"Although I made a reservation over a week in advance, I found out they tried to call me 1//2 hour before my reservation that they were having a party. Service was not very good, we had to ask several times for the same item, i.e. bread, dresing, etc and they came well into the meal. Potatoes and vegetable for all meals were cool. When they brought out new potatoes, the person was rude, as though it was out fault that they served us cold food. There are too many other places to go that have good food and good service, so we would not recommend thi restaurant."

"This is my second time at this restaurant. Great location and pretty restaurant however the service needs some serious work. The bartender got our wine orders wrong......twice. The waitress disappeared after serving drinks......we had to flag her down. Menu is pretty unimaginative. Place would be a gold mine given the location with some creative food and good service."

"On arriving we were greeted with a smile and quick seating by the hostess...we had requested a water view which was available, a nice surprise, and a nice start to what was a very good dining experience. We split the Arugala salad and mussels...both delicious with good presentation. My friend had the duck, which he said was cooked perfectly, and I had the Tunisian Chicken...very tasty with just the right seasonings. They have a decent wine list. The restaurant is located in a lovely quiet area on the Neponset River. Parking seemed to be limited which could be an issue during weekdays because the lot is also used by those using the subway."

"This restaurant used to be excellent but unfortunately they let it slip. I had a hard time getting a reservation for Mother's Day and ended up with 4:30. The place was empty! I thought maybe it would fill up soon because it was so early but it never did. Our waitress was awful and forgetful. The food was mediocre and for being empty they had no chicken or Budweiser left. It was very poorly organized and I was quite disappointed. I will not go back."

"Since it was such a beautiful spring evening, we wanted a waterview location for dinner. Although it is not located directly on the water as there is a walkway and grassy area between the building and the Neponset River, the setting was scenic and peaceful prompting an afterdinner walk around the wharf area. An added bonus was the cherry blossom trees were in bloom with pink petals everywhere! Overall, we enjoyed our dinner experience at the 88 Wharf restaurant."

"One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I went with 3 other women and all 4 of us returned our overpriced meals. They were not only inetable but they had been sitting under a heat lamp for at least the hour we waited. The waitress removed all meals from the bill and said she'd send the manager over...but I guess he was to busy to come by. I will never step foot in there again unless there is new management and a chef that can actually cook and time the meals. HORRIBLE! The bill was also incorrect... And the waitress had to adjust that as well."

"I have been to 88 Wharf 4 times. I was disappointed this time. I was hosting some of my employees and had heartily recommended this spot, and they were looking forward to a new restaurant and experience. The wine selection was very limited and the wine we finally settled on was the last bottle of that kind. Service was slow, well over 1/2 hour before our meal order was taken once our wine was served. One of the appetizers was forgotten and when it finally arrived looked like it had been under the warming light for some time. I will try them again, but plan to BYOB."

"I had been to 88 Wharf about a year after it opened & it was fabulous. Unfortunately, it has gone down to the point that I would not give it another try. Our waitress was very nice but the kitchen was backed up (the restaurant was not even full) & our dinners took way longer than acceptable. I ordered Duck, medium rare as suggested, and got more fat and grizzle than meat. Which was a shame because even though overcooked, was tasty. My companion ordered two 7oz pork chops which looked to be about 3 oz each. Even after cooking 7oz does not become 3 oz.

"I took my girlfriend to wharf 88 for a birthday celebration and the experience led me to this conflicted review. The food was definitely above average, we had the meatball lollipops and both the fillet and ribeye. I have no complaints about the food but the service was amazingly slow for week night (62 mins from order to entree). The decor is top notch and sure to impress, but plan extra time."

"The restaurant has nice views of the water and a pleasant atmosphere. However the scallop appetizer came out in a chowder boowl and looked like tater tots and tasted awful. The bread was warmed in the ovven prior to service but was gummy inside.
My steak was the saving grace of the dining experience as it was cooked just right and tasted the way it should."

"88 Wharf is amazing!! Now that we have a baby, my husband and I never get out anymore. We finally had a date night scheduled and chose 88 Wharf because it was close to home and had great reviews but we had never tried it. (I'd been for drinks with a friend once but never tried their food!) We had a window seat that looked out onto the beautiful river. Our waitress was absolutely awesome..I wish I remembered her name. She was incredibly personable and super attentive. The drinks and food were so good. My husband ordered the tenderloin and I had the roasted chicken. Both were so delicious! The atmosphere is wonderful...cozy but not so cozy that you feel like you can hear someone else's conversation. We are already talking about coming back!"

"This restaurant is terrible. Chef "takes items off the menu" with no warning. He took lobster off because he used them to make the bisque. They did this by dipping the lobster in the broth for 5 seconds. Other waiter said they did not have lobster because the prices were skyrockrting. Caesar salad is made with limpy lettuce, no dressing, and cheese from a jar. Most restraunts use cheese slices. Tuscan chicken was good, but needed more veggies. I asked why the Sunday prime rib was not available and was told the chef took it off the menu because not enough people come on Sunday. People don't come on Sunday because they don't have prime rib! Classic chicken and egg problem. Beet salad was also off the menu. Cod was replaced with tilapia."

"My trip to the 88 Wharf was without question the absolute worst dining experience of my life! The evening started with some very tasty appetizers. It was followed up by a very very long wait. Finally when it came time to order, my first and second choices for dinner were off the menu. We (myself and five other guests) waited more than 45 minutes for our food. My tenderloin was not only luke warm and served on a luscious bed of french fries but also lacked any semblance of flavor or taste. This was the same for the haddock which was also very dry, the garlicless shrimp scampi and the chicken which was also dry and flavorless. You have a cook, you just don't have a chef and that is why our meal and your restaurant such a dining disaster"

"Really cute place and pretty inside. Food was decent, but everything was a bit overdone. Maybe they were just having an off night. Our waiter tried to be charming to make up for the long time we had to wait for our entrees. Overall the place has great potential and great menu items, but I feel like someone needs to go back in the kitchen and whip it into shape."

"I have been supporting 88 Wharf since it opened, weathered the numerous departures of chefs, reworking of the menu, email campaigns and other marketing efforts, and am sad to say they just can't find their game. Each experience seems more disappointing than the last, culminating St. Patricks Day with one of the worse meals I can remember eating anywhere in the last 3 decades. The setting is pleasant and there is opportunity to do well in this location. The problem is in the kitchen and, apparently, in ownership/management. They have not been able to get it right and have been trying, but going downhill, for over three years. Time to reboot, again."

"Very expensive. The steaks were so peppered you could barely taste the steak. I didn't have the great cut of steak, my husband ordered a t bone and it was well done instead of medium. There were nice to offer dessert, but for the price a good steak would have been better."

"The food was lousy. I had the lobster american - the lobster was tough and the femmil cooked beyond recognition. The waitress was spacy and only brought the bread after we're we're waiting a long while for the entree and asked for some."
