bass and sweetbreads, complimented perfectly by a lovely pouilly fuisse, and topped off by a decadent chocolate mousse. Everything was perfect."

"I went here for my birthday dinner and was sadly unimpressed. The food was very good but did not blow me away and the service was extremely slow. We were rushed into ordering but then waited for long amounts of time between courses. It took over half an hour for our dessert to arrive and then our waitress never brought the check. Another server eventually took our credit card without us seeing the check, but we had been waiting so long, we just wanted to leave. It was an hour plus after we had finished our entrees. Pleasant pacing this was not."

"Overall it was a great place, very dark with candle highlights. It was weird thet on a Saturday night they were playing "club type music" though. It didn't fit the atmosphere at all. The decor made it seem like they were trying to be "romantic"...but when the music is going "BOOM BOOOM BOOM, UNtz Untz Untz ", you kinda get confused as to what kind of vibe they are trying to make...
Food was Excellent, Service was also great.
The only thing I didn't care for was our table placement. The entire place was almost empty, and yet they stuck me (and +1) in the corner table, where my view was of the Wall. They had over 15 or more other open tables available...oh well."

"We were very excited to dine at Wine Cask after dining at their sister restaurant Bouchon, but felt that we had an average experience. Great wine, average food and very lackluster service. It almost seemed like they could care less that we were there. The exception would be the Sommelier who was very knowledgeable and helpful with a great wine list."

"Went for lunch - food, as always, was excellent. Service was very slow as only one waitress was working and not very attentive. Waited several minutes for a bill and had planned to order desert but by the time she came to ask (sans a desert menu), we just wanted to go, so asked for bill. Very unusual for this restaurant."

"The staff was friendly, the environment was lovely, we were shown right to our table sitting by the fireplace. Service was excellent and the food was unique in some of the ingredients but great taste and appearance. The food portions were just right. A bit expensive since the entree does not come with soup or salad so must be ordered separately. But was definitely worth the cost for a special occasion."

"My boyfriend and I went to Wine Cask to celebrate my birthday. We arrived early, so decided to have a glass of wine before hand. Intermezzo is Wine Cask's wine bar just around the corner and it was the perfect spot for a pre-dinner cocktail. The restaurant's manager introduced himself, checked us in with the maitre de', took time to chat with us about the area and then escorted us to the restaurant when the time came.
The food was delicious, fresh, and well presented. I can personally attest to the perfection of the seared scallops...mouthwatering! The service was excellent, as well. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, classy and romantic. The whole evening was wonderful and I'd definitely return."
