"I wasn't unhappy with the food, but it seems to me it's not the same as before. The steak only had fries as option and the menu had only 4 main menus. The price was OK, but needs a little more help with more types of foods, less sandwiches. Also the Casino had line out the door for the buffet, but this place was only 1/2 full? very strange."

"While the service excellent, the food was not. The prime rib was full of fat and the scallops were chewy. The manager was very nice and listened to our input and didn't charge us for one of the meals. I will go back and try it again because of how professional they were but just be warned that my dinner was not up to par."

"We had a 9:30 reservation, they seated us just after 9:40 and within minutes the waitress told us we needed to order because the "kitchen was closing in a few min." we ordered medium well filet mignons and they were well done and dry. Appetizer and drinks took forever. Would never expect such poor service at a high end steakhouse. Dinner was almost $170 and not worth it. I will never go back there."

"Overall, we had a very nice dinner. We celebrated our wedding anniversary. Our server, Cathy S., was great. She gave very good service. The food was fantastic. We had crab cakes, tomato and cheese salad, prime rib, jumbo shrimp. We enjoyed a complimentary desert from The Grove. That was a nice touch. It was somewhat noisy in the restaurant. There was a large group celebrating a birthday. And there was also two couples sitting near us that were loud. Once those two groups left, it was very enjoyable. A little bit more romantic."

"This was a return visit and the restaurant has a new/upgraded look and feel. The decor is very welcoming and eclectic. We were seated immediately and our waitresss, Kathy, was excellent.
All food items were delicious and cooked exactly to order. During dinner the Food aand Beverage Director came to the table to check on us and. Asked how the meal was. Nice touch. My guests each tried a delicious steak and I tried the ravioli which was delicious. We would return again."

"This Steak House has obviously changed management due to the huge price increase and odd menu format. I'm not a big fan of ordering an entree and having to order sides ala carte. Its annoying and disingenuous when you are asked to pay 55 dollars for a small lobster tail and nothing comes with that. I won't dine here again."

My son had a fillet mignon that could be cut with a fork and I again indulged in their "Cowboy Steak", a bone-in rib-eye, 2nd to none. "Food was good, though overpriced. A $40 steak has to make me say WOW! This one while good, could have been served at Black Angus. One turn off was the fact that we could see the East County gamblers stumbling around throu the front door. Instead of clear glass on the front door I would recommend frosted or opaque glass. If they are going for fine dining, which the prices indicate, they have to take another look at the ambience to hit the nail on the head. Again, the food was good, but not fine dining prices good."

"They have a wonderful new menu that includes a huge bone-in rib-eye steak, ("The Cowboy") that was not only tender & cooked to perfection, tasted more like a dry-aged scrumptiously delicious cut of beef and accompanied with a generous bowl of sauteed mushrooms and giant steak fries. Beyond a "King's Feast". Preceding the steak was an artichoke tray, served hot & with plenty of butter and followed by a bowl of their best in the world New England clam chowder. Timely served by an extraordinarily attentive Ray, the waiter. Unquestionably above the mark of excellent."

"Louise Phipps and I dined at the Grove on March l2 at 6:30 pm. We have met there for dinner approximately 6 times since we both retired from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach. Louise lives in Alpine and I came up from Imperial Beach. First, let me say that our waitress was excellent - no complaints. We were both disappointed in the menue. Gone was the warm bread, replaced with a cold bread that tasted like olives. Poor replacement. Next, no specials. Everything a la cart. Louise asked for rice pilaf with her petite filet only to be told it wasn't on the menu. When we ordered our desert and asked for ice cream on top - sorry but we don't have ice cream. "My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary only to be disappointed. First, finding the restaurant was difficult due to the fact that the website shows it as a separate building when it was actually in the casino. Nothing gets the appetite going like the smell of stale smoke. Then after finding our waiter as a poor representative of service we were disappointed in the options of the menu. While our food was cooked accurately, the seasoning and sauces left much to be desired. Also, it came with nothing else. I will not be going back and I would tell anyone to stay away."

"THE Grove steak house has undergone some changes lately I get the feeling they are
trying to find a new identity for the steak house. Unfortunatley the place is understaffed not all are well trained, and a lot of staff turnover. They added a lot more lights which took away the romantic atmosphere. All these changes has turned this restaurant to nothing special, just another restaurant."
