"We took our mom here for Mothers Day...overall, it was a great visit as usual to Tillmans. Everyone thought the food was five star great, as usual, and everyone had a great meal and an enjoyable time."

"Food was good, as usual, promptly seated but our server, Max, appeared to be either brand new, hungover or lazy. When the order was wrong, he didn't apologize or offer to bring a new hot side when the correct dish was finally served. Inattentive service at a quiet time & entire staff was in slo-mo. TRH is one of our faves and this was an off day."

"Great twist on some old Southern favorites. Seating can be a little tight so don't have a conversation you don't want your neighbors to hear"

"This was our first foray to Bishop Arts District for dining and we were not disappointed. The service was absolutely perfect and our food was wonderful. We will not hesitate to recommend Tillman's to our friends and we will definitely be back. Thanks!!"

"We moved to Dallas about a year ago, after being in Houston, Boston, and NYC. All of which, are known for their dining options and chefs. This is the BEST restaurant we have found in Dallas. Everything was amazing! We can't wait to go back!"

"Menu selections were great and the quality of the food and service were excellent. My wife and I have been to Tillman's a few times. This past Saturday, we took some friends for the first time and they loved it. I live in Plano, if I lived closer I would eat at Tillman's a few times a month."

"Excellent food, excellent server! Love the Bishop Arts part of Dallas, it's so unique. The parking was a nightmare & the group doing the valet parking refused to park us so my husband was 20 minutes delayed in joining us. That aspect must be fixed."

"I ate lunch here in the past so thought i would try dinner. Big mistake, noise level was so high it was difficult to talk. Our dinner order was placed while the table next to use was finishing their entree, we did not receive our dinner until a new table had been served and we asked where our entree was, it was apparent, our order was never placed. They did take 50% off the bill but the food was mediocre and service not worth it"

"The truffle oil popcorn was just the beginning of an amazing food adventure. We devoured our trio of fries appetizer which were paired with hand made ketchup and horseradish mustard. The shrimp and grits were spicy and creamy, cooked to perfection!"

"We have been to Tillman's before and the food was excellent. However, this time the menu was almost completely different. There was maybe half the amount of choices from before and those that were available were much different. The tables next to us were saying the same thing, that the menu was different and nothing looked as appealing like before. I had the pork chops and they were very good. The people that were with me all ate part of my food because they didn't like their dishes. Our diners and the table next to us were asking for the jalapeno gnocchi and it was not available. So they tried the new gnocchi dish. It was not the same and they were disappointed. The smores for dessert were fun, but there was not enough grahams."

"This was perfect for our anniversary dinner. It was relaxed, yet had fabulous food and service, which is really what makes a special dinner successful. Everything we ordered was perfect, and exactly as described on the menu. Portion size was also perfect. Drinks were also fantastic! Very inventive, and they paired well with the food. S'mores were delicious, although the portion was much larger than expected! Our daughter was lucky enough to get to try them when we got home. The only downside was the awkward date (?) seated next to us! (not much of a downside!) I know we will definitely be back...and my husband will probably figure out a way to go for lunch as well!"

"The menu was great. We asked several tables what they had ordered and we were asked the same as the choices were to many. The s'mores for dessert were the best!"

"Great food - shrimp and grits are amazing - though a bit spicey. Hip crowd and cool vibe - extends to the whole Bishop Arts District area. Service was great - very knowledge, attentive and polite server, but not at all pushy about trying to upsell. Enjoyed sitting on the front porch - felt like you are outside, but still a bit sheltered from the outdoors. Also a little quieter on the front porch. Was our first visit and we'll definitely be back."

"Excellent seared sea scallops. But as good as they were, the butternut squash puree they were sitting in may have even been better. Plantains could have been a little thinner and crispier."

"Tillman.s use to be known for great servers who really knew the food. Those days are long gone. I ask the waiter if they had any rye whiskey and he just looked at me with a blank stare. Asked a few questions on the menu, no clue. When we walked in the two hostesses were arguing about whose turn it was to seat someone. Food must have been on a steam table; it came out in five minutes. This place is over. So many better choices in the Cliff."

"I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. I was expecting all white meat, but it was a mixture of dark and white meat, and I think it had chopped tomatoes in the mix. It wasn't very good so I will not order that again. My friend had the chicken wrap which she said was very good."

"This is my "go to restaurant" when entertaining friends and family from out of town. It's a little gem with great ambiance, service and delicious food. It represents the Oak Cliff scene and is in the heart of the Bishop Arts District.
My husband and I love the truffle tator tots and inevitably order them to snack on before the meal. My friend had the Shrimp and Grit this evening, I had the Scallops and my husband had the ceaser salad and soup. All were happy with our meals and enjoyed the smore's for sharing at the end.
Delicious meal, but be prepared to spend some dinero. The meal put us back over a hundred dollars for the 3 of us and we didn't order alcohol. We enjoy it as a treat when we have special guest to entertain. Yum!"

"This was our first time at Tillman's Roadhouse. The environment had lots of energy and everyone was very nice. Perhaps my son and I ordered the wrong thing, but the fish we had (nut crusted halibut) was not very flavorful--it was somewhat bland. My husband had the shrimp and grits and said it was great. The appetizers were delicious-3 kinds of fries-and the smores for dessert were great. I would definitely try it again, but I would order a different main course or just several of their side dishes which looked great."

"Though the peacock room is beautiful and cozy, the tables are just too small. Rather than enjoying our drinks and eats, we were constantly trying to make sure something wasn't fallling off the table, which it eventually did and broke a water glass. The tables would be great for bar service and bar food, but not menu dining."

"We were so satisfied with this eclectic restaurant and its tasty deconstructionist menu. We loved the colorful TRIO OF FRIES, the 4-meat "T" BURGER, and the TRUFFLE GOAT CHEESE TATER TOTS, but especially the TABLESIDE S'MORES, where you roast marshmallows at your own table! We were seated at a cozy table in a corner and therefore couldn't rate the rest of the interior. Our waiter was a bit uncommunicative (a shame, because we wanted to rave and/or ask about the food), but fortunately it looked like not everyone was having that experience. It was spendy for our pocketbook, but worth every dollar for a special occasion. See more details and photos at http://wp.me/p2bq3l-2G."

"Unique menu items with attention to detail in the preparation. Very, very good. Service was exceptional. I recommend the country fried steak, but save room for dessert. The s'mores are out of this world! We had a table of five for lunch and were all very pleased with our dining experience. Will have to return again and again just to try the other items as it was the most difficult thing about our visit...what to order!"

"More comfort food than what I would call great cooking. The ceviche was good, but not great. The waiter-endorsed chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly and tender, but still reminded me why I don't often eat deep fried food - all I was really tasting was the batter. The beef cheek ravioli special tasted more like a beef stew than ravioli, but a very good stew. Everything was good, just not great. We liked the waiter and the ambiance."

"Our latest visit to Tillman's was a disappointment. While our service was good, the food wasn't up the the usual standards that I associate with Tillman's. I usually order the scallops and have enjoyed them immensely. This time there were three large scallops on a puree of butternut squash. It was not nearly as tasty as the previous recipe. I wonder why the change?
We were also seated next to a group of very LOUD women which was annoying at best.
It's a 45 minute drive from our house to Tillman's. After this experience, I don't think we'll make the trip."
