"I was so thankful that we had a place like Vera Mae's to celebrate a very special occasion with my family. They were very accommodating: the ceremony ended earlier than expected and Vera Mae allowed our party of 6 to come in earlier than our reserved time. The dinner rolls were exceptional, we asked for a second basket. The pork shank my DH ordered was well prepared and approved by all who sampled from his plate. My daughter's Ravioli Florentine was delicious! The other 2 daughters shared a beef dish that they raved about. The chocolate mousse desserts was delicious. Wait staff was attentive."

"The wait staff was very helpful. I loved that my water glass was always full. The food was fabulous. I would come back again. The environment was a lot louder than what I expected considering how nice the restaurant is."

"My first lunch experience at Vera Mae's lived up to the hype. Our server was in his last day of training so there were a couple of minor glitches. But nothing that detracted from the experience. Everyone at my table of 6 seemed to really enjoy their selections. The red skin potato salad was a delight. My ham sandwich with mustard green slaw was well balanced and tasty. I will be back!"

"Here are the facts, judge for yourself. Reservation at 7:45 for 4, forgot us at the bar and I asked at 8:15 for out table,yes, it is ready. I ordered the special that night, $26 marlin. Served with a very spicy brown rice and corn. The salad was from a bag and a few red onions added, warm. I asked if they could replace the rice with a green veggie, no, out of any greens, or potato, out of any kind of potato, how about some mushroom rissoto like another in my party ordered, no, out. She brought spaghetti noodles with butter on them. SO much for a beige plate of starch.
They were understaffed and harried. Half of the place was empty by the time our food came, but waiters still seemed in a rush."

"Second time dining at Vera Mae's. This visit didn't live up to the first. Restaurant was LOUD, service was SLOW, and the food was just okay for $$$$. It took our party of two, 45 minutes to get our food after ordering. The restaurant changed their menu and got rid of the Alfredo dish. Would recommend going here. Disappointed."

"So, this was my first time going to a 'bistro,' as it were, so I couldn't tell you if this was good as far as bistros go. What I can say is that this was, all around, a grand dining experience. My friend and I found no shortage of interesting things to try, and I know that she loved her dish. I myself had the New York Strip, and while it was a little more well done than I like, it didn't detract from the overall flavor. Seeing old teachers enjoying the food certainly helped the cause as well.
If I have one complaint, it is that the service was a bit slower than I would have hoped for. This was more the kitchen, I think, as our server was very attentive."

"Went here the other night with my girlfriend for prom. I was expecting a little restaurant with average food, but turned out that it was an amazing place with such a great expereance. It was perfect for a romantic dinner. They had a great atmosphere and the servers were very nice."

"I found this downtown restaurant on a Tripadvisor review, rated #1 in Muncie. Since I was going to be in town for a concert at Ball State, I made a reservation. Although I was alone and I don't drink (= no big tip), my waiter Caleb was excellent. He recommended the Raspberry Brie Chicken as a house specialty, and I couldn't have been more pleased with my meal... and the service. Caleb even helped me with parking suggestions for the campus, which I appreciated. I had thought of going back for dessert after the concert but since I was driving back to Cincinnati the same night, I am saving that for next time. I was seated in the bar area which was a little noisy, but not too bad."

"Everything was wonderful beginning with our "special" greeting at the door, continuing with great service and recommendations from our fabulous waiter, Dante who timed our dinners perfectly so we never felt rushed. Highly recommend the French onion soup dripping with cheese so thick that it is served with scissors! We started with the mussels as our appetizer and dined on the perfectly prepared lamb and raspberry chicken which neither of us could finish. We were too stuffed for dessert but Dante boxed up a our desserts along with our leftovers to enjoy at home later."

Our group requested a fine dining restaurant prior to a Blueman Group show in this collage town. I was elected to the task, and thanks to OpenTable and Vera Mae's fantastic server - Helen . . . "We celebrated our daughter's twenty second birthday at Vera Mae's. All the staff were welcoming and friendly, our waiter attentive and helpful with drink selections. The food was well prepared and tasty. The restaurant was busy but seemed to have adequate staff to provide excellent service. Many patrons seemed to be well known to the staff and were greeted warmly. Appreciated the piano music to enhance the ambiance."
