Bienvenidos!Welcome to Alegria Cocina Latina!Let us pour you a glass of our famous homemade Alegria Sangria as we take you on a fascinating tour of "Nouveau Latin" Cuisine. Alegria opened it's colorful doors in April 1994
in downtown Long Beach in a beautiful historical building "The Clock Tower".
Alegria, meaning "happiness" in Spanish, was born, soon becoming a destination in Long Beach! Alegria was designed with a rustic flair. Colorful mosaic tiles, old brick walls and beautiful murals set the tone for a fabulous atmosphere, along with an artistic menu!
We are proud to feature live entertainment nightly! At our lively bar
guests can see every dish coming out of the kitchen. This mouth-watering idea attracts every guest to try at least one bite! Our lively music and old fashion Latin hospitality will bring you back time after time!

"Sunny was an awesome server. She helped me carry my bag when I was going to change my daughters diaper. She fixed my husbands drink when he wasn't satisfied with its flavor and he was very happy with the outcome. We had a large group and usually servers are not that attentive when gratuity is already included in the bill (my past experiences) but she right there by our sides refilling our drinks and making sure we were happy. The food was delicious and different (good) from the general buffet style food. She made my and my mom's Mother's Day a very happy experience at Alegria."

"Made reservation for 9:30 pm. When arrived to restaurant, expected good seating but when arrived, we were
seated by door behind cashier register even when though we asked about being seated close to band or dance floor.
When asked to be seated close to band or dance floor, was told it was already reserved. There was a party of 4 that came after us & were invited to look at what was closest to dance floor & they were accommodated when we were not given that option considering we had made a reservation. When food arrived, waitress did not come to check on us, had to wait to call her attention to ask for silverware & napkins. This was the first time going to your restaurant & expected better service. The food is over priced & fair tasting."

"Celebrated a wedding anniversary. The sangria was absolutely one of the very best I have tasted. Ropa Vieja was extremely tender and very delicious. El Despertador for dessert and a fantastic finish to a very ecclectic meal. We will return."

"Waited about 5minutes before anyone approached me to get seated. Once the bartender greeted me i notified him i had made a reservation and by the time i left i noticed in the screen they had me as a no show and had to ask the waitress to mark me down. i asked him for a high chair and said the waiter will be rite with you which was unacceptable he only had 3 guest at the bar. Overall the waitress was good besides the high chair that i asked her for and never brought. My wife ended up having to eat dinner with one hand while the other hand was use to carry the baby. Will i go back? Probaly not Do i recommend? Maybe just to stop by and have a drink or two at the bar"

"The place is very loud, my dish was good, just on the cold side. Would have been better if my dish was warmer. It's not a romantic place or a place to take a date, more of place to go with a loud group of friends. More then likely we won't b returning. If your looking for a loud place to ear and drink, this would be the place to go. The show was fair, but not open for all to view. They only have a few seats with a good view."

"My husband and I found this little gem through Open Table and we both agree it's a great restaurant! Wonderful ambiance, live Spanish dancers and entertainment. The food was amazing! We had the jalapenos rellonos and hole mole for appetizers and the tacos fritos and pollo mole as entrees and everything was fresh and came to our table FAST! I asked for a side of salsa and at first I thought maybe it was too much to ask but when I got it....I realized the hesitation.....it was literally made FRESH when I ordered it and it was piping hot....just like when my mom made FRESH salsa! This was for our first wedding anniversary and it was such a great find...we WILL be back!"

"We had a marvelous time. We had to wait a bit for a good table, it was too cold to eat outside, and the first couple of places they wanted us to sit were not condusive to a nice evening. A high small table or one right next to the entertainer (WAY TOO LOUD). But we waited, had a fabulous meal, charming, pleasant caring waiters, and very reasonably priced. We will definitely return. (one funny thing) I received an email from them a few days later asking why we didn't keep our reservation on such a busy night)"

"Pretty bummed on the night. My girlfriend had been planning on going for months to enjoy the flamenco dancing and music show. Made a reservation and arrived on time. We were quickly told that we had to sit in the back and around the corner where we couldnt see or hear the show. They then said the next show is in an even more private area and there would be no way for us to see or hear that one. They should definately make it very clear online if you want to see or hear the show. Boooooooo!"

"Good food but WAY TOO LOUD! It was Valentine's Day. Gratefully we had early reservation at 6p. By 6:30 they had cranked up the music so loud I was shouting to be heard. Why on earth--on a day folks may want to be able to speak sweetly to their date would a restaurant blast music? I turned to other guests at tables nearby and they felt same way. Food was good. Service very good. Ambience: poor because of NOISE."

The only downside for me was the flamenco: We chose Sunday based on the website's indication that the dancing was only Fri-Sat. We were a small group of friends who had not seen each other for a number of year, so we wanted to talk. Although we were allowed to choose what we felt would be the most quiet table, it was still kinda loud."
